I used to come here every day last year and the prices were great. This is my first time coming back this year and the prices have raised by a lot. Even though everything is good the prices are too much.

Found in a really random strip mall in Carson, this little shop has it all — ice cream, dole whip, shaved ice and other dessert items that deal with those items. The menu is a bit overwhelming but that just means you have plenty of options and you have to go back again and again just to try everything once. We ordered to go since we had some hot pupusas in the car from a shop a few doors down. I have a review for that place too. Back to the desserts. The boyfriend ordered POG shaved ice, regular size. It was a good size and it was good. He really liked it. I had the Lappert’s ice cream: Hana Road(like rocky road) and Kahlua truffle. It was very decadent. The coffee ice cream was legit coffee ice cream — and not bitter. The dole whip was good, per the parental units. Can’t go wrong with that. All 3 cost a little over $ 14. The place was fun. There are a lot of seating inside. There’s a mural you can take a picture in front of, lots of things on the wall. The staff was friendly and the space was clean. We’ll definitely go back again.

This is the one stop shop for Lappert’s Ice Creams, Hawaiian shaved ice, shaved snow, and Dole Whip(pineapple-flavored frozen yogurt-like dessert). Tastyblock sells the Pineapple Dole Whip(you know the one you find at Disneyland or Hawaii) and one of my coworkers mentioned that Tastyblock sells the legit Dole Whip and not one of those fake one you find at some other places. Most ice creams flavors are somewhat generic — green tea, lychee, pistachio, vanilla bean, pumpkin pie, balsamic strawberry, taro, cookie cream, loco coco(Jamaican rum and toasted coconut), chocolate peanut butter, caramel coco macadamia, and macapuno. Don’t know what to get for shaved ice or shaved snow? The menu lists out some of pre-customized shaved ice & snow combinations. Friendly service and Tastyblock also participates the FiveStars program. *** Lappert’s Ice Cream(Taro and butter pecan, $ 3.25 for one adult scoop, split): I could slightly taste some of ice crystals, but overall both flavors were generally on the spot. Pineapple Dole Whip($ 2.69, regular): Pretty good AND you don’t need to wait in line to enjoy this delicious dessert, but I am still not a fan of soft serve. *** I wouldn’t go out of the way to visit Tastyblock, but it is still a great place for anyone who’s looking for a quick bite on icy desserts. On a random side note, don’t be too surprised if someone suddenly appears and asks you for changes the moment you step out of the shop because it happened to me one out of my two visits.

I’m so ecstatic that I a) found a dessert place in my neighborhood and b) found a place with legit Dole whip!!! I have yet to try everything there, because there really are so many options! You can do traditional Hawaiian shave ice, shaved show, Dole whip, or Lappert’s ice cream. They have different specials that combine some of these elements together. I have tried the taro halo, which is their shave snow version of the halo halo. It was way too sweet and cloying for me. I missed the shaved ice part of it that can counter the sweetness of the condensed milk and everything. I definitely want to try their regular halo halo sometime, because I think it will be a lot better. The Dole whip is SOGOOD. It’s like Disneyland without the drive(or the passes LOL). As a former Disneyland passholder, this place provides me with the Dole whip I need in my life. I love the different ice cream flavors. They are very Hawaiian/Islandy. The Hana Road is their version of rocky road, named after the long and winding drive in Maui. My fiancé LOVES it. Their Filipino guava sorbet is also amazing… I think I want to get that next time I go… maybe this week Lol. All in all, I will be back whenever I can cheat :3

Saw the awesome reviews on Unilocal and decided to give this place a try since it was so close to my home. The first think I appreciated was the warm welcome I received when I walked through the door. That is something that is important to me when visiting a place. I like to feel welcomed as a customer. I also explained to the kind young ladies that is was my first time there and they were happy to help me sample some different flavors. I ended up going with the Taro ice cream in the waffle cup! Really good! I will definitely be back! :)

Best shaved ice/snow/whip/float/ice cream, on the block, at beautiful prices! When you walk in, you get a bit of the family-friendly establishment x islandy vibes. You can take cute cheesy pics with their big mural as you’re waiting for your dessert. The first thing I tried was the dole whip(since I don’t tend to go to Disneyland often… or ever). It was gr8. Have to try the dole whip float next time. My brother is extremely picky and he liked it. A small was $ 2.69. The second time we visited, my brother decided he wanted to try something else because he liked the dole whip. He got a regular half vanilla half watermelon shaved ice topped w/condensed milk. A REGULARWASPRETTYHUGE, IMO, you can share between 2 people. The ice was soft, melt immediately in your mouth goodness. Totally not that hard, crunchy sadness. I’ll eat a cup of ice chips like the ones you eat during labor if I wanted shaved ice with that texture. I got a small taro shaved snow with azuki beans on top. It was perf(fluffy/creamy). Will def come back to try other flavors. My brother’s regular shaved ice was $ 3.50 and my small shaved snow was $ 3.99. Total: $ 7.49 I think I will start a rewards card since this place is close by and there are so many things to enjoy. :)

Little dessert to end the night, trying to compare mainland food to the islands you would think is impossible. Well this is a hidden treasure that we stumbled upon on Unilocal. The desserts here are on point and the different creations have left me speechless. May not be spot on to the Islands but this place is pretty close. A little halo halo and the delicious signature pineapple ice cream was such an eye popping treasure that was thoroughly enjoyed by my fam. From the fruit bits in the halo halo to the taro topping I was very amazed by the presentation and delivery of this traditional Filipino dessert. Much of the desserts contained its own flare and kick. Definite secret treasure for a hole in the wall spot in Carson, Ca.

−−15÷100 reviews for 2016– Thanks to this place I don’t have to fly to Hawai’i or drive all the Disneyland just to have my Dole Whip fix! What I also LOVE about this place is their islandy ambiance, their location, and their intensely delicious menu! My bad, I failed to mention that they have Lappert’s Ice Cream! So muuuuch yum. They have: Hawaii Sea Salt Caramel, Macadamia Nut, Guava Cheesecake, Lychee, Loco Coco, Guava Sorbet, Kauai Pie, Vanilla Bean, Mango Manila, & more! My personal faves are the guava cheesecake and Hawaii Sea Salt Caramel. They also have tastyblock shave ice, Dole Soft Serve/Whip Floats, & shaved snow. The flavors they offer are all amazing. My ULTIMATE favorite is their«Green Bean» WITH pieces of Oreos. It is basically green tea shaved snow with red beans, mochi balls, condensed milk, and Oreos! You MUST try it :) OH! & for the dairy-free/lactose intolerant prince & princesses out there like me, do NOT worry. They have plenty of options without dairy for your pleasure. Just ask :) Tip: Their prices are very reasonable. Sign up for the FiveStars Loyalty Rewards program. They send you awesome deals like BOGO Dole Whip!(You didn’t hear it from me ;P)

Want a taste of Hawaii without the expense of the airfare!!! I think I was trying to beat the door down. I got there just a few minutes before noon. Forgot to check what time they opened and the guy was locking the door and heading over to 7-Eleven. I waited. He arrived back in no time and left the door unlocked behind him. I hung around outside until it was safely past noon. There’s plenty of parking here for all the shops. This place is in the left corner of all the shops. It is a fairly good sized area with probably limited seats & tables. With the mural and surfboards, you could easily forget that you are in Carson! They offer Shave Ice, Shaved Snow, Dole Whips, and Lappert’s Ice Cream as well as coffee. I decided on having a Shaved Snow while I sat there. It was really delicious and I ate every bite of a small size all by myself. It has Mango Shaved Snow topped with mango chunks & mochi balls and is drizzled with caramel sauce & condensed milk. If I were to get this again, I would remove the caramel sauce and add the Mallo Crème or White Chocolate. I tasted the Macapuno, Taro, Lychee, Guava Cheesecake, Macadamia Nut & Manila Mango. All the flavors were really good! I didn’t taste the Hawaii Sea Salt Caramel or the Chocolate, but did get some to go. I was disappointed that they were out of Kauai Pie today, but that means I have to come back and try it! I ended up taking home 4 Adult single scoop cups with two different ice cream. I hope the children love what I chose! TIP: If you have the FiveStars Rewards app, you can add this business and begin your way to earning a free reward! I do intend on paying them a visit again and hopefully they will have that Kauai Pie! I also want to try a Shave Ice as well. So many options! Here’s the link to their online menu:

Omg! Taste sensations I’ve never had before! I was having major ice cream cravings last night and I fought hard to resist it. So today, I deserved GOOD ice cream. We tried a bunch of flavors and settled on 4– lychee, mango, macadamia nut, kauai pie– all half scoop each. It was delicious! Definitely satisfied my cravings. I never had macadamia nut ice cream before and I was pleasantly surprised by the creamy texture of it. My moon my man really enjoyed the mango flavor. It had swirls of real mango? Not sure whether it was real or not but it was bomb!

Kauai Pie: coffee ice cream with coconut, macadamia nuts and chocolate fudge. A slightly bitter aftertaste on the coffee ice cream, big pieces of macadamia nuts and toasted coconut flakes throughout. 2.5 stars. Guava cheesecake: guava ice cream had the texture of sorbet and the cheesecake ice cream tastes like plain vanilla and was a little too frozen. 2 stars Dole whip float: dole whip with pineapple juice. 4 stars. Will go back for the Dole whip since this is closer than King’s Hawaiian but likely will skip the ice creams.

Who needs dinner when you can have shaved ice for dessert? The Green Bean is sweet without being too sweet, and I love the red beans –they’re a throwback to my childhood. Condensed milk makes everything taste better. The Chocolate Strawberry Delight is milk-on-milk, with just the right touch of chocolate. The Mango Heaven channels all things tropical, and no matter how cold it is outside, it’ll still remind you of white sand beaches. I’ve had okay shaved snow, I’ve had good shaved snow, but I didn’t know what really good was until I got to Tasty block!

Located in the same shopping complex as a Samoan Church this is one of the most authentic shaved ice spots in SoCal. The presence of Dole Whip and Lapperts ice cream ups the OMGeee factor. Try the shaved ice and ice cream combo and don’t pass up on that Li Hing Powder. The sour plum sprinkles that comprise the LI Hing powder makes this yummy treat extra authentically Hawaiian.

I am a huge fan of a light and refreshing Lappert’s ice cream. Their fruit flavors are so tasty and bursting with flavor, I can’t get past the mango and get it every time. I had the dole whip once as well and while I did like the flavor, I am just not a huge fan of soft serve. Prices and portions are fair, service was nice and let us try a few samples. Store is clean but simple, great stop while in the area!

Oh I wish that was by my house!!! My sister raves this place so I decided to take my daughter there for a birthday treat since we were in the area. And, she was right! It is the best shaved ice I’ve ever had! It was like having fluffy light snow for dessert but with 3 flavors and a Snow Cap all above a scoop of yummy Lappert’s ice cream! It was a decent size place to enjoy a cold, tasty treat. Luckily, it wasn’t that crowded when we arrived but it can get a bit crowded as big groups arrive. Nevertheless, it is a great place. There’s even a wall mural of a Tastyblock Hawaiian beach with two ice blocks attached to the mural, perfect for a seated pose! So, when we got there, my daughter ordered a regular(medium sized) Double Rainbow(strawberry, mango, blue raspberry with a scoop of rainbow sorbet). I decided to get a regular size and pick my flavors(Orange Cream, Tigersblood, and Blue Raspberry) with a Snow Cap(condense milk) on top and a scoop of macapuno(sweet coconut) ice cream at the bottom. And oh, our shaved ice treats were so good especially the ice cream part being so rich and creamy. There is something about this shaved ice combined with the ice cream that just goes so well together! Can’t wait to come back again!!!

The only place I know in SoCal with LAPPERT’S ice cream! The next closest place would be in Vegas at the Cal but now there’s one right next to my house! The only part I don’t like is that they have limited ice cream flavors. I loved the Guava Cheesecake ice cream when I first came here but they didn’t have it. I guess they rotate flavors every now and then. They give you a generous amount in their single scoop of ice cream for $ 3.29. Now for the shaved snow, I thought it was a little ice-y. It is still delicious and tasty but I like my shaved snow a little on the milky side. The green tea shaved snow had LOTS of flavor — more than what I expected. I also love how they put the toppings on both the top and bottom of the cup, so you get some when you keep eating it. I think Blockheads wins for the best shaved snow. I really do like this place and it’s right by my house! It’s perfect for Lappert’s unique ice cream flavors or shaved snow! I have yet to try the shave ice or the dole whip!
