Ran out of crawfish. Ordered chicken fried steak instead. Mashed potatoes were instant mashed potatoes. Brown gravy was Sysco instant gravity. Food came out cold. Waitress had an attitude. Not good at all.

I always get their crawfish when in season… Can’t beat the flavor! Their French Dip is also very good… Friendly service

Service was absolutely terrible for the 2nd time. Food was decent but not great. Got sat at a table by a hostess that seemed like she could care less about being there. Was at the table for 10 minutes before I flagged down said hostess to let her know we hadn’t seen a waiter/waitress yet and then waited another 5 minutes before our waiter finally came to the table. Waiter never introduced himself and only came over once to see if we would like drink refills. This is the second time we have had this same experience so Sammys in Central will no longer be getting our business.

Perfect place to go if you want your to go order messed up, rancid lettuce, muddy lettuce, cold food, and poor service. Overpriced for the food that is served. Today solidified why I prefer to eat at other places when I’m at work. THEREISMUDONMYSALADTODAY… I found it when I was about to eat the first bite. Their manager told me that they got the ingredients shipped to them fresh… and he assured me that it gets washed. LIES!!!

We have had the blackened alligator and the shrimp étouffée. We loved the food and the atmosphere. We will be back.

I was craving hot wings and a salad for dinner so I decided to go to Sammy’s tonight. I ordered hot wings as an appetizer and a topped Caesar salad for my entrée. Let me first say that I’ve never been a fan of Sammy’s but the food tonight was pretty decent. The wings were a bit salty, but I thought it was because the wings were over seasoned. I like a lot of sauce so I ordered extra wing sauce on the side. I realized that the sauce is what makes the wings so salty. They were fried crispy yet still juicy on the inside which I like. The ranch dressing is good and cuts the saltiness, even tho I’d rather a better wing sauce, but they weren’t the worst wings I’ve ever had. I’d say they’re maybe a 3.5÷5 rating alone. The salad was a basic Caesar salad topped with blackened shrimp. I do like the fact that they garnish the salads with cucumbers, boiled egg, and Parmesan cheese. I like ranch dressing instead of Caesar on my salad but it still tasted great! The only reason I gave this review 3 stars is because I haven’t really found a dish that I absolutely LOVE at Sammy’s. Everything is just decent.

Had the cheese fries with bacon, jalapeño, and ranch dressing for and appetizer. Awesome! Had the catfish platter, with twice baked potatoes. Taste was amazing. Environment is nice and layed back. Good for lunch or dinner.

This place has become a new favorite of mine. There is not a whole lot to write about; the décor is homey, the service is ok, but the food is awesome! I’ve only had a couple of things on the menu, but you just cant go wrong with $ 10 for fried chicken and mashed potatoes like your mom would have made it. I’ve also had the crawfish etouffe on occasion and it is good too. Hopefully I can bring myself to try some more of the menu later on, but for now I will definitely be coming back for some fried chicken.

I love this place I go there quite often, they have very good ceaser salad. Might have to call in for a table sometimes because they are ALWAY very busy. My mom also likes the catfish Acadian, their chicken parm is very good as well as their spaghetti and meat sauce. I go here quite often the services is nice the atmosphere is great and I love eating here.

Nope, food not consistent /crawfish so so — ckn salad DRY — service= non– service — was told«if you need anything yell at me» — restaurant was not busy — sat in bar area — had to ask for utensils — asked for a dessert menu to try and leave on a good note — did not get one — but did get gratuity added…

For the best crawfish in town, Sammy’s is the place to be and believe me, I’ve tried most of the crawfish around town. As for other food, my favorite is the prime rib poboy; sub the fries for onion rings. Although they have recently expanded the parking lot, expect at least a 20 minute wait during the peak hours of lunch and dinner. During these peak hours it can be quite loud so if your planning on having an quit conversation, perhaps choose elsewhere. The staff are always friendly, country girl types as opposed to the hipster types at the chimes. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for family and friend gatherings alike.

Great food. Dining in has always been very good with not a long wait from ordering to food on the table. I am giving three stars because on two occasions I have had to drive back, after ordering food to go, because my order was not complete. They have forgotten my salads etc… and on one occasion while dining in there were two large groups of people who required mulitple tables to be pulled together, wound up on each side of our table for two. It felt very crowded to be in the middle of two huge tables, and there was no space to move us, so we took the remainder of our food to go. The food however is always good.

we have eaten at Sammy’s in Central many many times. The food is usually very good, but once in a while its not so good. The service is the same usually quick and attentive but on occasions not so good.

I really like Sammy’s, been eating it for a long time. Solid gumbo and étouffée, but their best is fried seafood and sandwiches. Big place with lots of seating and family friendly. They do have a separate bar area.

Darn good mufaletta! If you’ve eaten at Sammy’s you are familiar with good food in large quantities they offer. Quality varies a bit from visit to visit, but the food is always at least good, and the service is good. My wife, stepson, and I ate there Saturday afternoon, and while the chicken was a little over-cooked for my wife and stepson in their dishes, I can tell you their NOLA-style mufaletta was on very good bread, and had a very nice olive dressing on it. My own suggestion is that if you order it with extra olive dressing and mayo, as we did coming back to Texas on Monday, which was great road food while driving. You will find it as good as or superior to any mufaletta I’m aware of in Baton Rouge. I also suggest you try the fried onion rings, as they are quite a large order, and very good also. The only problem is after you try to eat all the food they serve, who has room for dessert? They also have a competent bar.
