The atmosphere was amazing, the music really sets the mood. The service was very friendly and attentive. The food was good, the portion sizes are larger than what you would expect. Definitely coming back to try the Sunday morning brunch!

What a great find. The catfish is very good and the shrimp pasta is excellent. We don’t get creole food like this back home; what a great fund. Try the jambalaya too!

Absolutely horrible experience! Management unprofessional and have NO idea what customer service is. I will NEVER go here again, also never attempt to with a party larger than 5 people because they can’t and won’t accommodate you in anyway

I don’t know where to start. My first visit here was pleasant, the food was good and I truly enjoyed it. However, the all you can eat brunch was just a bunch of random food that had no business being put together. Farina, corn bread dressing, eggs, over cooked bacon, pork chops with white gravy, dinner rolls, carrots, pasta with tomatoes, green beans… the bread pudding was delicious though. I will never do brunch here again.

This grade is so HARD being from New Orleans! 5 stars for service! 5 stars for atmosphere. 10 stars for the bread pudding but the food can be hit or miss. Gumbo and bisque very good but pricey. The dishes I haven’t had anything on the menu that makes me want to run back for seconds except for the catfish. Will I return? Yes. Will this be a spot I’ll go out of my way to come back too? no! The jury is still out but as a Unilocaler I would recommend visiting and make your own decision

Food was stale and overpriced, I love small business, but there are too many better choices to eat in this area

My husband and I could not wait for The Pelican House to open. I love Cajun and creole style food. We saw the open sign on, all though there were 0 cars in the parking lot. The own, a very friendly well poised gentleman made his way into the dining room from the back after several minutes of us standing in the empty restaurant. He seemed startled that we were there and unsure as to what he should do. He sat us, and brought us water, then asked us what we wanted… we did not have a menu. He DIDNOTHAVEANYMENU’s yet lol. So that’s ok, a funny story for the future, they had just opened. So op we played this game of what do you want? We can make you anything. Oh Lordy, I figured they would have Jambalaya and my husband ordered seafood gumbo. I received tomato rice? With a few pieces of summer sausage, and my husband received a cup of gumbo. But here’s the thing. That happened when they first opened. I drive Cedar Ridge multiple times a week. WHENARETHEEVEROPEN??? We are reasonable people and would be willing to try them again. I hope they read these posts and take them to heart, we have all given the owners the tools and keys that they need to turn this business into a flourishing business.

Great gumbo! I had the blackened catfish and was so well seasoned– great service as well. I’m surprised more folks don’t know about this hidden gem

We live down the street and didn’t even know of this place! Choices in the area are so limited it’s nice to know there is another option. Excellent service, great prices, good food. Will be back!

I am one that likes to visit New Orleans and enjoy the cuisine while there. It was a surprise to see this restaurant hidden from may freeways. I decided to give it a try since it was Fat Tuesday and a fitting choice for the day. I was in the mood for some crawfish étouffée but unfortunately they were out. I ended up ordering another choice which was a soupy version of the étouffée. Was kind of disappointed because the entrée was really salty. I ended up ending my meal with a beignet which is a typical dessert in New Orleans. When it was received, it was really good and a bit messy which is expected. Overall, the visit was okay but not what was expected. I would give this place another try just to try other entrees in hopes of a better experience. I will keep you updated once I visit again. Oh also expect to pay at least $ 12 to $ 15 per entrée and overall. This visit for two persons was at least $ 70.

The service was good… the food not so much. We had high hopes and enjoy eating at local businesses. The food was not seasoned. My shrimp scampi was just grilled shrimp. Unfortunately we will not be back. Don’t mind spending $ 70(2 adults 2 children) but it needs to taste good. Like a previous reviewer said, great concept but lacking in the execution.

For 18.00 dollars I expected more. I got just enough food and it was decent at best. The shrimp étouffée tasted like tomatoes and the Crawfish étouffée was bland and luke warm. Shrimp and the catfish were good. They do NOTHAVE a full bar, wine and beer. No I will not return. 2 stars for the food and 4 for the atmosphere and waitstaff. The waittress was nice and attentive. And, the chef came out and talked to me.

I went on a Friday a little after noon. The food was cooked perfectly, the catfish filets were cleaned right, the tea was great. The atmosphere was very relaxed. Prices are a little higher than most local places, but well worth it. We had the fried catfish, crab cakes, and blackened catfish and everything was done quite well especially the blackened catfish. Their beignets were amazing too, one order had four on it and they were warm and fresh and very satisfying. I plan to return and bring my brother and friends here.

I gave it 4 stars not for anything bad but restaurants really have to be out of this world for me we to rate them at a 5. I have never been to New Orleans but I have had creole and I have had Cajun seasoned food. This is definitely on the creole side. Portions were adequate. It was not crowded at all which was surprisingly interesting for a Friday night. Customer service was A+ and we were greeted and waited in within minutes. I had the Mardi Gras Trio which is 2 pieces of fish, red beans and rice and jambalaya. My hubby had the Bourbon Shrimp. He didn’t care for the bourbon flavor due to its sweet flavor but he ate it all up so it could not have been bad. We both agreed it’s worth adding to our list of places to revisit. I think everyone should try it out because it is worth it being in a quaint restaurant with a nice ambience.

It sucked. I’m from the boot and it was not a representation of the good food we eat. The service was slow and the place was almost empty at peak times on a Saturday. The food was fresh, I know because I was crunching on raw celery. The owners were nice enough. I’ll never go back.

Not fair, I know, because I live in New Orleans, but this establishment does not serve food that tastes like creole food should taste like. People obviously love it because the place was packed, and the prices are more than reasonable, but I would stay away if you know«New Orleans» food. But of course you would do that anyway — I was taken by a well-meaning family member during a reunion. I never go to «New Orleans-style» restaurants in other cities. I had the jambalaya, which was completely devoid of spices(even salt), some bread pudding that was kind of gross, and some cheesecake with the bread pudding sauce on it. It’s odd that the owners are from New Orleans. Sadly, they brought only concept, not the execution, with them.

We were happy to find a decent family-owned restaurant in our neighborhood. The family owns a few restaurants and originally from New Orleans. My husband ordered seafood bisque and jambalaya. He loved both. I ordered the catfish platter, which was awesome. The catfish was fresh and tasty, and lightly battered. We were told that their fish comes from New Orleans. the platter also came with thinly sliced fried potatoes, that were spicy and crispy. We both had bread pudding which was delicious! The entrees came with well buttered slices of french bread baguette, that were tasty and crispy on the outside. Will definitely come back.
