Wide selection on the menu. It was awesome to order yakitori, ramen, and sushi all the same place. Super tasty, coming back soon.

This place was so so… they only had one guy working as a waiter and as a host. .he seemed very tired. The food was pretty good and I did like the Happy Hour special..

The happy hour prices are reasonable. Got to try the yakitori and the yakisoba, both delicious. Also, the gyoza dumplings are tasty.

I wish our server had been rude so I could give this place the one star it deserves. I can’t say I had any problems with her though so. congrats girl! Have a star! We came in around 8:20pm and were told that Happy Hour didn’t start until 9pm. Our server was happy to let us order around 8:45pm though so we grabbed a hot sake and a specialty roll until then. That was kind of her. The roll came out and I was NOT excited for Happy Hour. We ordered the Asian Philly Cheese Steak roll and sad to say that it tasted like nothing. Inside was some cheap meat, mozzarella, jalapenos, onions and of course rice all deep fried… and you couldn’t taste any of it. And or $ 15 a roll? I wanted to ask if they really thought this roll was worth $ 15. I would have had a better time at McDonalds… My boyfriend I regret not bouncing after the roll because we ordered Happy Hour anyway. We decided to try the trip-tip steaks, bacon wrapped quail eggs, and takoyaki. I had a hard time deciding if the takoyaki was undercooked or if they just have a retarded way of making it. I pretty much bit into a blob of flour with a half centimeter long piece of octopus testicle drowned in unagi sauce and cummed on with Japanese mayo. If Ajito were a man, he’d turn me off… They call it ‘tri-tip’, but what I really think they meant was trimmings. I thought she accidentally brought us chicken gizzard! Dry, chunky, pieces of meat. Extremely disappointing. Next was the bacon wrapped quail egg. Bf’s first having it so he liked it. Again, tasteless to me. I’d like to add that we were seated across from one of the booths and noticed that one of the seats were ripped and duct taped. And customers were still seated there? There are too many other good restaurants in this plaza to go to Ajito. Will not be returning.

First time coming here with a co worker, the waitress apologized that there were no more certain type of immitation meat(forgot if it was shrimp or crab) that we have to choose another sushi, although she was kind enough to give us Happy Hour discount instead of paying probably $ 30, we paid $ 14. Love their Reign of Fire, a fiery(pun) concept surrounding the sushi with actual flames in the dish as they served it to you.

Every part of dinner was a mess. My Spicy cold ramen was crap and forgotten until i asked for it. When the spicy tuna roll(we did not order) was left at our table for«free» It offended with and old smell and a mushy texture. When we finally got our originally odered tuna roll sushi, no surprise, it was as forgettable as the hot ramen. Incredibly understaffed. Busted tables and chipped plates. And when I told the manager how displeased i was after paying everything in full with a tip, I get half-assed sorry. I sincerely hope this place closes to make room for a legitimate business that serves better food. THEPARTTHATPISSESMEOFFTHEMOSTISTHELONGWAITTIME.

Mediocre. Exactly what everyone else said. Mediocre food and subpar service. There is nothing for me to recommend because everything was uneventful. We had some rolls and some yakitori off the happy hour menu and it was all just ok. Go to shabu shabu, gyu kaku or umaya. Even the happy hour menu wasn’t worth it. Sigh…

Ajito is not a bad place when it comes to sushi. I ordered a tempura shrimp roll and a tofu salad. The portions were huge and I really enjoyed the food. The service wasn’t bad– there weren’t that many people in there, but the waitress had a very nonchalant attitude as if she just wanted to go home. The ambience is welcoming– dim lighting and casual– chic décor. Go during happy hour for ½ price sushi!

1 star for sopporo on tap. Another star for yakitori. Last star for location. But will not give anymore stars due to the old re heated chickenbheart yakitori. Its very badbto give reheated heart to d omeobe. The gamyness uf the meat comes out like dead flesh. Not appitizing. Any re heated yakitori is unacceptable in Japanese standards. This is not a Japanese owned establishment. Japanese food has to be fresh, quality ingredients, cooked the best way andvserbed at optimum temperature and time. No re heated gizzards, hearts. Soo disappointed.

Visited this place on a weekday for lunch. It’s pretty average. The food was just okay. My husband had the chicken bento plate. I got the spicy miso ramen and spicy tuna rolls. The ramen was just okay. I did like that it was pretty spicy, but it didn’t taste traditional. Everything was just mediocre. One thing that was weird was where they sat us. The entire restaurant was empty, but the server sat us in a table in the front that was in pretty bad condition. The surface of the table was ripped up, the cushion on the seats were taped over. Kind of weird considering the other tables seemed perfectly fine. Can’t complain about the service since we were the only ones there. I gave this place 2 stars, but it’s more of a 2.5. I think if they were located in a different plaza it wouldn’t seem as run down. Unfortunately for them, since they are next to Umaya, King Shabu, and other newer Japanese restaurants, there’s a bigger contrast.

Mediocre. With plenty of potential, Ajito Japanese and Grill was was a let down. Like most Unilocalers would agree, this is the definition of a three star restaurant. Located across the street from Los Cerritos Center in a shopping plaza next to a rotating sushi bar, a fusion tea bar, a ramen house and a popular dessert spot, lies Ajito. Ajito is lightly dimmed with a bit of trendy vibe. The ambience is pretty relaxed. With a decent selection of sushi rolls, yakitorki sticks and a good vartiety of items to choose from, it has several factors to make Ajito a success, especially since the prices are very affordable and reasonable. I choose to order a variety of rolls and several yakitori sticks. Three out of four rolls failed to impress. The fish did not taste fresh, the rice was warm and one roll had a plethora of sauce. As for the yakitori rolls, nothing was memorable. The service was decent and when some of the rolls were returned to the kitchen, it was taken back without hesitation. With so many different restaurants to choose from, I would most likely never return to Ajito Japanese and grill. It simply was just mediocre.

This is our go-to among my group of friends for the price to drink and dine as they have happy hour after 9PM. The seating/table arrangement is kind of a crowded feel. Beers are pretty darn cheap and their full moon is pretty good. Food is ok for the price. If I could I would put 3.5 but I think it leans more to a 3 then 4.

I liked the Full Moon drink. It is nice and refreshing, and quite light tasting. The place is located across the street from the Cerritos mall… careful you don’t pass it because then you will have to turn around, and since there are no U-turns for 2 miles you are gonna have a long drive to come back. It is located in the little center with all the other new asian restaurants and shops. The interior is new, kinda boring and soulless in my humble opinion. The servers were really nice and friendly. The only good we had was the chicken karaage, which was just okay but the portion was big.

Stopped in the plaza and decided to check it out while trying to figure out what to have for lunch. Eh, we had better. Something was off, we think it was the rice? I don’t know. Everything else was just mediocre.

I really like their yakitori w/cold beer. The service is on point, gotten much better in the last couple months. Their rolls need some work but it’s a decent spot for happy hour with half off apps and rolls as well as beer specials. Everything is good, not great as some of the items can be over cooked or dry at times… but good… with…cold beer :) Japanese spot but they serve soju if thats your thing.

50% off all rolls and a nice selection of drinks for happy hour! They are very experimental with the rolls here. I came with two other friends. Between the three of us, we shared five orders of rolls. The two most notable are the Stinking Rose Roll and the Ring of Fire Roll. For drinks, I HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend the Full Moon. It is a beer cocktail with Blue Moon, Peach Schnapps, and orange juice; and for $ 5. The only reason why I knocked down one star in my review is because the table tops could be in better shape. I would knock down only half a star if I could. Our table had large cracks and pieces missing from it. Aesthetically, it just isn’t very appealing and is distracting at first. I love the interior of the rest of the restaurant though. The Yakitori happy hour options, which are $ 2 each or less, sound interesting. Unilocal pictures of some of the items look amazing! I’d like to come back to try some of that.

When its late and my fiancé and I find ourselves hungry, we drive to cerritos and hit this place up mainly due to the 9pm to close Happy Hour which includes drink and izakaya specials along with 50% off sushi rolls, which is a great way to taste your way thru until you find which rolls suit you. I can’t say much for anything else since I’ve only been here particularly just to take advantage of the happy hour, however, I must note that service was a lot more attentive the last time I was here compared to when I first came to this restaurant about a year ago.

3.5* stars I enjoy coming here. Really great happy hour. Staff is friendly most of the time. Plenty of parking. Lots of room for seating inside. Sushi isnt the greatest however, it is far from bad. The booths do need to be reupholstered asap. Overall its a good spot for a fun outting that wont break the pocket book.
