What a waste of time. I wouldn’t know how the burgers taste because my order wasn’t started until the 43 minute mark. I had to leave so that I could get lunch and return to work. Too much attitude and nothing to back it up. It wasn’t busy, just slow. All they cook are hamburgers, one would think that they could be efficient. Boo.

What a fun little burger joint. Definitely worth the short ride over from Palm Springs. The employees are a hoot. The burgers are good and made fresh to order. The beer is cold. This is the type of dive lunch place that I love, full of character and characters. The walls are adorned with decades worth of memories and the staff is quick to tell you how not to eat your burger(hint: be careful where you put your ketchup, it is only for the fries). Will definitely return.

This is the most classic well made burger I’ve ever had done with fresh ingredients and cooked by the best for 40 years, the Man the Myth the Legend Ed. It is so Amazing with everything on it and grilled Onions(Oh and NO Ketchup here haha). Ed also makes his dads famous Chile best I’ve ever had and the fries are fresh to order hot and crispy! Then to wash it all down a cold refreshing Amberbock on tap or maybe 2 haha. Go check this place out for a slice of true Americana thats been around since 1969.

Definitely a «dive/whole in the wall» spot, good burgers & fries, cheap prices. The owner who also is the cook was friendly & it’s a bonus he’s a STEELERS fan. Definitely recomend & will go back.

For such a tiny place, the wait to get our food was way too long. Also took a long time just to get noticed when we sat down. Chesseburger was okay –nothing special. Chili has beans, which is a nice change, but again, nothing special. Fries were dark and looked overcooked, but were okay. Maybe just old oil. Seemed to be a lot of regulars, which is nice for the business to stay afloat. More bar than grill. Just beer.

Good burger. Unique taste. Cooked well and served in an appropriate itme frame. This place is called George’s world famous burgers and insults. George, I assume it’s George, is an asshole. Whether that’s good or bad, I can’t decide based on my single visit. It seems he’s either truly a dick or feels he needs to live up to expectations. Regardless, I’d go back; with cash next time. I went for lunch under $ 10.00 and they require a $ 10.00 credit card minimum. I offered to pay for someones beer, but they allowed my CC purchase istead, with George saying I had to bring cash or not come back. Old crabby bastard knows his burgers.

This place is a MUST for everyone who claim to be burgerlovers! Had read mixed review about the awesome burgers and about the verbal abuse and insults from the chef and owner when people for example wanted ketchup on the burger. Came in to try the burger as we where leaving Palm Desert for Arizona. Had the standard double cheese with grilled onions. It might have taken some time but they where friendly and the place has a nice vintage feel to it with tons of locals and i can see why. When the burger came out it looked decent but after biting in to it i almost cried of happiness. The freshly ground 100% chuck was melt in the mouth good and had a perfect char to it. This my friend was made by someone who loves burgers! The lettuce was fresh and the cheese perfectly melted down on the burger and oosed of goodness. What made this burger even more over the top crazy tasty was the grilled onions that i would say was charred almost to the point that it was burnt. It created a unique taste that i have never had in a burger before. The large beast was so good that i would insult anyone that asked for ketchup too if i was the master creator of this bad boy. Oh yeah and after i had my first burger i ordered another one and this time medium rare. It was even better then the first and i can say that through all the burgers ive had from chains like In n out, Shake Shack and 5 Guys to upscale burgers as the Hells Kitchen Burger at Gordon Ramsays Burgr, this was the best one!!! And what about the chef/owner Ed you ask? Is he a bad man? Does he eat children? The man seems genuinely nice and has a warmth too him that i cant see anything bad about him. The throwing mouth with patrons and locals are an act and it even says on the outside that the place is famous for burgers and insults since 1969. Do yourself a favor. Go. There. Now! You wont regret it. PS; I think someone earlier making a review(no namecalling R. B) should stick to 5 star upscale restaurants where the cleanliness is more important then the quality of the food)

Yesterday I dropped by to find out how late they were open and decided to go in for a burger; this place had been recommended to me by my neighbors in Palm Springs, who warned me that it was like a Brooklyn diner, where the owner snaps at everyone occasionally(there are signs that warn ‘insults’ as well as burgers). The hamburger was just okay(fro $ 6 the ones at Carls or the ones at Flemings between 5 – 7 are superior). When I used the bathroom to wash my hands before eating, I was reminded of a desert gas station bathroom; walls and surroundings were smudged and dirty; I used a paper towel to open the door to exit. Service was slow, because the owner/cook(?) was chatting with everyone and came out to visit one table; probably a 15 minute wait… I had to approach the bar later to pay my bill; when I looked to the left into the kitchen and watched the cook(George?) preparing food without gloves of any kind and the unclean environment I was sorry I had eaten there… BUT the worst part was when the waitress mentioned to the cook that she forgot something for a burger and he verbally berated her(«It’s too god damned late isn’t it!») I decided right then to write this Unilocal review… NOONE should treat a woman with that kind of disrespect, especially in public! Maybe other people find this place ‘charming’ and ‘homey’ but I not only told my neighbors who recommended this place what I had observed, but maybe a visit by county health inspectors is overdue!

I am having a hard time doing this, I’ve always felt that supporting the smaller local businesses is the right thing to do but when there it’s no reciprocal gratitude then I won’t go there and here’s my last experience, my daughter wanted a cheeseburger and fries and asked to go to a bigger establishment but I insisted on georges so we called and called to no avail — the line was busy for over 15 minutes so I said I’d go in and order take out while she sat in the car with her baby. I went in ordered and waited 40 minutes meanwhile not offered a glass of water.

We were waiting for some friends to arrive so we could drive into Coachella together. Stumbled upon this(small!) restaurant/bar and came in to get a bite/drink. $ 12 pitches of bud light. Good burgers and awesome chili cheese fries. No ketchup on your burgers! But you don’t need it.

Never had the chance to actually eat at the restaurant. Always had to order-out. Ordered from one of the wait staff, they were a bit rude but whatever. Have only had their cheeseburgers. The cheeseburgers and fries are good. At one point I thought they were«the best» in the desert. But during that time I was seeing the world thru ‘rose colored glasses’. Had a cheeseburger after the glasses affecting my view on everything — the burgers were OK. I would still go back & recommend.

Awesome burger, needs no alteration. You have to respect a place that does it’s thing, and doesn’t care what you think. Like it? Great. Hate it? Don’t care. Stick to your guns and do what you do best. Some say there’s an attitude here, I say it’s character. If you want it your way, go to one of those big corporate chains who shove over processes meat-like products down your throat. You want a Damn good burger? Then head to George’s. That’s all I gotta say about that.

The bartender has a terrible attitude every time we go there so we stopped going three 2 years ago. They also shrunk their meat patty. McDonald’s is better than that. And grilled onions? They charge you for them! They must be hurting for money.

Still the best — put your attitude on the shelf or be prepared to deal with the consequences. Fantastic burgers! Make sure to get the chili cheese fries too!

I have been to this place many times in the past and always enjoyed myself, they make a good buger. I went yesterday and it took the waitress about twenty min to even acknowledge me, after she took my order I sat for almost an hour before getting my food. Only to revive it cold… Blahh! When I told her it was cold she gave me attitude. I know they have a reputation for being that way but come on. This girl was obviously on something. Boo

If you are looking for a good-quality burger from a place that is an unapologetic hole-in-the-wall, George’s should be at(or at least near) the top of your list. I was by myself and sat at the bar(tip: if you’re by yourself and sit in a booth, you will most likely get yelled at). The bar has that old-school cushion along the edge, covered in dark red vinyl, which, while dated, does make for a more comfortable lean against the bar. I had a cheeseburger and fries, both of which were good. The fries were nice and crispy, just like I like them. They also serve a small bowl of dill pickle slices and chile peppers with your meal, which is definitely a plus in my book. The service is friendly — unless you do something the cook doesn’t like, i.e., sit in a booth by yourself, or put ketchup on your hamburger — but definitely unhurried. The biggest drawback for me is the pricing, which seems a bit high for the level of ambiance, but the place does fill up at lunchtime, so it comes down to a matter of supply and demand. When you have some time to kill and want a good meal, take George’s for a spin.
