In order to save costs they only employ one person to work both hotels they own and he works out of the other one. Going back and forth is a pain. I’m handicapped and they put me on the 3rd floor. No elevator. It’s not close from parking to any entrance. I initially came in the back entrance. When I went to dinner I used the exit closest to my room. Not knowing the only exit is from 2nd floor(?) I went all the way downstairs where you’re trapped in a courtyard where the pool is. If I hadn’t done this and heard a fire alarm I would be trapped outside the building with no way to escape other than re-entering the building and trying the other exit which might not be possible. I can’t believe a fire inspector would pass this without signage clearly giving instructions at each floor’s exit doors. I won’t be able to rate the free breakfast as it’s also in the other hotel to save costs. Not walking over there again. I will say the room is clean and nicely redecorated recently. I would not recommend this hotel for seniors or anyone with reduced mobilty as there is no elevator. Added information. I received nice call from manager and complete refund. Was told they do not usually put guests in this hotel due to ongoing renovation. The part about having only one staff to save money was what I was told by the clerk Cooper. The manager said I should have been booked into El Ray(the other hotel). Perhaps they should let booking agents like Expedia know. I am not the only review mentioning having to check in and breakfast at the other facility or the lack of elevator. I will again say the room was nice, clean, and very acceptable. I wasn’t really asking for or expecting a refund. Based on that and the fact that my room was exceptionally nice I’ve updated my review. I’m hoping that they will take my suggestion about exit signage constructively. They are renovating and based on the very nice call I received I am sure guest safety is a priority.

I’m going with 4 stars and here is why. 1. If you stay here, you should be content with a clean room(which we had), and the basic needs such as a shower, towels, pillows, etc. 2. You pick this type of hotel for the budget friendly price tag. If you want a fancy room with fancy amenities, don’t stay here and then complain how crappy it it. It’s not that bad, people! 3. They are renovating. That is a pain for them more than it was for us. Really, who cares if we had to walk up 20 steps. Yes, I said 20STEPS. Heaven forbid we do a tiny bit of exercise. Again, if you are traveling and you don’t plan of staying in town more that a night, you aren’t going to be hauling up a giant overstuffed resort suitcase with 15 outfits. We grabbed our carry on size bag, a duffle bag, and a large toiletry bag and easily carried it up the stairs. Now, if you are physically unable to walk the stairs, take note before booking and don’t stay here. It appears that all floors require some stairs(please correct me if I’m wrong). 4. This hotel was great for our quick stay. We stayed/slept for about 3.5 hours. I wouldn’t want to stay here for more than a night unless you don’t care about luxuries. I prefer resort style stays for extended but just because I’ve stayed at the JW Marriott doesn’t mean that I can’t respectfully see the value in the small little hotel that seems to be owned buy some nice people who are trying to improve upon our experiences.

This hotel can do better. There’s massive tourism nearby to entice customers. The property is right in the center of the city. But the owners haven’t seemed to make a concerted effort to compete with other shabby hotels next-door or down the street. Just keep the status quo. Gravel lot, no elevator, small breakfast room,

We have stayed here many times in the past 30 years under various names and owners, this is the last as it is now part of Best Western El Rey, the worst place to stay in Cedar City, UT. We were put on the 3 rd floor, no elevator, all that was available. Seriously? There were 6 cars in the parking lot! Doubt there was any foot traffic. Lesson learned. Sorry this place has fallen into ruin.

Expedia rated this place too high at 3 stars which set off our expectations, we were disappointed. Breakfast was served across the street but they only had boiled eggs, some pastries, waffles. No bacon or sausages like other best westerns(thats where bfast was). The room was nothing like the pictures, my sons feet were so dirty coz the carpet needed major deep cleaning and we did not dare use the coffee maker. Theres so much potential to this hotel, they need to further improve on little things like paint job, carpet cleaning and breakfast. Two things earned the 2 stars, its the price and the blond guy at the desk with a unique bible name. He was super friendly, explained what wS around, very professional & took his time with us.

says free wifi, but does not work. Front desk first said wifi is broke… they have no wifi… don’t come here if you depend on wifi. Any hotel without wifi is zero for our family.

Still 3 stars. Not much has changed. Still no elevator. Requested a ground floor room on the internet reservation and got the third floor. Someone is having a mighty chuckle at my expense. Would have knocked off a star but they have added a corn dog cart out next to the waffle truck and shaved ice stand. Being a recent convert to the joys of parking lot cuisine, I decided to call it even. The pool and hot tub were back in action, but a chill wind was blowing and it’s a long way up those stairs in a wet towel. On a side note, I forgot my pillows from home and requested a couple extra from the very sweet desk clerk. She got them, but had to check first because they have a shortage due to people stealing them. What? Who wants used motel pillows that were craptastic to begin with? When we got to the room, the mystery was solved: they have soap and shampoo dispensers in the shower and at the sink in lieu of those cute little bottles which are eminently packable. Folks must have their parting gifts. If not the toiletries, then the bed linens. It’s the principle of the thing, you know.

I booked a this room through expedia online 24 hours in advance for what I thought was I supposed to be a 3 star experience, but ended up being more of a 2 star motel experience. Let me start off with leeting you know in advance I am not a Hotel snob. I am a planner so when a place states they have certain accommodations I expect them. I must admit I made a small mistake HOWEVER, You are not the only game in town, and that does not give you permission to hike up your prices $ 20 dollars. Especially when your pool is out of commission and you jacuzzi is sitting drained and lonely. Not only were we greeted with a welcoming kitty liter aroma when we entered your hotel, but you kindly reminded us we could continue to look for a better hotel if we did not like your prices. The room didn’t even look anything like the picture and the building was run down! Well, Mr. I would like to inform you that we took your advise. Not only did we go just a few miles down to the Comfort Inn with more modern décor, pleasant aroma, and clean indoor pool and jacuzzi, but we also received a nice discount. Again, thank you for your recommendations in looking for a better Hotel! I am sure your management team appreciated that! OH by the way… Friday day shift guy you need to work on your sales skills, but your saturday night shift guy is a sweetheart!

Don’t stay here unless most of he hotels are full. Back in its day, it may have been a nice place… but it’s days are past. The pool was not in operation. The hotel rooms can only be accessed by going through the small front office area and then over a bridge that connects the front office building with the guest room building. If you have a lot of luggage, pray that you are given a room on the second floor… otherwise you will need to carry your luggage either up or down stairs.(Yes, this hotel has no elevators!) It is quite a dIstance from the parking lot to your room, so also hope the hotel’s one luggage carrier is available. The rooms were old and the breakfast wasn’t that great. The hotel does give you a choice of syrup with your cardboard waffle though. Won’t be staying here again!

Ah! I’m the first to write a review on this Hotel. And honestly, I was quite surprised by this hotel. Im used to stay in motels when I’m traveling in the States, but this actually was more a hotel, with breakfast included. Clean, really friendly staff, and an excellent service. For the price I paid here, its a definite recommendation, right on main street!
