Stopped in last night for drinks and fell in love with the place. A jazzy saxophone playing in the corner, dim lighting, classic drinks– stepping into this place feels like stepping into a different space and time. Wonderful crème brûlée and cocktails from great bartenders.

Yum! We are a Cajun-Carolina hybrid couple, and we really enjoyed our dinner of grilled pimento cheese sandwich(with fried green tomatoes!) and oyster po’ boy. Chicken and sausage gumbo was thicker than we make at home but very tasty. Red beans tasted like Mama’s.

The Big Easy is where I go when I have a craving for Cajun. Their jambalaya is plentiful, spicy, and served with warm, fresh corn bread. The dining room is spacious, clean, and usually has some sporting event playing. The location is convenient and their large parking lot means you can pull right up outside. The outdoor seating is great for happy hours… at least in the Spring and Autumn. The downside is that they don’t serve étouffée. I wish they did.

Girl’s Lunch Day was a success at The Big Easy, a new restaurant for us. The three of us enjoyed a Shrimp Po’Boy, a Chicken Po’Boy and Pulled Pork BBQ. I’ll definitely return with my Durham friends who used to live in New Orleans. Cheers!

I went to The Big Easy in Cary and tried their fried seafood platter. The platter consisted of fried shrimp, catfish, and oysters on top of house cut fries with slaw on the side. The seafood was all fried perfectly, and there was plenty of it for the reasonable price. The seafood overall wasn’t as fresh as the fried seafood at the Farmers Market in Raleigh, but I wasn’t disappointed by any means. The shrimp was a pretty good size and the fish was moist and flaky on the inside. The oysters were good as well, but you can taste a big difference compared to fresh oysters. I felt like I got a lot more shrimp compared to the fish and oysters, but it wasn’t a big deal, and shrimp might be more popular among the fried seafoods. I personally enjoy fried oysters and would have preferred more of them. I did enjoy the fresh cut fries; they taste so much better than frozen fries and were seasoned well. Overall, I enjoyed my meal at The Big Easy. It wasn’t the best seafood I’ve every had, but it was decent and for the price, you get a very large portion. I also had a Groupon, which made my meal even more reasonably priced. If you’re not looking to shell out $ 20+ on seafood, then Big Easy is a good option for seafood at a good price. I will have to come back another time to try some of their Louisiana style dishes.

She crab soup… the most flavorful crab bisque you’ve ever had in your life! Almost makes you forget about the delicious melt in your mouth muffin that comes with it. The 2013 Ferrari-Carano Fume Blanc goes great with it! Cheese fries were hand cut fries & delicious. A delightfully platter which had jambalaya, red beans & rice, gumbo plus fried shrimp was less than $ 16! Gumbo had a slightly burnt taste, I would try again in the future to see if this was how it always tastes. Our server was also the bartender, great service! Only real disappointment was the ladies room needs an update, looks old.

On fight night I was craving food. Unlike everyone else we were not watching the fight. I tried calling before hand to see if it was open. No one answered. Fortunately my friend lives in the area and confirmed they were open until 2. I got a shrimp platter with fries Pro: The shrimp was tasty. Fries seemed fresh cut. Tartar sauce was yummy Cons: Not a lot of food for 14 $. I get 3 times more At the farmers market for less. I had to add season salt to my fries as they were bland. They don’t answer the phones during business hours. If I crave seafood in the wee hours of the am I will definitely come back

I have been to both Big Easy’s, and this one is not my favorite. The food here is bland, perhaps they tone it down for the city it’s located in, but it is certainly not like what you’ll find in Louisiana. The one downtown seems to kick it up a bit more. The service is okay, and it seems clean. Seems more of a family restaurant than the one in Raleigh. The one thing I do like over the Raleigh location is that they have a great outdoor seating area(even though it adjoins a parking lot).

Came in for an early dinner and Justin our waiter did a great job of taking care of us. Although its definitely more bar then restaurant, we felt fine bringing our little guy in here early in the evening and they had high chairs so its definitely ok to do so. They have darts and all the classic bar games which makes it seem like this is a great place to hang out for some late night drinks. The food was good. I got the shrimp étouffée and my wife got a french dip. Both were tasty and will definitely bring me back to check out other stuff on their menu. Sweet Potato fries were a great side to get with a sandwich here too. Parking is a breeze since its in a strip mall.

Brought here by a Dealsaver, we had an overall decent experience, especially due to a Server we really liked. I’m mixed, however on the food itself. There’s a whole lot of oil going on, that’s for sure! Even if you attempt to be healthy(spinach) it’s fried, and pretty much green oil. This is spinach for folks who think they should do green but would rather be eating fries. It literally tastes like crackly oil. I also asked for the catfish on the seafood platter to be not fried and while flat-topped and not breaded, had an odd rubbery texture and didn’t seem quite done. My instinct was to get it home and zap the heck out of it, which I did the next day. Shrimp was very good. Oysters okay. Husband’s fried fish he doubted was actually catfish, but liked it just fine. Tartar sauce, okay but not particularly fresh-tasting.(jarred?) Cocktail sauce, okay. Hand-cut fries! While excellent, were sadly served UNDER the seafood, so became mushy and limp very fast. The few I had before they limped out were really great! Coleslaw was ordinary, yet had some black pepper added which was appreciated. Husband’s favorite part(and he would give it 5 stars) was the red beans and rice that he requested instead of the slaw. Made him want to go back and try more cajun items.

Full disclosure, we heard about this through a Groupon offer. We’re glad we did. Unless, you know where you’re going this place is truly hard to find. Here’s a quick run down: Pros: a) Fantastic Chicken and Sausage Gumbo. b) A way for almost anyone to enjoy spinach. «Fried», but not breaded. c) A great grilled shrimp Appetizer with a Creole Aioli. d) Great variety well beyond Cajun; «NOLA» food. e) Friendly efficient service. Eager to please(even when sharing a dish). f) Pleasant and appropriate music being played. Cons: a) The restroom has a tricky handsink area. I was literally hit by the entrance door while trying to dry my hands. b) Without a GPS, the location can be hard to find.(Then again, I’m a bit directionally challenged). It’s ok to laugh. We were able to see many of the plates coming out of the kitchen. Nothing looked skimpy on the portions.

I wish I could give this place a higher review. The service was quick and great, but the atmosphere and food were just mediocre. The space is terrible. The dining area is VERY small, so we ended up sitting at a high top in the bar area. As one other reviewer mentioned, there’s no privacy. Everyone is kind of on top of each other. For an appetizer we ordered the gator bites. They were good but just tasted like fried chicken/fish scraps. Granted, I’ve never had gator before, but they were definitely not worth the $ 9. I went with the cobb salad, which was good.(It’s hard to mess up a cobb salad.) My fiancé had the Southern Surf and Turf, which was an off-menu special — a pork chop and salmon cakes served over green beans and onions and a pool of pimento cheese.(Btw, if you like pimento cheese, this is the place for you. It’s on everything.) He really liked it. There was a live band setting up when we first got there. We were excited to hear them, but they literally were just setting up the entire hour or so we were in the restaurant. When we left, they were *still* getting ready. The prices are lower than many other restaurants in the area, but the atmosphere/space leaves a lot to be desired. Decent food and good service, though.

Let’s be honest, there aren’t many Cajun/creole places in the triangle. Sad but true. After trying a legit Cajun/creole place in Atlanta, I wasn’t sure I could ever find a creole place my taste buds would accept around here. The big easy was the«easy» solution to my concern! We came for lunch and our server came to us immediately to ask if we needed anything. We ordered gator bites, a bowl of jambalaya, and a side of hand cut fries. Side note: they do not have a separate lunch menu. Anyhow, the gator bites had a nice crispy coating with really juicy meat hiding inside, mmm mmm mmmm~ The jambalaya comes with two jalapeño(?) muffins. The muffins were moist yet crumbly! The jambalaya was slightly too watery but it had great flavor(and some spice)! I really think it could feed up to 3 people, no joke haha. They didn’t skimp on the meat either! Hooray for generosity! The hand cut fries came out piping hot and were so gooood! I eat a lot of fries. I get fries at almost every restaurant I go to(if they have it). So believe it when I say this place has one of the top hand cut fries around! They have a nice outdoor seating area which would be great to take advantage of once the weather gets warmer! Ambience is very casual and comfortable. Service was pretty good as well. Definitely will come back to try more off their menu!

While this restaurant was by no means exceptional, it got the job done at a reasonable price. I went during lunch on a weekday and there were no more than 10 other customers, so to me it was lacking in atmosphere. But this meant that we were waited on promptly and our food came out quickly. I ordered the oyster and shrimp po’boy. When the food came out, I didn’t think I was going to be able to eat it all because it was gigantic. But as I ate the po’boy, I discovered that I was eating mostly bread so it was the perfect size. However, I wish there was a little less bread and a little more seafood. The seafood was fresh and very good and the tartar sauce added a great flavor. The sweet potato fries that I ordered were piping fresh out of the fryer and some of the best I’ve ever had. This is not a place that I would probably CRAVE in the future, but I would come back to try some of their many other New Orleans inspired food. The gator bites do sound tempting.

Kind of sad this place didn’t work out for me. The menu looked so good! But… it just ended as meh. I was craving pimento cheese, so I decided to go for a burger with pimento cheese and jalapenos with a side of sweet potato fries. The burger was a relatively decent size, but it wasn’t worth the cost in my opinion. But what really threw me off was the bun. It was so dry! It almost tasted stale to me. Secondly, the sweet potato fries were so soggy, it made me sad. I also got a cup of She Crab soup and between the taste and the amount, I just gave up on this place. The overall quality was just a downer. I won’t be coming back.

I live at stone’s throw distance from here perfect for me and my husband as we don’t have to argue on who’s going to drive back home as we can Walk here ;) The best part about this place is the staff we have been served by has been really helpful coming up with suggestions on cocktails and food. If something can be tweaked and made as per our liking. Its a big plus for us. Jumbalayas, wings and burgers are amazing. The only downer is the place can be too loud and crowded.

Upon suggestion of my friend to have a girl’s night, we decided to try out The Big Easy. I didn’t realize there was one in Cary. This one has a much different vibe from the one in Cary. For one, it’s clean, and the menu is far more extensive than the po’ boys and fried dishes of it’s sibling in Raleigh. I was surprised it was completely dead on a Saturday night and I mean like… how will they survive like this dead. She said she had been before and it was packed. I think some live music would have helped. Their menu offered a good selection and I picked a seafood combo and learned I could get it broiled and not fried. It was prepared perfectly and was heaping with food. Everything was delicious and a definite value. I can’t remember the price, but I remember thinking this is really reasonable and a lot of food. Also, they have outdoor seating and you can bring your dog. Who can ask for anything more really?
