I love Korean food and this is my go-to for kalguksu on a cold night. They have different choices of noodles and soup but I always go for manila clams or haemul. Good service and they are always quick with refills of the korean appetizers — banchan.

I finally got to eat some solid Korean food :]. I got the ssam bbam, and just is a brilliant dish. Pork belly, Veggies, and Bean Paste Sauce is such a simple but amazing combination of foods when consumed together. At this place, you can tell that the ingredients they use are fresher than other places. The pork belly is perfectly cooked, the veggies have a fresh crunch to it, and the sauce is the secret to bringing them together.

Myung Sung has become our family’s go-to when in need of Korean food. Cho Dang is as well of course, but when there’s a need for variety, we head over to Myung Sung. The boiled pork belly ssam bbam is indeed excellent. You can fully appreciate the texture and flavor of the fat and lean meat portions of the pork belly, all of which are dipped into a bean paste sauce. The sauce has a complex flavor and is made of bean paste as well as bits of sliced onions and various other spices. The ssam bbam is always served with your choice of meat, a plate of veggies(raw carrot, cucumber, kale, romaine and steamed cabbage) as well as a bowl of rice. The sauce is what pulls everything together and makes this dish so enjoyable. The ssam bbam combo with a stew of beef on bone and rice cakes is rich in flavor and very satisfying. The stew is flavored with a medley of spices including anise and therefore is incredibly aromatic. The beef is tender and easily comes off the bone. There are slices of green onion and carrots as well as chewy rice cakes. I have encountered slow service(as mentioned by other Unilocalers), but it hasn’t happened more than once or twice and therefore I’ve over looked it given how many times I’ve frequented this restaurant. Service is standard.

Good Food. Service really needs improvement. When my fiancé and I lived in Downey, we frequently went to Cerritos for Korean food. Cho Dang Tofu was a favorite of ours and since this place was next door, he decided to ask if they had Jjajangmyun. The waitress laughed and said, «Oh no, that’s Chinese food.» I’m sorry, but what Korean does not know Jjajangmyun? Technically there is a Chinese version of it, but most Chinese don’t eat it, it’s the Koreans who do. Weird much? Anyway, a couple months later, we wanted something other than soondubu so we decided to give this place a try. We were given a table in the corner and placed our orders relatively quickly. He got a spicy chicken noodle soup and I got the galbi tang. While the restaurant was on the busy side, there was no reason or excuse as to why it took as long as it did for us to get our food. Especially the banchan! We watched minute after minute tick by as other tables received their banchan and orders… other KOREANS. Get this, about half an hour later when we did eventually get our banchan, we noticed there wasn’t any kimchi. Had to ask for it because the waitress simply assumed we wouldn’t eat it. wow… I wish I could give this place a better rating because the food itself was very good. The chicken noodle soup was especially delicious. Poor service along with the fact that one of the waitresses who was picking vegetables behind the counter was eating them at the same time, with her hands, really ruined my experience. We never did go back.

I was craving for ssam bob today so I convinced my husband to come here for lunch. Today is Wednesday so we were seated right away. I ordered the ssam bob/rib combo and my husband ordered their mild sea food noodle. Everything was delicious that we had to order more ribs to go. Love their purple rice!

Heard some great things about this place from the wife who told me we have to go and try it soon. Apparently there is some kind of boiled pork that is amazing. Being the foodie I think I am, I gave it a try and was a bit taken a back. It’s NOT the over sauced standard that you may expect. It’s also not pre marinated and raw for you to cook. It actually reminded me a lot of Vietnamese food as the process is very similar. You take the protein in this case, boiled pork dip it in a sauce and then wrap it in some lettuce or greens and nom nom. We got the Boiled Pork Saam Bab(sp?) and thought it was very unique. I think I was expecting something different but found it very nice and even refreshing. For being so simple, I found it very flavorful and meaty. Overall very nice. We also got the seafood pancake that I was not really a fan of. I thought it was a bit too soggy in the middle and not crispy enough on the outside. Not a fan of this one. Overall the place is pretty busy and it’s pretty good food but maybe I will try something different next time.

Came here cause the restaurant next door was packed and didnt want to wait. Immediately sat down but it took us 45 minutes to get our order. Food was mediocre at best and the service was horrific. Move on from this spot.

Ever craving a home cooked Korean meal? Come here and you will leave satisfied :) love their Ssam Bap and Sujaebee. Ssam Bap is like a veggie wrap so imagine creating a Korean burritos or fajita. Sujaebee is hand made flat noodles. I always leave with a full and satisfied tummy. Feeling good too since it has no msg.

So it was first time tonight at this joint because my family and I would always go to the busy tofu house next door. My parents didn’t want to wait 10 minutes to be seated so we came here instead. It was partly filled with guests and we were seated right away. I was excited to eat as the server quickly was giving us some hot water and menus in fast paced manner. As she dropped off the drinks, then it was the menus. Our server gave us a few moments to look over the menu. She then took our orders and abruptly snatched my menu without asking me. She saw that I was still deciding on what I wanted. Out of nowhere she leaves with only my parents orders and completely forgets about me. I get frustrated and my parents see it in my face. My dad immediately calls over the server saying«you pretty much grabbed my sons menu rudely.» So she did say sorry and I placed my order of Galbeetang, but the services continued to become a disappointment. Later on the banchan(appetizers) came out and were pretty medicore. The kimchi stood out the most. Then the entrees, my parents order of grilled pork and spicy chicken came out quickly, but where’s mine? I wait a couple minutes then wait 10 – 15, my dad and I become frustrated. We call over the server and she said forgot about my order. She said sorry again and genuinely meant it. So had to put my order in wait a couple of minutes then my food was out. The Galbeetang was pretty darn good! It’s not the first I have had, but it’s good! The verdict… — service is unsure — appetizers are mediocre + entrée was delicious I would give this a 2 and a half stars but Unilocal only goes by whole!

My friends and I were craving hot tofu soup on a very cold night. We actually wanted to go to the restaurant next door to Myung Sung, but the wait was too long so we decided to give this place a try. You never know what places have to offer until you try it right? Heads up, this place only has 3 selections of tofu soup: seafood, chicken, or dried yellowfish. FOOD: I had the chicken tofu soup with the short rib combo. My gf had the Ssam Baam, which is what this restaurant seems to be known for. Ssam Baam is basically cooked bean paste that you put on a piece of meat wrapped with lettuce. The tofu soup is pretty standard: large chunks of tofu with shredded pieces of chicken. The short ribs were also very standard– nothing special. The ssam baam paste is very salty, but very good flavor– its more of an acquired taste. Overall: 4⁄5 SERVICE: The waitresses were running around like crazy, very hectic environment during dinner time. When the restaurant was quieter our waitress would constantly fill our banchan(small appetizer plates) whenever she saw it was running low. But when the restaurant started to get busy, they stopped coming to our table and were just running around. The food came out in a decent time. Overall: 3⁄5 DECOR/AMBIANCE: Casual family restaurant. TVs in the background playing korean channel news. Practically the whole restaurant is filled with korean conversations. Overall: 3⁄5 This restaurant satisfied our cravings for tofu soup, even though it is not a true tofu soup place. The food is ok, but that was the thing– it was just ok. Nothing stood out. The ssam baam is what they’re well known for, and for me, it didn’t stand out.

Love the food here. So far I’ve tried their clam kalgooksoo(hot noodle soup) and their sesame noodles. Both are excellent! Their noodles are chewy and cooked just right. Will def come back to try their Bossam(pork lettuce wrap) which is what they are known for.

This is one of the best Korean restaurants in Cerritos. The food here is pretty fresh, and not too salty or heavy. I recommend their kal-gook-soo(spicy seafood, or deul-gge) or their vegetarian bibimbap. Their bibimbap is filled with fresh vegetables and they give the rice on the side so you can control your portions. They also have ssambap which is really popular, but it is on the pricer end. The only downside is that their banchan is very minimal and not tasty at all. But, I recommend their kalgooksoo the most because that is what they specialize.

I really liked the noodle soup with clams. The noodles were divine, chewy, and springy. I was struck by a fierce sense of homesickness after eating them. The seafood pancake is so good! Also, the cold, chewy buckwheat noodles in icy broth hit the spot. Only downside is that the bulgogi and kalbi were both a little dry. I would definitely return!

Went for lunch and got the medium sized combo(Med is good for single diners). What came out was– about 12oz of sliced, boiled pork belly a plate various leafy greens(boiled cabbage, tender napa, green leaf lettuce, kale) and raw cukes and carrots Dol sot of bubbling hot bean paste– I LOVEDTHIS! Sliced raw garlic/jalapenos Purple bean rice Beef both soup and various Banchan that were mediocre at best all for $ 10.99. I made my first lettuce wrap with the boiled cabbage, 2 slice pork belly, a generous slathering of hot bean paste and a sliver of raw garlic — – love at first bite. Now I’m worried I have to schlep all the way to Cerritos to get my fix.

I Love Korean Food, but I can’t stand a dirty restaurant… Please think twice before borrowing their scissor. I saw a waitress cut up someone’s noodles, Lick the scissor, wipe it on some dirty towel they use to clean tables, and put it right back in the same container she got the scissor from… Honestly, that’s just not acceptable. Makes me worried about what else they do.

The family and I came here for dinner. We originally went to a more trendy place in Cerritos, but, the 3 hour wait scared us away. After talking to some other people in line at the trendy place, who recommended this place, we decided to come here to try their noodles and wraps. We arrived at 7PM to a parking lot full of cars. Luckily for us, most of the people were at Cho Dang next door. We ordered a mussel noodle soup for the daughter, and a pork belly wrap. After ordering, they brought out our banchans. The banchans were nothing to write home about. Nothing really exciting. The daughter’s mussel noodles soup came out first. It was a large bowl of noodles with lots of mussels in there. The broth was kind of bland. But, the daughter likes bland broth, so it was perfect for her The pork belly wrap came out a little later. It came with a huge dish of vegetables. As I was eating the pork belly wrap, I kept on thinking that I could’ve gotten the same thing at the local Korean Supermarket. They serve samples of this kind of wrap at my local Super H Mart for free, yet here I was wrapping my own food and later paying for it. The pork belly wrap was better than anything supermarket sample that I have ever had. Overall, I thought this was a pretty good restaurant. Nothing can beat the free samples at the supermarket, but, the wraps here were pretty good, although it did take time for me to learn how to wrap the meat in vegetables. I may come back when I am in the area since the family liked it.
