I eat here often, due to their hefty servings and very balanced price, my family and I can eat here 2 or 3 times per week with no problem. We get take out, so I’m not sure if the servings while sitting inside are different, but I would guess not by much from what I’ve seen. Everything that I have ever tried has been delicious, it’s hard to decide but we usually go with the Shahi paneer, Veggie Pakoras, Naan and Frontier chicken to make a nice meal with leftovers for 2 adults and 1 child. Their Chai tea is so good, especially on a cold day. The mango lassi is superb, it’s perfect anytime but even better on a hot summer day. Feeling very lucky to have this place and great people who run it here in town!!!

They have good food but I think they charge too much for delivery($ 5). I’ve tried the chicken Korma, chicken Handi(good but spicy!), butter chicken(really like this and one of their popular ones) and Karhai chicken(small portion of chicken compared to the rest but yummy). The other thing is it is really oily(there’s always a pool of oil) but if you can get past that, the food itself tastes good. Also the guy who answers the phone almost always sound either bored or irritated(like you called at the wrong time or something).

Very friendly service and Mirch Masala Grill knows how to bring the spice! We ate at Mirch Masala on a Monday evening before heading to the High School Football Championship game. We began with vegetable samosas, which were accompanied by a sweet chutney rather than a savory or slightly spicy version. I would rate the samosas as satisfactory because they lacked the breadth of spices and depth of flavor that I expected. They also seemed to be reheated rather than freshly prepared. The chutney was tasty, but I am partial to the more savory and spicy variations. Next, I ordered the Chicken Handi for my entrée. When I ordered the Chicken Handi, I asked the server to make it spicy and I got exactly what I ordered. My Chicken Handi was creamy, flavorful, and spicy! We ordered the cheese naan to accompany our entrees, which proved to be a great compliment to my Chicken Handi. This particular cheese naan was made with a creamy cheese that cooled the spice of my Chicken Handi. The naan also help me soak up every spicy, delicious drop. In sum, Mirch Masala offers solid Indian food, but it would not make my top five. Despite that slight critique, if I ever find myself in Cedar Falls again, I will certainly return to Mirch Masala Grill.

By far one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve been to. Great food, great service, very reasonable prices, convenient location. I’m just sad I’m not from here and won’t have access to the wonderfulness that is this restaurant — I envy you, people of cedar falls. Luckily I didn’t finish my generous portion of butter chicken and will get to have more for breakfast!

Stopped here for a late lunch. Wonderful food and service. Appetizers are great. Try the spring rolls and cream puffs. Even the rice is good.

I have been here technically twice. The first time was mediocre. Food was in fact very decent so I can see why ppl give 4 stars(5 stars are u kidding me?!), but service was like fXxxing slow consider we were the only people there at the time. The whole place smelt like gas, and still does this time. This round they have some sort of pump going on underground, so it shook the whole time we sat there. We went into the place, it wasn’t packed but we saw a lot of delivery going on as it was lunch time. After a while we got menu, no water or anything. As we read the menu for about 5 minutes, another couple ladies came in. After about 10 minutes, the ladies got greeted and food ordered, and the dude just left without realizing we were there, did as much visual contact as possible. We finally couldn’t waste our time no more inhaling the deadly gas, and had to leave. Never come back again.

Ok, now, these guys are absolutely awesome. Friendly, courteous and their food is STUNNING. Were driving from Chicago to Columbua Falls, MT and I found this restaurant on Unilocal.Decided to try it out on the way. Ended up arriving around 10 pm. Their kitchen is open till 10:30 so I had called ahead of time to see if they might accomodate us. They were cool about it. Upon arrival, we ordered a chicken dish and 2 vegetarian dishes along with 2 plates of samosas. Living in Chicago, we do have great Indian food but of course, as a person who has lived in India for a few years, I have always felt we in this country just«settle» for ok Indian food. Not here. The food here was just absolutely delicious. The chicken was not at all dry like you find at normal Indian restaurants. I had the chicken handi which was bursting with flavor. We also ordered malai kofta and palak paneer; both of which were awesome too. This place truly has flavors you would find in home cooked food. Can’t wait to get back here again someday.

The food is ok. I was just visiting my friend in Cedar Falls and decided to give this restaurant a try. Staffs are nice and the restaurant is clean. However, I have tried many Indian and Pakistani food in other regions and the food at Mirch Masala Grill is simply OK.

EXCELLENT! ! If you’re looking for authentic Indian try this place. I had chicken handi and it was very tender and full of rich flavors. We also tried samosa., garlic naan, malai kofta and alo baigan. All very good and highly recommend! We plan to be back to try their weekday noon buffet.

The food was ok especially considering location, though it It took this restaurant fifteen minutes of discussion between myself and the three staff to get them to accept the Unilocal voucher. They claimed first not to accept it, then offered me a free desert, then a free entrée($ 9), and finally the $ 15 I was due. Beware of the voucher.

Definitely the best Indian food I’ve had in the Cedar Valley, if not the best Indian food I’ve had in the States to date. Friendly staff, good service, traditional décor although not trying to being overly ethnic make this hidden gem a must visit if you’re in our around the Cedar Falls area and are craving some South Asian cuisine. Totally worth the 20 minute drive from Waterloo back and forth. The onion kulcha, Chicken biryani and Mango lassi are my absolute faves

Stopped here for the lunch buffet. The food has tremendous flavor. If you want lots of colorful spices popping at you and not too hot(spicy), this is your place. Very affordable $ 9.99 buffet 11−2pm. Would have given 5 stars but a couple things they can improve: 1) keep the warmers a little hotter as the food was warm and not hot, like it should be. 2) be careful of chicken bone fragments. You may chip a tooth if you’re not paying attention. I noticed this in a chicken rice dish they had and I came across several bone fragments. Definitely comes across as authentic, I’m sure. I would personally change that to limit a law suit if someone needs to get dental surgery. Overall, I recommend you try this place. Yum!

I was traveling to Dubuque after doing some mountain biking near Webster City and hoped to find some tasty ethnic cuisine in Cedar Falls rather than hit up any number of Subways along the interstate. Well Unilocal and Mirch Masala did not disappoint and I was pleasantly rewarded for my short detour. The spicy baby goat dish was cooked and seasoned extremely well. The rice served with it was good but really just something to soak up those goat juices. I also got a side of Naan which was also very good. Probably would have gotten the garlic Naan if it wasn’t a dollar more. Two things I think could improve the experience. 1) allow customers to substitute Naan for the rice at no extra charge 2) water from the fountain machine had an off putting flavor. Perhaps this is a Cedar Falls thing but all said and done the meal was around $ 15+tip so I’d expect better tasting water at no charge.

A favorite! On my first visit the awesome waiter recommended the malai kofta and it’s still my favorite.(I’ve ordered the same dish at Taste of India and didn’t like it at all). The garlic naan is so yum, the pakora and samosas are good and spicy. Not fancy, but pleasant and clean and really great service. The food comes fast and is inexpensive and delicious. I highly recommend! Also it’s one of only two to three places in the area that have a halal menu, my Muslim friends are faced with a very limited variety around here, but they definitely frequent this place. It’s been a tremendous addition to the area. Now we have great Indian and Pakistani food, I’m still hoping for a falafel house and a hookah bar. :)

I ate dinner last night here with 2 Indian vegetarians. We all found stuff we liked, and agreed that the food was good. The portions were large, and you can vary the spiciness of most dishes(low, medium, or high). It’s in a very nice spot by the UNI campus, I will likely be back next time I’m in town.

When I moved away from Cedar Falls I never imagined that there would be one, let alone multiple, Indian restaurants in the area a little over a decade later. Not only are there options, but there are some really good ones! Masala is a nice little spot. The service was a little underwhelming, but the food was fantastic and the prices were lower than I am used to. My meal consisted of vegetable samosa as an appetizer, naan, and Malai Kofta for my entrée. The samosa was crispy, flavorful, and HUGE. Very satisfying, but the best part was the chutney that came with them. The best I have had anywhere. The Malai Kofta was also some of the best I have had, and very different from how it has been prepared at most restaurants I have gone too. I ordered it «medium spicy» which ended up being pretty nice, but actually fairly mild for what I normally prepare myself for at most Indian restaurants. Here in Madison a lot of people order their food«wisconsin mild» because just saying mild ends up with something that is too much for them to handle! Anyway, the sauce was rich and packed with flavor and the koftas were ridiculously amazing. So much flavor, people! The Naan was delicious, but unfortunately it did not come out until I was almost finished with my meal. It was SUPER puffy, chewy, and buttery. Very good. Overall, this is a great spot and I will definitely go back next time I am in CF!

Well first, off we got a Free desert for checking in on Unilocal! Major points for that one. And I was buying my friend a b-day dinner before our NYE Show, our last meal of 2013 better make it good right, so we indulged on Veggie Samosa’s, rice, 2 dinner orders and he got Naan. First off the Samosa’s were incredible and come in orders of 3, so there were 6 on the table for two people don’t worry we cleaned our plates! My friend Chris ordered veggie Okra that looked amazing and he said it was, I had Chana Masala which was a little watery for my taste but I have had worse and the Samosa’s were so good I can’t really complain. The service was second to none, and the bathroom was super clean and did I mention I got to give my B-day buddy a free desert which was some sort of Cream of Wheat thing, but he loved it! So Success on great last meal of 2013 and it was all under 35 bucks with 25% tip. Not to shabby!

I am über envious that there is a Pakistani restaurant in Cedar Falls and none in the Twin Cities. Well I had the opportunity to try this place on my trip to this city and was glad that I did. My favorites at this place are the Chappli Kabab and the BBQ Roll with Seekh Kabab. Both were truly great. The staff at the restaurant was really kind to us when me and my family visited. We also drank the karak chai with Carrot Halwa at the end. Super delicious. They have a seating/décor problem and I encourage the owners to revamp it. A lot of space is taken by the serving counter and there are too many things that they are trying to sell. If the space was used more efficiently they could seat lot more people in this location. The bathrooms was very clean. The service was really good and the food was excellent. Definietly worth a try for sure
