ENTERMERINO… When my mom was still alive, she used to get pandesal(popular Filipino baked rolls) at this place right next to Carson High, but it closed down. My aunt was the one that introduced me to Merino because she would get her pandesal, hopia and other pastries here. If you want to try some of THEBESTEMPANADAS ever, GOHERE! I LOVE their chicken empanadas! This place is also not as crowded as Red Ribbon or Goldilocks… plus Merino’s empanadas taste way better! I actually haven’t gotten any snobby attitudes yet, so therefore. this place is all good to me! :) EXTRAFACTS: –GREATPARKING! –It’s right next to BLUELOTUS if you crave really really good Phở and Asian food in general! –Need legal drugs? There’s a SAV-ON/CVS in the stripmall too! –Manila Lechon’s also a cool place if you crave more Filipino food before or after you go to Merino!

Ube Pandasal! The pandasal was good. I purchased a bag along with an ensaymada with the cream cheese in the middle. I have had better ensaymada. The price was ok. I was originally going to give this place 2 stars because there are so many other bakeries in the area that have really good stuff. But, the lady here was so nice! I thought the service was worth an extra star. I would probably return here if I was in the area. It is very convenient if you are in this shopping plaza. But, look around. There are a million Filipino bakeries in the area. On a side note, I actually prefer the ensaymada from Gemmae Bake Shop on Willow in Long Beach and would even drive there to get them. Overall, an AOK, place!

meh. i went in here by accident cuz i thought i was going into tambuli. i looked around and bought the empanadas cuz it was only 85 cents each! they looked homemade… and wasnt as good as red ribbons which is $ 2.99 ea =\ But maybe it wasnt as good, cuz it wasn’t even warm. but i’ll try it again during earlier hours. as for the service, umm, it was a girl, probably a part timer or something. something struck me about Jenn G’s comment about«the owner’s» attitude… come to think of it, i think i do remember going into this place once. i was already at tambuli with my cousins who were visiting from San Diego, when my mom texted me to get pan de sal and just as i was going to my car, i noticed this place next door. it was already like 2pm in the afternoon and i asked if i could get some newly baked pandesal, and this man said well just pick the one’s that are out already. che! how rude! hmm ~_~ but for his prices, i guess I’ll swallow my annoyance.

Updated from 3 stars to 2 star. We use to frequent this place for empanadas and would even buy dozens to bring to our family members and friends. The last time we did this however did not turn out that great. They wouldn’t give us a box to put our empanadas in and they insisted that a brown bag was good enough. Imagine giving a gift of goodies in a brown bag verus a nice bakery box =(… — — — — — — — — – This is a small little bakery in the heart of Carson(right next to Tambuli market and Manila’s Lechon Manok restaurant) This place has good chicken empanadas for less than a $ 1. If you are lucky enough to get them fresh and hot from the oven it is a real treat. When you see the empanadas however be sure to get the quantity you want… they sell fast(partially because they sometimes bake just for orders or only bake a few). Other than the empanadas, they also have other sweet treats like ube, ensaymada and pan de sal.
