The Mac & Cheese is epic. Ask for an extra side of the cheese sauce — it’s worth it. Pretty good house-made porter and stout; the stout’s a little crisp for my preference, but it still had a great flavor. Cod fish & chips — solid, but not earth-shattering. I was going to get the fried oysters, but they’re not fresh; they’re frozen. Bummer that a chain as well-represented as McMenamins can’t figure out how to get fresh oysters in the PNW. Go figure. The smoked-pork Cuban sandwich was superb.

Have had bad table service, and good service. This place can get really busy, and you may be forgotten, until you’re asked to seat yourself. Food is pretty good.

So good! The place has a cool atmosphere, the service is great, and the food appears to be of good quality. The huevos rancheros were cooked perfectly(also not doused in cheese and greasy beans as is so common around here), and I was impressed that they had loose leaf tea rather than just bagged.

We’ve sat at the bar now four or five times due to having business in Centralia and have enjoyed our time. We’re there on Sunday afternoons and have only sat at the bar. The bartenders are great and provide excellent service so far. We drink a Manhattan and their cider and so far so good. One time there was a brand new bartender, she made the Manhattan like a seasoned pro. Typically order the sweet potato fries and wings and each time they come out great. Atmosphere is fine too, the old wood looks great. Only thing I guess I could suggest is to make sure the men’s restroom is cleaned more often. A couple times I’ve gone in there and it does have a bit of a pungent odor, but not bad enough to complain. It’s a very old place but maybe have the staff go in there more often to clean it. Other than that it’s a fabulous place.

Beautiful building well worth checking out! Way over priced food and drinks for the location and the product. Cool movies theater with a great price but still doesn’t outweigh the other.

I have to give kudos to this particular McMenamins. A small town, yet vegan friendly! I know other McMenamins have the curry rice bowls on their menu, but never when I am looking for it. My modus operandi has been to travel to McMenamins and have a drink, maybe a salad or hummus and Unilocal for a nearby vegan friendly place. There really wasn’t very much in Centralia. We looked at the menu and were pleasantly surprised to see the Jamaican Bowl and the West African peanut bowl. We got one of each, and both were delicious and fresh! Service was great too!

Agree with the last poster Helen that the service is way below par. Just got up and left due to no service. Sat down and was ignored for 10 minutes while those around us were served. The last few trips things have steadily gone down hill. Most costly, least interesting food menu in the area. Service is hit or miss. This place is officially out of our rotation for good. Too many other great choices around to deal with getting pissed every time we give this place another shot. Definitely try Judy’s Country kitchen on the other side of the freeway. Always had excellent service and food there.

Same inexperienced, amateur-level servers this chain is becoming infamous for. Hiring staff with likely zero to none table service experience does absolutely nothing for those of us expected to shell out $ 5.80 for a bagel with cream cheese, and $ 15.80 for a smallish breakfast bowl. Best sit at the bar, there you are at least assured of some semblance of service and skill.

The entrance was a little confusing. It looked like I was walking into a kitchen. At first I was a little frustrated that our family of 6 was invited to find our own seating in the crowded restaurant, but then another staff member approached us and told us about an additional room in the back that would accommodate us. The servers were extremely friendly, helpful, and quick! The kids were even given coloring sheets to keep them occupied. I ordered oysters, but they delivered fish and chips by mistake. Rather than taking the food away, they let us keep the mistake while my food being cooked. The oysters were delicious! Perhaps more battered and fried longer than most restaurants do, but EXACTLY how I like them!

Really neat awesome ambiance, but the service absolutely sucked. We came for dinner on a busy Saturday night, but the least you could do is acknowledge your customers. The host guy was an ass. When our table was ready he just pointed at it like he was commanding a dog to sit. He sat us in the middle of the crowded bar, to which we sat for 10 minutes without a single acknowledgement from the several bar tenders tending bar. Then when I asked him if there were any possibility that we could sit somewhere inside the actual restaurant and what that wait might be, he flat out said no because he sat us at a table perfectly fitted for two. Was really looking forward to actually trying dinner, but since we were hungry, had to deal with that guy’s shitty attitude, and didn’t even get a menu after sitting there for 10 – 15 minutes, we cut our loss, were over it and left.

I’ve been here twice and tonight I came in close to 11 and the bartender was super chill, fast service, and the food was super yummy. I got the veggie pizza, always glad to see vegetarian options at places. For coming in late I got really great service and the bartender even gave me a tour of the place! I didn’t realize how big it was, I will be back again! I wish I got the bartenders name, he was very welcoming like it was his business. You could tell he really cared about this place.

The two of us took Amtrak from Seattle for an afternoon get-away in Centralia and stumbled upon this very cool place. I wasn’t sure it was really a bar at first. The entry is confusing, looking an awful lot like a little gift shop for some small town museum. Once you walk past all that and settle into the bar, however, you’re in for a treat. The bar is totally old-school, adorned with arts & crafts style stained glass sconces and dark wood everything. The flickering fire in the wood stove gave us a cozy feel coming in from the rainy cold and within minutes we had a pint in hand. The beer selection is good, and the steaks and oysters on the menu were worth the wait. We sat at the bar and got the best service. TS the bartender was welcoming, witty, and professional. He knew all about Centralia’s cultural offerings and was long-suffering as we asked too many questions about the Clock Tower, the Tractor Parade, and other aesthetic highlights. We enjoyed several pints and were surprised by how quickly the time had passed. It was a great place to spend a rainy Valentine’s Day. We’ll definitely be back.

So disappointed. I used to come here often but I just recently moved back and came here for dinner with a friend and the service was a nightmare. The waitress we had acted like she was annoyed to be even waiting on us and hurried us along to order(which we never got to do) then halfway through there was a sudden wait staff change and our waitress then half ass introduced to our new waitress who didn’t acknowledge us at all. we continued to sit there for another 20 minutes with no one checking up on us once we sat there waiting to order but our so called server seemed to preoccupied in bussing the other empty tables than to come over and at least acknowledge that we were even there. So we walked out and left … Shit not once acknowledged by any single staff member This experience was literally infuriating

Good bar food. The waiter seemed a bit overwhelmed. Also one of the cups was dirty and had to send it back. I’ve been to many of the McMinimums Restaurants. This one is decent but not my favorite. But overall a good place to get drinks and burgers.

Great place, good team on board!!! They enjoy the«funkiness» of the place and really went out of the way to take care of our special party. We did a memorial there and it was just nice.

Our passport brought us to this Mcmenamins. Food was delicious, really enjoyed the crab fondue and steamer clams along with the beer flight. Its neat that all the mcmenamins have beers crafted just for that location. Our waiter was very pleasant and helpful with suggestions of beer choices. We would definitely visit again.

We’re McMenamins passport owners and that’s what brought us to this one. The atmosphere is really neat. They preserved the old Olympic Club and have great photos and articles about it as decoration around the place. We came at breakfast and it was really good! I had biscuits and gravy while the hubby had a scramble of spinach, white cheddar and bacon. We shared breakfasts because they were that good. Our daughter loved the eggs and she’s a picky egg girl. The restaurant was very accommodating of our energetic little girl and didn’t mind the shrieks of excitement she was having. They also had a great variety of games to play which helped keep her occupied. They let us take some crayons and paper for the road thankfully since we were road tripping. If you’re in the area this place is definitely worth a stop!
