I had always been a fan of Red Ribbon’s mango cakes and siopao asado ever since I was a young child, frequenting their old location on South Street. I recently ordered a mango cake to celebrate my mom’s 70th birthday. I called and placed my order several days before the event, left my name as well as a time I would pick up the cake. I showed up that afternoon to pick up my cake on the way to the surprise party I planned, and overwhelmed with shock, my order was nowhere to be found, and on top of that, they had run out of mango cakes! To my dismay, I had to settle for chocolate, which was not entirely the end of the world. However, my first experience ordering from Red Ribbon as an adult was not pleasing. I even left a comment in the suggestion box along with my phone number, half-expecting a phone call to discuss my concern. Of course, no one called me back. If you MUST order from Red Ribbon, call before hand(day of, perhaps) to ensure they in fact have your order logged and have enough supply. The experience left me wanting to try Leelin Bakery next time I need to order a cake. Order at your own risk!

Red Ribbon and Goldilocks Bakery are just two of my favorite places to buy cake. I prefer Red Ribbon yo avoid waiting in the long lines at Goldilocks. My Favorite chooses are Filipino flavored Ube, Mocha and Macapuno. They also have a variety cake which includes 4 different flavors. The price ranges from $ 8.98 -$ 21.95 or you can get a slice for only $ 2.95. If your not in the mood for cake, you can opt for one of there filipino dishes such as pancit, palabok or dinuguan. Since Pinoy Pinay or Jeepney Grill is right next door, your better off eating a meal there. There selections are more plus a little cheaper. But If your looking for a delicious cake, Red Ribbon is great! It’s a must try =]
