I just discovered the cutest little restaurant that serves New American/Mexican cuisine right on the edge of Old Downtown Cedar Hill. Trios Grill is just south of Beltline Road on Cooper Street off of Highway 67. Why in the world has no one told me about this place yet? Trio’s Grill is inside an adorable little pier and beam house probably no larger than 1500 square feet. The entrance is right through the front door and after you go through a small entry hall you’re greeted in the living room of the house which is the dining room of the restaurant. Today was such a gorgeous day, no one was eating inside. The outdoor eating area is in the back yard. There is a super homey outdoor bar with flat screens, a huge waterfall, and a fire place. Seriously it’s just the cutest place ever. I can’t wait for an excuse to celebrate something so we can all meet up here. This place is really unique for the area, and the Chef Hector Angeles is looking to impress. He delivers. This is the most upscale menu I’ve seen south of Oak Cliff. It’s Downtown Dallas dining in the suburbs. It’s so nice to have something other than chips or bread and butter as a starter. We were served roasted red bell pepper pesto before we ordered. Besides the amazing food, the BEST thing about this place? They have a kitty! Garfield is very sweet and affectionate and likes mahi mahi. I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to be able to get this level of cuisine in a land full of chain burger restaurants. Chef Hector’s Ay Caramba chips are like amped up, homemade Cool Ranch Doritos. We took a bag home. The bathroom was clean and adorably decorated with a mirror perfect for selfies. Jonathan and I tried a little bit of everything and every bite was fresh and prepared perfectly. Check out my website for my complete review with photos

Seriously fantastic. NO wait on Saturday at 7pm. How is that possible the ceviche, the enchiladas, the rib eye, the fajitas were absolutely perfect. Great service too. If you wait a few extra minutes to get perfect food it is worth it. Go here not the other local spots. They deserve your business.

By far one of the best«hole in the wall» /«don’t judge the book by its cover» places I have ever been to. The chef was phenomenal, the staff was phenomenal, everything about this place was amazing. The drinks are great, the food is great. I will definitely be a regular there

My wife and I have passed this place at least 100 times and always said«we need to try that place sometime». Well we started to another place and remember, at the last second Trios, in Cedar Hill. Trevor greeted us with a genuinely sincere hello and seated us immediately. The menu was filled with a bunch of eye catching choices. I went with the lamb chops and my wife the peppered ribeye. Oh yeah, we shared what turned out to the be best ceviche ever as an appetizer. The steak and lamb was off the charts and was surpassed only by the first class service by Trevor. After our meal the head chef and owner Hector stopped by our table and visited with us for a few. Friends, if you’re in the Cedar Hill area and would like the kind of food and service one would expect from Del Frisco’s you owe it to yourself to visit Trios Grill. Bön Appetit…

I have eaten here many, many times & have NEVER been disappointed. The food is absolutely delicious. Enchiladas Del Mar is my favorite but everything is good. Chef Hector is the best. We were also there on 2÷14÷15(Valentine’s Day) The wait was a little longer but nothing compared to what another poster implied. This is a small restaurant with food cooked fresh when ordered. Going to a restaurant on Valentine’s Day is always challenging.

If I could I would give it 10 stars! Honestly, there is not one thing I have ever tasted that was less than perfect! The Pecan Crusted Chicken is delicious! Fried Lobster tastes like little drops of heaven(there is even a lobster taco to work up your appetite) I could eat 20 Trompos and still want more! The bar has a very laid back ambiance and has some of the best bartenders working every night! Don’t even get me started on the desserts here! The Grand Marnier Crème Brulee, the Teaser, Ice Cream Nachos, Peaches Victoria(my fave of faves), and the Triple Eruption Chocolate, cake is to die for! I’m sure I left a few out but they are just the !! Perfect place to come for a quiet date night or family outing! There is something for Everyone at Trios Grill Chef Hector is the best hands down!!!

Poor service, long wait time, cold food. My first time at Trios was a series of unfortunate events, where drink refills and chips and dip are scarce, service is very slow, and food is average. Firstly, the waitress sat us at a table that was reserved for another party and consequently we were moved into a small, isolated, dark room. Secondly, the wait time for food was very long and the sliders came out cold. Oh, and why is it so hard to get ketchup around here. Also, where are the refills! We had two waitresses and still service was slow. Thirdly, how long does it take to get the ticket! We just wanted to leave! Our first experience here was very unfortunate. We were deceived by the fun, outdoor patio but extremely turned off by the isolated ambiance and poor service. Waiters/waitresses need more training. One thing I would recommend is Campuzanos located 5 minutes away off of Beltline Rd. Now that is quality food and great waitstaff.

Met my friends here for dinner on Friday night. Just us 4 ladies at 5:30 on the patio and a few smokers at the bar. My first tip off should have been the green water in the non running fountain. When asked what the happy hour drink prices were, we were told they were $ 1 off the regular price. We were given a new waitress working her first night. She didn’t know what beers they had, what any prices were or what type sauce was used in a dish. We had to ask for forks & chips that were supposed to be complimentary. I ordered quesadillas. They were actually quite good. My friend order salmon cakes and said they were dried out. My other friends ordered ceviche and it was flooded with shredded lettuce. The patio was very hot and the fan we had pointed at our table from our early arrival was taken over by a white trash crowd getting trashed. The guys were even using the restroom behind a fence near the patio. Another was running around barefoot drunk, and several others had their shirts off and wrapped around their heads like they were at a college party. Disgusting behavior and one if the owners sat with them and allowed this. We asked for our bill on separate checks and it took an hour for them to get it straight. They added gratuity to a party of 4 and then overcharged us on our credit cards. The menu was interesting but the Dicks Last Resort atmosphere outweighed the good food. I would never sit on the patio again and not sure if I would return. The chef needs a more serious partner

There seems to be a Doctor Jekyll, Mr. Hyde complex about this place. This is primarily due to the bar. The bar is homegrown and a beer drinking, shots type of place with a Boss Hogg, Cooter type of vibe. Set that right here. The chef is a different story. Chef Hector is the real deal. He has worked for major concepts, like Nana at the Anatole. The marriage of the kitchen and the bar is akin to the relationship of Andy Griffith and the Darlings. Chef Hector is the consummate chef. He is what you would expect from a boutique restaurant. He takes pride in his food and it is good. You have to try the ceviche. He cooks as good a steak as you will find in Dallas. I love when the chef is passionate about his craft. If you ever have the chance to meet him, you should. It is a vast and welcome difference from the bar. This place is close enough to get good food to go or just move to a quiet corner and enjoy yourself. It is a shame the bar brings the place down because it is a gem on the south side of town. Go see Hector and tolerate the bar.

Good Food, Good Service, Great Bar This place is tucked away in Cedar Hill, but it really is a nice find. Normally the food is right on, and the service is always fantastic. The menu has a lot of variety, the fajitas are always a favorite, but they also have seafood enchiladas, great ribeye steaks, scampi, and even great bar food. They have remodeled the outdoor bar, and it is really nice, but the restaurant is what always brings me back. Service, and provided by younger adults is sometimes hard to come by in our neighborhood, but this restaurant really trains their staff and it shows. The food is very good and even though when we ordered a special Porterhouse Steak that was 40oz., it did not turn out just right, the problem was resolved asap and the second steak they brought out was perfect. I like how they handled the problem, and the end result was a great meal. You can feel confident in coming here that not only will you have a good meal, but you will also have a great night.

I don’t know why Trios doesn’t come to mind more often when we are looking for a place to go for a night out. This place is really good. The owner chef is Mexican and the menu is dominated by Mexican recipes that are delicious. I tend to order the fajitas because I am not venturesome enough and I know that they are always great and they go really good with the margaritas. I do recommend that your drink of choice with your meal is the margarita,(margaritas plural). The Mexicans are really smart when they warn you not to drink the water. Hell, then you have to buy the booze. Just kidding, the margaritas here help to make the meal something special. No matter what you order, you won’t leave hungry, the portions are very generous. If you are a lite eater, you may want to order an appetizer, or salad and split a main course with your companion. For me, the food is too good for me to share with anyone. During the summer there is an outside bar that is usually filled with happy people to have a good time with and, the drinks are good. Especially the margaritas. Did I get the point across that I like their margaritas? There is also patio seating. Remember Trios Grill when you are looking for some place fun for a night out. By the way, they are also open for lunch.

Although I didn’t care to be seated by the kitchen window, I noticed this place has won a ton of awards for best chef and best Mexican food in the DFW area over the last few years. I had the mac & cheese with bacon and it was totally different than what I was expecting, but so good! I loved the way they made it. I didn’t try any desserts yet, but I will definitely be coming back to try more items.

Trios is one of those great places that is close enough to not be a pain to get to, good enough to satisfy a craving and affordable enough to remove any guilt. That being said, me and the Mrs spontaneously went to Trios on Valentine’s to grab a bite. I was a little skeptical and all being that it was V-Day but they had about 3 tables not reserved and were able to seat us immediately. Our waiter was Chip and let me tell you… this guy could easily be working in a 5-star eatery. Very knowledgeable, friendly, funny and helpful. You’d hear him talking to the chef in the kitchen and his replies would be «yes Chef» or «thank you Chef». Very professional. That goes a long way in my book. For dinner we split an appetizer of the Trompos — those shrimp wrapped in rice noodles and then deep fried. They served them on a bed of dressed(raspberry vinaigrette) greens which was very nice. The shrimp were delicious and the small salad was nice as well. For dinner we both got fish entrees. Wifey had the grilled Snapper and I got the catfish — seasoned with the blackened seasoning but grilled instead of seared(blackened) on the stove. Both were fantastic and even the sides(garlic mashed potatoes and veggies) were scraped clean off the plate. We didn’t do desert so no comment there. One thing I notice about a restaurant I really really like is when something is different. Usually it’s in a negative way but not that night. I was so satisfied and impressed with it that I felt compelled to write about it

Ball caps welcome! Be sure to pet the turtle in the open air aquarium before you begin your fantastic voyage of culinary titillation from the best restaurant within hundreds of feet. Not sure where the bathroom is? Keep your eyes peeled for the door that never is fully shut. Bonus: basket ball hoop located in the back when you want to burn off some of those extra calories!
