Just another L&L Hawaiian BBQ joint. This place is right off Highway 580 on Redwood Rd. You can definitely miss it if you drive too fast. It’s at a end of the parking lot. Smaller than normal restaurants that I’ve been too. I ordered the food to go, they had my food ready when I got there. Plenty of parking. By the way, I met the young lady at the cash register and she actually smiled at me. Maybe it must be my good looks or my million dollar smile. I’ve read some reviews where she is very unfriendly and rude.

Sometimes the quality of the beef is hit or miss but on the whole its a good place to get your fix for Hawaiian in Castro Valley.

I frequent this L&L for every mini-roast-pork-plate-easy-gravy-with-over-easy-egg craving I get. Which is about once a month. There’s this monotonous Asian girl up front who expertly takes your order like the soup nazi. I think she never makes a mistake. If she does then that’s your fault. Haha! 5 stars!

There are plenty of L&L locations around The Bay and this is probably the fifth one I have been too. Located right off the busy street of Redwood Rd and Castro Valley, easy and simple enough to call ahead for a to-go order. The parking lot is shared with several other businesses in that area, Kumon learning center and a Baskin Robins were open when I went in for my lunch break Wednesday night. Not too difficult to find parking, so that was nice. Nothing really stood out from this visit, nor did it turn me off from ever coming here again.

This location DOESNOTDISAPPOINT! Obviously Hawaiian food will cost you at least $ 10; but here, you get you’re money’s worth. They give you a FULLPLATE. They also seem to pay attention to detail. The young lady working the register will make sure your order is how you want it.(Some days I order half rice, half cabbage) and she corrects the mistake before giving you your food. Thank you for the full stomach L&L’s!

First time eating here it was pretty good. Staff not that friendly but as long as food is good I am ok with it.

Came from Sacramento and I wanted to stop by and get me some food here. Being pregnant, I wanted some L&L so I decided to order me a plate. Food was great. The service, not so much. The young lady at the cashier must’ve having a bad day because she kept staring at me and didn’t even smile.

We really enjoy their combination meat dish that has two different beef and chicken teriyaki. It’s tasty and generous amount as well.

Went there this evening tried to place an order to go very rude nobody there all she could say was what do you want, what do you want, what do you want, just trying to ask her a few questions on my order, I could understand if there was a line of people behind me but there was nobody she’s definitely needs a little training on customer service

Not much different from other L&L Hawaiian Barbecue. We got ribs, spam musubi, chicken barbecue musubi, loco moco, and some katsu. The portion of the food was very generous. The service could be better, but it’s just L&L, I guess.

To be honest, I have very mixed feelings about this place. I’ve been here about three times and I’ve had bad experiences and okay experiences. The customer service here is terrible. This younger lady comes to take your order and she’s very rude and has a bad attitude. She doesn’t say or greet you. She simply takes your order and doesn’t care to make you feel welcomed. It honestly makes me not want to come here. Also, she eats her meals at the counter which I found very unprofessional and unsanitary. The customer service is probably why I almost never see anyone sitting down inside to eat their food. Their food is okay. I like their loco moco, but how can you really mess up on rice, hamburger patties and eggs? Ill order it when I’m craving it which is why I still come here but only for to go. I’ve also ordered their Kalua pork here and it’s terrible. I guess it’s because I’ve had the authentic stuff so it made the one here taste so bad. It’s extremely extremely dry with no flavor. Also, I’m unsure why their pork here is about the same price as their loco moco? Anyways, their food is just okay. It’s L&L. It won’t resemble authentic Hawaiian food, but it’ll get the job done. Their customer service is terrible so just take your food to go because there’s just a bad and awkward feeling in this place.

Great and delicious food here. The service, though, needs improvement. The girl working the register never smiles(seems like she’s the only cashier). She really has an overall negative attitude — no smile, no friendly tone in her voice, very cold and dry demeanor. If it weren’t for this Hawaiian place being close to home, and the only place in town, I’d go somewhere else. In fact, sometimes when I’m up for driving to another Hawaiian place out of my way, I do because I know the service I’ll get there will be much better.

Went here about 2 weeks ago right before they closed and usually I don’t have an issue, but we ordered Katsu plate as well as the Hawaiian bbq combination and we noticed that the food didn’t seem as fresh as always. We didn’t get to eat it till maybe an hour later cuz we had to stop by the store, but it still should have been tasty to a certain degree. I was quite disappointed. I looked at the meat and it smelled and looked old. The katsu was ok but the chicken and short ribs didn’t look like it was cooked well enough or either that the food was old. Ugh, I was quite disgusted and wish I didn’t have to waste almost $ 40 on food that couldn’t be consumed due to I didn’t want to get sick. Maybe it’s better to come here when they’re not about to close, because usually their food is good. :-(

The food was great! It’s a bit smaller than the Hayward shop off of Hesperian, but they accept credit cards so it’s a win. It was clean, and a short wait. So this will be my L&L spot when my cravings hit.

Came here on a Saturday night on a high carb refeed day! I ordered the Chicken Katsu, the cashier seemed a little spaced out but did place my order correctly. I was the only person in the place and it did take about 10 minutes. On the plus side they did make it fresh and the portion sizes are always generous* :) Nothing at L&L that people should go out of their way for, but if you are in the area and want a more niche cuisine then this will suffice! 3.5 stars overall but have to round down due to lack of personality from cashier.

I really wanted to give it more just for the service, but the food was a little different than the other L&Ls… On the plus side, they do take credit cards, no hassle about cash only or ATM minimums like the other L&Ls. As I mentioned the person behind the counter was super sweet and explained everything well. The food came out quickly. Down side, ordered the spam masubi and there was something bland about it, which might explain why the lau lau was also on the boring side — there was something missing, like the fatty fish or fatty pork to help give the pork should some moisture. I really liked it being in Castro Valley, closer to home, so maybe I’ll give it one more try.

Have not visited an L&L in a long time, but since this one opened in CV we decided to try it. I really like that they have these bowls, that are inexpensive, fewer calories and not a ton of food. I got the teriyaki chicken bowl and it was tasty. My hubby got the loco mock(OMG) I have never had that before, now I understand why so many people love it, its comfort in a bowl. I actually have been craving it… might have to go back soon. I also like that they give you different size options with their food. The location itself is new and clean, the customer service wasn’t like super friendly but they were nice enough and I’ll be back!

Surprisingly not bad for price and value. I always got to Ohana and never to L&L and was turned off by how small their menu online was. But, when you get here you’ll see they have a much larger menu. Unfortunately I was ordering to go, so I got whatever was on their menu online and was not impressed by the lack of options. I ordered one order of the chicken katsu, kalua pork, and Hawaiian bbq beef. The chicken katsu was my personal favorite and the best value. I was shocked when I opened up the box to see how much food and meat there was. It made me very happy and definitely convinced me to come back. An entrée order is about $ 8, so it was totally worth it. The Kalua pork was also a heaping serving, but it was just ok for me. BBQ beef didn’t seem to have as much in the box, but the flavor was not bad either. I will say that the mac salad here seems to be better than the one at Ohana, or at least I liked it more than Ohana’s. I’ll probably be back because the portion and value made it a good share for our family brunch. Small restaurant and easy to miss, so look for the Kumon next door.

For some reason, I’m obsessed with their rock-hard breaded shrimp. WHY? New place but looks like they left parts of the old place as the floor trims were dirty. The lack of light from the window and inside the store make the store seem stuffy and uncomfortable to be in. Walls seem painted by the owners, unprofessionally. When I was there, this kid was getting mad at the cashier because he received the wrong order. She was going to simply get him a new one and apologized but he was gearing anger for no apparent reason, it seemed. I feel bad for this new location, the high school population will be their major source of income. May the odds be ever in their favor.
