My first encounter with Big Mike’s store front located on 1222NW Maynard Road, Cary, NC beside Great Harvest Bread. At Brew n Que storefront I ordered One Pound Chicken, Pork, and Beef with collards, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, and a jar of Pickled Okra as a take out order. Received a loyalty card with frequent customer meals and a takeout menu. I Should have Carefully checked the Bag for order accuracy. Got shorted in my order on all three meats and no printed receipt was put in my bag. Called the store back and spoke to Big Mike about the problem. He personally corrected the order and delivered it to my home. That is extremely excellent service. Food is delicious. I will definitely be back. Thanks Big Mike!

This place is fantastic. The wings are outstanding, really nothing like them around. The menu has some unique items, all worth trying. The pork and chicken are fantastic and the potato salad is one-of-a-kind! Great staff, very friendly!

This review was based on my first visit. This restaurant isn’t convenient to where I live and my husband and I drove pretty far out of our way to have dinner here, based on their reputation. Unfortunately, when we arrived at dinner time, the restaurant was completely out of pork and brisket, which was quite disappointing and meant that our dinner consisted primarily of side dishes and not the main(meat) attraction that we were hoping for. I appreciated their Unilocal Check-in offer. I’d like to return, but I’m a bit afraid of a repeat.

We ordered from the Brick and Mortar store at the same address. I ordered a catering pack for 6 and got the Pulled Pork, chicken, roasted potato salad, baked beans and classic coleslaw. Let me start out by saying that the pulled pork was amazing. Very good and great to eat by itself or put on a sandwich with some of the slaw. The slaw was very good as well, a little peppery which I really like. The chicken was much better than I expected and I am not a BBQ chicken person but smoke it was really good. Now the surprise of the menu was the roasted potato salad. I do not like traditional potato salad, but this is not that. it is roasted potatoes with some sort of sauce on it but it is not mayo based(or at least it did not seem that way to me or anyone in my family). Also the sauces come on the side and are avaialbe for purchase. I like a mustard based sauce and Big Mikes is really good. We tried to the other sauces and all were very good. You don’t need them though. The only negative thing is that beans were a little under cooked. The flavor was good but they might need to be cooked a little longer as they were hard. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Visited their relatively new brick and mortar place. Very good pork bbq and excellent wings. The wings are smoked and then grilled, and covered with a salty/sweet rub. Potato«salad» was also excellent although it was very non-traditional. Sampled all 3 slaws and they were OK. Baked beans were yummy and very sweet. Good mac n’cheese. Chicken was just OK and they were sadly out of brisket. And it’s also a bottle shop so there’s an excellent beer selection. Service is, um, evolving as they figure out how to run a restaurant in addition to a food truck. Very few tables and they seemed to get overwhelmed. It might be OK to shout«Stop taking orders» in a food truck. That’s less appropriate in a restaurant. Another good option could be to call ahead for a takeout order and fill some six packs to take home while they sort out the service.

The food here is really good. We had the smoked chicken wings as an appetizer, they were extremely tasty! My wife had the«big cheesy» which is a grilled cheese sandwich with bbq pork and pimento cheese. It’s a huge sandwich but it was so good, she ate it all. I had the brisket basket. The brisket was very good, but I was most impressed with the sides. The baked beans were outstanding and the smoked potato salad was super!!! Two minor complaints, not much for kids here and they only have three tables and a bar, so they aren’t much of a restaurant. I will definitely be back, might do take out next time because the food here is legit!

Stopped by right at open to check it out and picked up a mac and cheese to go. I wish I had more time to sit and have a beer. Looks like a great local beer selection. The mac and cheese was amazing. Not too cheesy and had a smoky flavor that is very unique. Can’t wait to come back, relax, enjoy a full meal with beer and write a more informed review.

Yum! Great chopped chicken breast and the roast pork was terrific too! BBQ beans were sweet with a relatively thick sauce. Mac and cheese had a mild cheese flavor with ground pepper-The kids loved it. The sauces were NC vinegar, a think sweet and tangy, and my favorite, a buffalo– inspired hot sauce. There was a huge selection of bottled beers and several on tap. Kids and adults alike in our group were very happy with their meals. I just wish they had green beans!

I ate here(the restaurant, not the food truck) for a firm-sponsored lunch and was very pleasantly surprised. The first thing I immediately noticed upon entry is the wall of eclectic ales and craft beers — stuff I never would have expected in a barbecue restaurant. We began with the«Redneck Nachos» which were cole slaw and baked beans over Fritos. Not normally foods I would combine in a small cup, but somehow it worked. The barbecue plate was terrific — had the chicken with the sweet barbecue sauce,(more) cole slaw, mac ‘n’ cheese, and greens which I really liked. Biggest surprise I’d say was the banana pudding. I’m accustomed to banana pudding being served in a huge tray with a spoon. Instead, we were treated to small cups. I could definitely tell the difference, especially with the cream which was super fresh. Definitely a cut above the average barbecue restaurant. Highly recommended.

I was turned on to this place, now known as Mike’s Brew-n-Cue, or Big Mike’s BBQ, by friends of mine. Sweet Baby Jesus!!! I’ve been there twice now, had the brisket, blue cheese coleslaw, and mac-n-cheese… the gf had the pulled pork, potato salad, and brunswick stew… and finished it with an incredible banana pudding. With REAL bananas! I say again, SWEETBABYJESUS!!! It’s like my taste buds died and went to a bbq party in heaven! This place is DEFINITELY in my top 5 local joints! Mike, you will be seeing lots of me!

Big Mikes BBQ’s restaraunt is so good! I got the big cheesy sandwich which is a double grilled pimento cheese Sandwhich stuffed with your choice of BBQ, sweet pickles and BBQ sauce. The sweetness of the pickles tasted so good with the juicy brisket and Mac and cheese. For dessert I had the banana pudding and it was one of the most awsomest banana puddings I ever had. The people here are very friendly and next time me and my family eat out we are definitely going here.

We waited forever for This place to open after following the food truck across town! Worth the wait! The food was delicious! The bar, beer selection, vibe was great! The sauce is foodie crack! I’m GF and there are plenty of Gluten Free options. Prices are reasonable… VERY reasonable! We will be back!

I have had the pleasure of trying everything on the menu and there is no way to be disappointed! My husband and myself have enjoyed not only the food but the service. We even had them cater our wedding which was a complete success. Everyone loved the food!!! Michael is such a great guy and amazing to work with! If you have never eaten here before then you should because you are missing out. I do not eat BBQ anywhere else.

Picked up 2 lbs of chopped BBQ from their truck this afternoon at Bombshell Brewery. Had planned on picking up some potato salad, brisket, Mac n’ cheese, and collards but at 6:30 they were sold out of everything but chopped pork. I’ve had a lot of good pig in my life, but unfortunately, this was not some of it. I can only assume that they were almost sold out of the chopped BBQ as we’ll and that the 2 pounds of fatty, tough pork was the bottom of the barrel that should have been tossed. Their sauces, on the other hand, were great. We had heard really good things about this food truck and made a special trip to Bombshell to finally try it. Perhaps we’ll show up a couple of hours earlier next time and give them another try. Update… Mike followed up with me after reading my review. He was quite apologetic about my experience and insisted on making it better. A few weeks later, we managed to catch up with his truck on Halloween at Bombshell Brewery and were given free chopped bbq and brisket. Both were great! His truck is supposed to be back at Bombshell next week — I’ll do me best to get there early for some really good bbq.

Curious but Big Mike’s BBQ has made the move from food truck to bricks and mortar! What makes it all interesting is they’re doing a partnership with the View Bar, setting up the menu and food service for the place. I used to hit up their truck from time to time in Cary but wanted to see how they would fare in a real kitchen and restaurant. With prices a bit higher across the board, that means my expectations were a bit higher too. I stopped in on a snowy night with Kuanyu C to check out their new home. Inside, the View Bar is the same but now they’re sporting a short menu of brisket, smoked turkey and more. I order up a brisket sandwich and smoked wings to try a couple of meats out. The sandwich is a large helping of smoked brisket slices on a pretzel bun, $ 9 with no side but still quite good. With a squirt of BBQ sauce it’s a satisfying and tasty sandwich. Overall, Big Mike’s is off to a solid start and will need to get back after a month or two to see how they evolve. With a full kitchen I’m hoping they will up their game and figure out how to deliver some upgraded eats and meats.

Big Mike’s is one of the few food trucks that comes near my workplace every now and then. I wish more would come into Wake County! Luckily, I was able to get away from work before they called it a day. You can find out where they’ll be on their website – they have a Google calendar widget, so it’s easy! I kind of like it better than following someone on twitter(but that’s probably more of a personal thing). Since it was my first time going there, I asked Mike if I could get a tray that had a little bit of everything they offered, so I could get a taste of it all. He most graciously obliged and I went back to my office with a nice heavy tray of goods. I have to say that my favorite was the pork and the blue cheese cole slaw. Delicious! Also, they have a «stupid hot» sauce, and if you know me at all, you know I’m pretty stupid about my hot sauce =P It was great. Of course, I had leftovers, so my husband was able to try out Big Mike’s goods as well and loved his beans and all the bbq with the sweet and tangy sauce. If you get a chance, chase down this truck and try out some local wares! You won’t be disappointed!

Nothing but good to say about the BBQ Barn! I couldn’t sample the full complement of what he smokes since we were sampling a number of trucks at Fullsteam, but from what I tasted he has got a good thing going and I would definitely consider him for catering! I had the brisket, which everyone at the table agreed was outstanding. The traditional sauce he serves is a little on the thin&sweet side for me, but it didn’t really matter because the brisket is so good you can eat it with no condiment. But the star of his show(and the way you truly get to sample what he can do) is the Redneck Nachos. I figured that was what everyone was referring to when they talked about corn chips topped with smoked meat, topped with baked beans, topped with oh-my-good-god blue cheese slaw. In the words of Mater, «Holy SHOOT!» I will definitely be trying my best to recreate these at home some time in the near future. Pure, delicious enjoyment. They were so good I didn’t even stop to feel guilty for what I was doing to my body. I just ate them.

This was the 2nd food truck to pull up at Fullsteam Brewery. I’m more of a Tennessee or Texas BBQ person, so I wasn’t sure what to think about this NC food truck. But then again, I’d had a few pints, and someone put a to-go container in front of me, saying«Try this!». It was amazing. A pile of corn chips, covered in baked beans, covered in blue cheese slaw. Wow. Sloppy goodness. We also had a plate featuring brisket, beans, and mac-and-cheese. It was good, but nothing as memorable as the chips-beans-slaw combo.
