Conn’s is the best place I have ever gotten a tv from. The staff is friendly and they were able to work with us. I’ll explain my story of my tv buying day. We went to fry’s, and fry’s is a nightmare. They had a sale on a TV for $ 599. So I called them before going to buy it and the guy said they had«plenty». So I picked up my wife and was ready to get it. He said they had sold out 15 minutes ago and could not sell me the floor model. We came back the next day to see if any had been returned and decided on another model. I had a floor guy helping us who wasn’t all that much help. We decided for a better model and tried for financing. The company denied us immediately. So we decided on a unit anyway and was going to pay outright for it. The guy from who was helping us had to leave in the middle of us checking out. So we left immediately. We then decided to go to conn’s. This was a plus. They had better prices anyway. So we decided on what we wanted and decided for financing. Not only did they approve us immediately, they gave us a better interest rate. The person who helped us was named Keith. Keith was so helpful and nice. He was willing to show me how everything looked and try out the each TV and equipment if I wanted. Things they were unwilling to do at Fry’s. All in all it was a great purchase and I’m glad we went there. 5 stars!

Be prepared for the high pressure sell and being followed around. I went looking for a 42″ LCDTV. From the moment I walked into the store, I was bombarded with sales people. I guess this isn’t so bad if you know what you want and plan on buying it. I was still in the shopping around stage. That’s when I look and take notes and research at home. It wouldn’t be bad either if they just followed you. Nope, they follow and talk, and talk, and talk, and talk. At one point, I turned to sales man and asked if he had an off switch and to please use it. I made the mistake of asking a question. I got the answer, a sales pitch, and was being herded to a table so I can fill out a credit form. I told the sales guy that I didn’t need to fill in the form as I wasn’t buying at this time. He insisted that it will make the process go faster when I am ready to buy. I looked at him and told him do I look stupid. He said no. I fired back then don’t fill in this credit form and I knew I had excellent credit. Also told him it dings my credit score whenever someone checks my credit so I do not want it checked UNTIL I am ready to buy. I proceeded to walk out with sales guy still following me. I’m surprised he didn’t climb in my car with me. Bottom Line — If you look elsewhere Conn’s is not cheap.

Conns is, hand’s down, the best place to buy appliances in Austin. The offer a price guarantee. If you can find a lower price for the same appliance, they will match the price and give you an extra $ 50 on top of that. When we bought a stainless steel fridge at Conns, I looked EVERYWHERE to beat the price. Online, in stores, catalogs. Price couldn’t be beat.(Of course, if you are comparing online, you need to include shipping cost.) The sales people have always been very knowledgeable and helpful. Never condescending or rude. They also have a special discount if you have a builder account, which is nice if you have a rent house etc. The location near Northcross Mall is quite convenient, too.

Pretty sucky store. Go in for a small purchase and the commissioned-sex-worker(yeah, I used a euphemism for the«w» word — bite me) has to «register» you at a primitive TxDot-surplus terminal. Be firm — offer to walk out if they proceed with that process. The idiots still demand your DL — I will be complaining to my CC company on that one. All this red tape and arguing means that checkout takes over 10 minutes. While other stores make it easy for customers to walk in/out with their purchase, this place makes the purchase seem like buying a car — way to go genuises!
