Element Hair Studio

I was in the BEST mood following my 1^st experience over at Element Hair Studio. From the return phone call by Jackie setting up my appointment, to my hair appointment with her at her ADORABLE hair studio, I must honestly say, this was by far one of the best hair cuts, color and blow outs I have had in the longest time.
She made me feel like a million bucks and I left excited, knowing I found my new stylist! Thanks again, Jackie!

What we have here is a failure to communicate (or listen)
I travel all over the country as a Full-​time volunteer for our National Parks. As such, I am always seeking a competent stylist, unless it is May and I am at «home» in Northern Illinois for a visit and I can go to my «regular» girl.
Since I have a «regular girl» who gives me a fabulous haircut twice a year, when I go to someone new, I simply tell them to keep the same style, just «shorten it, clean it up». In this case (Jackie), I added, in response to her query, «take a half an inch to an inch off». And I also asked for the bangs to be shorter, when Jackie thought she was done.
I also advised Jackie that I had just washed my hair.
I should have realized Jackie either wasn’t a good listener or was just going to do what she wanted to anyway when she promptly shampoos my hair.
The «cut» (yes, I had asked for a «haircut» not a «trim») lasted about 10 minutes. Jackie took so little off, it made virtually no difference in my hair.
Now, there is a sign in the salon stating that «if you are not satisfied you can return for a re-​do within 7 days». Problem is, I so distrust Jackie now that I cannot bring myself to go back. I would be very nervous about what I would walk away with… you know, like asking for a steak to be cooked «well done» and it comes to you oozing blood, so you send it back. NOW it comes back to you «burned beyond recognition».
I was also not happy with the way she cut my bangs.
In short, I won’t be back.

I absolutely love Element Hair Studio and their staff especially the owner Jackie. They are always accommodating. Her knowledge in hair styling is elaborate, she knows exactly what can and can’t work according to your hair, face etc. Going to the salon is like going to a spa. I’ve never had a bad experience here and considering the fact that I’m very untrusting due to negative past experiences with my curly hair. If you’re looking for a new salon/​hair dresser, do yourself a favor and schedule an app with any of the friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Amazing experience! Beautiful salon, great staff, and very professional. Was given a towel to cover the area for exceptional comfort! Regular wax and also did the job like a pro.

What a cute shop!!! Very relaxing! Staff was very sweet. Alana cut my hair and did an AMAZING job!!! I feel great!!! You have to come and check this hair studio out! I would Deff recommend them!!! Jackie has been doing my hair for four years. I moved to San Diego and tried to find someone locally to do my hair. I tried four different stylists and NO ONE COMES CLOSE to Jackie’s skill set. She does an awesome job and my hair always looks great. I get compliments every time I walk out of her salon on color and style. One of the San Diego girls butched my hair and I came to Jackie to fix it. One hair cut and it is growing in the way it should. The others just made it worse.
She is super fast so I am in and out with no down time (this was helpful when I saw her twice a week for a blow dry). Speaking of blow dry, her technique gives my hair huge volume without over drying or frying it with a hot iron. And she is hilarious! We always have so much fun when I sit in her chair.
I bring my laptop on color days and connect to her wifi so I can work while I am waiting for the color to process. Her salon is cozy and as inviting as going to a best girlfriend’s house for a fun visit.
I have decided that Jackie is my only girl and I will drive four hours round trip just to have my hair styled by her. It is more than worth the time and gas to see her because I am telling you, there is no other.
