I would definitely go there if I visit cedar rapids again. from the outside, it seemed like the place is tiny, so I was very surprised when I walked into the café. the seating extends to the back! i like their furniture and décor(did not take a picture this time since the place was packed!). A lot of good arts on the wall! Their menu is very clearly written on the board. Got a dirty chai which was delicious. While i was there, i got into a mini-incident — I got a glass of water while i was waiting for my drink to be made, but to my dismay i was not able to find a place to put my dirty glass(meaning, there was no place in sight that collects dirty dishes. i guess the baristas were kind enough to go to every table and collect the dirty dishes for ppl). so i was awkwardly standing around for a few minutes until a friendly barista noticed my situation and kindly took the glass for me. can’t wait to go back and enjoy some afternoon coffee there!

I stopped in on my way to work on a busy Saturday morning and it took over 15 minutes to get a coffee so I asked them to cancel my order because I couldn’t wait any longer or I would be late to work. I gave it another try a week ago and unfortunately must have stopped by when the man who took my tea order was having a bad day. I had asked which teas were green tea and he curtly told me to look at the board. I had no idea what board he was referring to so I had to ask him again and it seemed to just annoy him even more. They must be doing something right because it’s always busy. I am just picking the wrong days to go.

Hip and swanky. Coffee gold. Their pour overs are the Clever Dripper kind. Takes a little longer but totally worth the wait. Regular drip is good too. Visit at least once if you’re in Cedar Rapids.

My friend and I ventured here on a very cold winter day but we were quickly greeted by the warm atmosphere of Brewhemia. I was very impressed by how clean and simply decorated this place was. Nice wooden table tops, silver steel chairs, and plenty of space to do work or have a nice cup of coffee with some friends. I ordered a sugar-free hazelnut latte and my friend ordered a dirty chai latte. Both were great! Sometimes sugar-free drinks can be a hit or miss but the latte I ordered was made well. The espresso is pulled ristretto style which gives the espresso a nice bold, less bitter, and slightly sweeter taste which I really like. My friend also enjoyed the dirty chai latte which wasn’t too sweet or too milky. The atmosphere of this place is perfect for studying! Not too quiet and not too loud. Will most definitely come back the next time I’m in the area!

Easily the best coffee shop I have been to in Iowa so far. We went in on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty quiet. I wish I would have brought my school work along, it seemed like there were a lot of other students there doing work. I also LOVE the atmosphere of this place. It’s pretty hipster but the décor is simple and cute and I could definitely see myself spending a lot of time here. As far as the coffee, honestly I am not much of a coffee drinker, but the friend I was with is and she approved! I got a dirty chai and it was one of the best that I have ever had. Next time I come back I definitely plan on getting some food as well. Reasonable prices, excellent coffee, excellent staff, EXCELLENT atmosphere. If this place was closer to Iowa City, I would be here all the time!

This is a pretty great coffee shop underneath CSPS, across the street from the New Bo Market. Their food is pretty solid and they have some craft taps as well.

Fun atmosphere, fabulous menu and delicious food! Love the café spread with breakfast, coffee and lunch. Desserts looked phenomenal too. Enjoyed the ½ & ½ combo– herb citrus quinoa salad & curry chicken croissant. Salad was fresh and flavorful– loves the Medtn inspiration with feta and kalamata olives. Curry chicken salad surprised me as my favorite part of the meal. Perfect hint of spice with the sweet curry taste, so yummy. Will definitely be back, wishing I lived closer!

I come here everyday! Love the coffee, food, people and the atmosphere. They have growlers that are filled up with their ice coffee for only 10 dollars! Lasts me about half the week… only because I have a coffee obsession. Seriously check this place out. Up and coming hipster place!

Found an awesome new café in Downtown Cedar Rapids. Great vibe and amazing coffee! Good breakfast and lunch menu. Walked In to see a big case full of bakery items as well. Had the Mother Earth Breakfast bowl. Farm Fresh egg scramble with veggies w/gluten free bread… so excited since I have a gluten allergy. Also had the dirty Chai… yum!!! Have to come back in the evening for local craft beer… Will be back next time I am in the area…

This place is awesome and a gem!!! I am glad that I found it, best Mocha I’ve had for a while the froth has an actual flavor!!! good place for meeting friends or taking your partner to, I would like to try their breakfast in future because it looked soooo good! I’ve ordered white chocolate raspberry scones, it was not too sweet and much butter in it, not my favorite since I have very sweet tooth, other than that it’s good place to try while you are in town!

This is one of those coffee shops you geek out over and make up excuses to visit. Top 5 reasons I’m still smiling from my experience at Brewhemia: 1.) the hot hipster coffee staff with friendly smiles(I’ll gladly accept your attention and baked goods) 2.) creative eats like a coconut shredded blob that reminded me of puppy chow(in texture not taste) 3.) they take their coffee very seriously — and tea, too. 4.) The façade is charming alone — however, the beauty continues as you enter the shop. 5.) They have a Unilocal check-in offer!

I’m feeling conflicted about my review. They have excellent quiche, but you have to be careful. The last time I went there I was told they could not reheat the quiche and I had to take it as carryout only. They slapped it in a take out box and handed it to me. No fork, no napkins. They were too busy chatting with one another and my order took maybe fifteen minuites. I happened to walk out past the manager on my way out, who was quite unhappy about that. He took my quiche, warmed it up in the oven and made sure it was properly garnished. This time I got a fork, the napkins, even some cream cheese. Heck, he even gave it to me in a bag to carry it in. So while the food is good, and the dirty chai is good the hipster service can be a bit.lacking.

This place is so hip and clean — my picture-perfect café atmosphere! The bakery case always looks delicious(though I haven’t tried anything from it yet since I always get preoccupied with the coffee menu), and my coffee drinks have been perfect every time. I’m always on the lookout for cafes that serve ethically-sourced coffee that’s roasted and brewed with strong attention to detail, and Brewhemia is nailing it. These guys serve French press, siphon, and nitro brew methods — my first clues that they know a thing or two about making a good cup of joe!

I already liked this place when it used to be Brewed Café, before changing ownership and becoming Brewhemia. As I said in my Brewed Café review, I love the spot in the historic building in the New Bohemia district of Cedar Rapids. One of my favorite coffee shop environments in Iowa, for pure ambiance. Previously, this was the only place in the IC/Cedar Rapids area that offered the«clever brew» preparation method, which is immersion but without the grounds you typically get in a French Press. So kind of like a pour over/French press hybrid. With the new ownership, Brewhemia has stepped up its game by offering two new coffee options that are rare to find ’round these parts. First, you must try the Nitro tap coffee, you will thank me. Imagine the texture and richness of a Guinness, but coffee instead of beer. As I’m writing this, I want to drive to CR just to have some more of this goodness. Second, they’ve added Siphon press as another prep method. Previously Caffe Crema was the only place in the area to offer this. Brewhemia does charge a steep price for this(I think it was $ 12 – 15!), but one day i may try it to see if they pull it off as well as the Nitro… They’ve also improved the food. During my last visit, I had a goat cheese and habanero quiche that was packed with flavor. They also have a lot of vegetarian-friendly options. The food here tops most of what you’ll find in New Bo Market. Perfect Cedar Rapids 1 – 2 punch? Brewhemia + Lion Bridge. Looking forward to enjoying this a couple more times before the summer ends.

I chose Brewhemia on a whim, cycling through the few coffee spots in Cedar Rapids. Lucky for me, I chose a winner. First and foremost, they nailed it with their coffee. For me, I could care less about food and other — the coffee needs to be awesome. Just so it’s listed in a review, as of 7⁄20 they’re serving Kickapoo Roasters out of Viroqua, Wisconsin. Solid roaster specializing in FTO coffees. When I stepped in, I was delighted to see a slow bar(Clever Drippers). They had three types of coffee available(Ethiopia Yirgacheffe, Summer Blend, and Dark Roast). I chose the Ethiopia — great decision. While I didn’t order it, I was impressed to see a Yama cold brew dripper on the back wall and siphon pot service. Cedar Rapids, you have a coffee gem. The other three folks I was with all purchased bar drinks. Great espresso and crema. Perfectly steamed milk. Polished latte art. Next time, I’ll have to stop in later and check out their food and tap list(quite a few Iowa beer companies I’ve never heard of). Definitely worth a stop if you need morning coffee — and I anticipate their evening service would be great as well.

The Dirty chai was everything I could have imagined, my only regret was not ordering a larger size. The eclectic feel of this place makes you feel right at home, no matter who you are. Service was prompt and friendly while not being intrusive. A few coworker and I visited here to have an off site meeting away from the hustle and bustle of out workspace and to tap into the«creative» vibes… it worked perfectly! Will add this to the list of noisy yet productive places to work when needed!

Made a stop at Brewhemia this morning before leaving Cedar Rapids and I’m in love! It’s a good thing I’m not a Rapidian or I’d go broke at this place! They serve breakfast food, sweets, coffee and espresso beverages, AND(mostly local) alcohol. The baristas were kind and helpful, and everything we ordered came out quickly and was delicious! The walls feature local artists and even display some artwork from students in the area. I was surprised to see that you could order absinthe in their bar. That’s something unique that you definitely don’t see everywhere! Do yourself a favor Unilocalers and stop by Brewhemia, you won’t regret it! Also, while you’re there check out the bookstore that is in the same building.
