Good food. They load you up with chicken and sides. I’m gonna try something else next time though. Really good service. I’d return. They feed you well.

Get your gall bladder in gear, y’all! Whoa. Six of us – two of my sons, three of my cousins, and myself – sauntered on over to Babe’s. I had no idea of what was in store, but my uncle was quite excited that they were taking us, and said to «be sure to get the mashed potatoes». What an interesting place! It’s definitely got a down-South feel to it, as the restaurant is one gigantic barn. As soon as we were seated, Danyelle the waitress came over to school us and help us figure out their way of doing things. Of the five main menu items they offered(catfish, fried chicken, broasted chicken, chicken fingers and country fried steak), the choice was easy for us: we just got all of the chicken. For sides, we got the delectable mashed potatoes and green beans. The chicken was crisp and perfectly fried; broasted chicken was good, but not quite *as* good. My uncle was right about the potatoes, so I happily consumed what I think amounted to several bowls of them(note to self: Texan eating is not good for being able to fit in your same pants). The green beans were good, but be forewarned that I think they had a lot of bacon fat or something in them. They tasted wonderful, but they were for sure«down home» style. For the sides, they keep ‘em comin’ as long as you can handle it. Doggie bags are hanging on a post, for guests who can’t finish their meat. No one said anything about the salad, but YUM!!! It was just iceberg lettuce but LANDSAKES!!! What do they put on it??? Some sort of sweet vinaigrette. I could come here every week just for the salad alone. The biscuits were delicious and obviously homemade. It wasn’t expensive, either! I’m ready to go back. :)

Can’t say enough good things about this place. The chicken is soooo good and the unlimited sides are like icing on the cake. If you got a large group of hungry people that you have to tame, bring them to this place and I guarantee they will not leave hungry.

Yum yum and more yum. Big place but nice and simple. The sides are simple from mashed potatoes, corn, green beans and salad. I love the chicken, tenders and fish. You can go wrong and you won’t go hungry. You’ll get your money’s worth.

It’s simple, good, no frills food. Great service, fun atmosphere. Love the family style sides, they were a hit with me, not so much with my hubby(he’s hard to impress). The chicken was super juicy & crispy. The biscuits were Amazing and really close to my own homemade biscuits… add that honey & my lil guy and I were in heaven. I’ll definitely bring my GG and Nanna here, they’ll love it. Also get price and value!

The chicken was burnt and we got it. You can hear Managers yelling at waitstaff in the back over shifts being covered. Horrible management at this location

My family and I went to Babes for the first time last Saturday. I got the chicken tenders which were really good and not greasy at all. My husband got the chicken fried steak and it was over done and the steak was super dry. The waitres automatically assumed that we have been there and asked for our order. We are like ummmm we have no clue what yall have other than chicken. She starts rattling off what they have and we ordered. We sat there for almost 30 minutes until our food finally came. The waitress never came to check on us until our food was in the way… never refilled our glasses or anything. The food was great but the sevice was a nightmare and the table that we sat at rocked and the waitress knew and still didn’t move us. I loved the food but a menu would have been great and more sides to choose from and maybe add spicy chicken. Also, REAL potatoes instead of instant is a plus and YES there is a difference. At the end of the day, it is all about the customer. This place needs to learn that as well. We won’t be back.

Get in my belly! I’ve been here since they first opened and I still come here till this day. Pros: — fried chicken: it is consistently on point… crispy, crunchy, golden on the outside, steamy and juicy white meat in the inside. I’ve also had their chicken fried steak but it’s …okay. I’d rather spend all my money on their fried chicken meals. — I always take mine to go so that in the privacy of my home, I can pig out in my turkey pants with chicken and biscuit flakes all over my face. I find it hard to eat lady-like and act cute at the same time if I sat in at Babes. When it comes to eating fried chicken, i’m gonna tear it up. I’m sure that’s why the restaurant has the interior lighting as low as possible without being sued for visibility but that’s not gonna be enough for me. No bueno. — service at the to-go station is consistently nice and pleasant. There is one particular young lady who is very sweet and informative. I wished I had her name so I can give her a proper acknowledgement here. If you order to go, you may wanna check that you got all what your suppose to get. There were times they forgot to include my biscuits(how dare they). — the restaurant has a very odd décor but in a amusing way. For example, they have this weird and scary human-size rabbit suit behind a glass window when you’re on your way to the bathroom. — i love their biscuits. Nicely toasted golden biscuit and soft, flaky white goodness in the inside. Cons: — sides: your standard green beans, mashed potato with gravy, and corn with your delicious fried chicken meal. The sides are a little greasy and salty for my taste.

Well, I wanted everyone to LOVE this place. Out of town family visiting, so this seemed perfect. Sadly, I have to confess the service was embarrassingly slow. We had to flag down our waitress at least once during the evening, and the manager to order dessert. Secondly, I had big hopes for the chicken fried steak, but it failed to impress. The other meats were wonderful! Lastly, and this really worried me – why can’t we take home our family-style served biscuits, mashed potatoes, etc. PLEASETELLMEALLTHATFOODISNTRECYCLEDBACKOUTTOTABLESLATER! Sorry, but where is all that leftover food going, after kids have sneezed on it, put it on their plates then put it back, stuck dirty utensils in the beans, etc. I just think that’s a scary policy. And REALLY … I agree with an earlier commenter: I PAID $ 75 + $ 12 Tip for bad service and so-so chicken fried steak … I should have been allowed to take home some rolls and veggies! EIGHTY-SEVENDOLLAR’S, PEOPLE!

I must start this review with CHICKEN… Lol So I had the pleasure of eating their famous fried chicken. Ummm tasty. Not greasy… Just right. Service was great, friendly and full of recommendations for a first timer. Mom loves this place so I do too. The side dishes are all fav’s green beans, mash & gravy. If I had my way I would recommend Yams, and Greens to top off this southern style place. I brought a bottle of wine which they didn’t mind. Some places get skiddish on this but the manager didn’t. The waitress was attentive and always ready to please. My recommendation is to visit Babe’s bring your appetite too. Enjoy because you can’t go wrong.

I absolutely adore this place. Whenever I am on this side of town, i’ll grab one of my family members and head this way. A downside can be that it is in the vicinity of Jerry Jones land so it can definitely get crowded on game days. Everything(fried/baked/tendered chicken and catfish) I’ve tried here has been delicious. The only real thing that some health nuts may not like(other than all the entrees coming fried for the most part) is the salad. The salad doesn’t consist of any nutritious ingredients and it’s covered in a sweet SWEET vinegar mixture(not complaining, I eat everything on my plate). The scenery alone is worth bringing the kiddos or anyone that likes to make conversation before the food comes out.

Fantastic fried chicken and good service… BUT… After asking for«to-go» boxes for our leftovers, including the veggie sides, I was told«No.You can’t take home the sides… sorry» Pardon me??? «Why can’t I take the sides home?» «Because they’re unlimited sides, we can’t do to-go» «So you’re just going to throw that food away and waste it?» «Yeah…I’m sorry.» Unlimited or not — I’m friggin paying for the food on my table. I should be able to take it home if I want. First-world problems I know… but the PRINCIPLE! count me out on Babes

One word, delicious! Meal starts with salad. Already mixed with a house vinaigrette. Choice of cornbread or homemade biscuits, with butter and honey or syrup. Entre selection of fried chicken, chicken fried steak, fried fish. Unlimited sides of green beans, mashed potatoes w/gravy on the side, creamed corn. Not sure if dessert is an option, I was too full to wonder. :) ATTENTION: They will let you take home your entre but NOT your sides.

It has been many years since I’ve visited Babe’s Chicken when I lived in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. My wife has never been, nor my children, so we decided to go here for Saturday afternoon lunch. The entrance was a little difficult for us to find. It’s a quirky design but cool. Once you find the front entrance you walk down a dimly lit hall to the hostess area. We were sat right away at an oversized table with the Lazy Susan on it. If you’ve never been to Babe’s Chicken before then you might be wondering why there’s a Lazy Susan. So I’ll tell you. You have a choice of five meats to choose from. They are best known for their fried chicken and of course that’s what I’ll recommend to you. I ordered the fried chicken, Which comes with five pieces of chicken. My wife ordered the fried catfish which came with four pieces if I remember correctly. The boys ordered chicken strips(three pieces each). Everything else is served family style; you get green beans, corn, mash potatoes and gravy. All of the side items are as much as you want to eat. The meat is what you get, but trust me there is more than enough food for even the most hearty of eaters, especially with all you can eat side dishes. You can also take any of the meat home that you bought, but you can’t take any of the side dishes home. So when they bring all the side dishes out they placed them on the Lazy Susan which makes it very convenient to turn the Susan around the table instead of asking and having to reach across the table from dishes. Our waitress was very friendly and very helpful especially since it’s been years for me(and never for my wife) on what and how to order. She had what appeared to be a new waitress that was tagging along and actually did a lot of the legwork for us and she was also very good. While you’re waiting for your meal to come to you, you will get a salad that’s just lettuce and some kind of sweet dressing, and some very delicious fluffy biscuits. They also had several desserts to choose from, each sounding very delicious, but none that I could eat because we were so full. Another quirky thing was the bathroom. I asked a manager where it was located and he said I’ll walk you there. So the boys and I walked down the hall and all we could see was a red door at the end of the hall but, well I’ll just let you find out for yourself if you go. It’s cool and quirky. We will definitely go here again when we’re in this part of Texas.

This is a small down home country place. If you don’t like gravy… don’t come. It’s the best chicken fried steak in town hands down. All you can eat sides. The to-go BAGS can only be used for on the main course. Country food at a country price.

Holy cow this place is awesome! From the delicious food with unlimited vegetable refills to yummy chicken(had fried and smoked). The biscuits are beyond delicious and they have honey or syrup — I almost filled up on these things! The décor is really cool with hens and roosters all over the place. The staff are friendlier than most places.

Wait a minute! Why isn’t there a Babe’s in Houston? Cause I’ve been missing a little piece of heaven on earth. I was visiting my best friend and she suggested this place for an early dinner. When I walked in and saw the mismatched chairs and homey feel of the place, I knew I was in for a treat. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who informed me of how things worked since it was my first time. Order your own meat(fried chicken, fish, chicken fried steak I think, etc.) anyway I chose the smoked chicken and my friend got the fried. Sides were family style, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans. While we waited for our dinner she brought out the softest fluffiest hot biscuits, which I promptly slathered with butter and gobbled up. We also got a green salad, really just green nothing else in it, and dressed with a kind of sweet vinegarette, probably homemade. Then dinner came, YEAH! Delicious and flavorful chicken through and through and the sides were great. For dessert I had peach cobbler and my friend had the pineapple upside down cake, awesome. The only thing I would change is the way they send you home with leftovers. I mean there was half a chicken on my plate and I eat slow, so of course I wanted to take it home. So when the waitress comes back to the table with a clear plastic bag, you know the ones like you put fruit in at the grocery store, I sat there looking confused! Then my friend tells my that’s what they do there. It’s so you can take your entrée, not the sides. I guess it’s cause the sides are unlimited? But what am I supposed to eat my chicken with when I get home! Well I won’t dock you a star for that one cause I still ate my leftover chicken by itself later, lol, but I will make the proper preparations for next time… if you know what I mean.

‘Babes’ is a must for Southern folks or those just visiting town. I have tried everything here and highly recommend the Catfish, Chicken Fried Steak and Fried Chicken. Wash that all down with sweet tea, and top it off with a Coconut Meringue Pie. One complaint I have is the quality of the ribs… While they’re tender and have nice flavor, the overall«cook» distorts the texture, becoming slippery and mushy.
