Dansungsa Karaoke & Bar

DSS is one of our go-​to spots for late night Korean munchies, especially after work since they’re open late. We’ve always had a good experience. If you need anything, the servers are always fast to respond to the bell at the table. I like this location better than the Emerald one. This one is in the center of Korea town, by 99 Ranch and Hmart. But the older location, food might be better.
We liked everything we ordered today. Today we tried the bulgogi and cheese quesadilla special. I thought it was good, but be sure to eat it fast because it’s no good once the cheese gets cold.
The baby back ribs were also another one of our favorites. The sauce is alittle spicy, we found that by adding the cheese sauce it helps with the spice.
The cheese corn will always be a must order. The one we liked the least was the seafood pancake. It tasted more like scallion pancake, and I remember the other location also not having too much seafood either.
Lastly the fried chicken and special sauce was pretty good. We were mostly full by the time it came out, but it was really delicious.
I like the environment at this location so much better, it’s super clean, and still new. Hope it stays that way. The karaōke rooms are also nice. One thing I feel both locations could work on is a dessert menu. Not too much of a fan of «peach on ice. »

Yea the service isn’t that great and the food is decent. But I have to admit the flavored soju is GREAT! And it’s a nice place to kick back and just enjoy food and good drinks with your friends! I recommend the apple soju so smooth and not too sweet!

Okay. I just want to make sure that it is only my wife going through an unauthorized credit card transaction from this place. Please check your bank account after you visit this place because my wife just got charged unexpectedly after a month visiting Dansungsa.

Food is good but service needs improvement.
We usually come in a group of 5 or 6 and usually have to stand there for 10 minutes before they notice us at the door. Service is slow and inattentive. They don’t refill water or pass by to ask if you need anything. They don’t even bring enough napkins for some finger food as chicken wings and egg rolls.
About the food, I like their seafood tofu teriyaki. Tofu is deep-​fried so it is crunchy on the outside but still soft inside. The sauce was made with seafood (would have been better if they put more real seafood rather than kani and mussels). Chicken popcorn is good. Fried chicken is good and the portion is huge.
Their soup is ok! Get it if you really want something hot in cold weather.

Laid back environment with good food but poor service. We had a big group so we were had to break into two tables. The workers didn’t help set us up we had to move the tables and grab the chairs ourselves. When the order was taken, the server completely forgot to take the order of the second table (which is right next to the main table). We ordered multiple dishes and the last one came out almost an hour later. The food is good and come in huge portions but I wouldn’t come back unless it is with a smaller group. The other location located on 35 seems to have better service and know what they’re doing.

Great food and atmosphere is nice and modern while providing privacy if wanted. Service is wonderful.

DSS is always my number one Korean food/​bar I would go to. I am in love with the new location in Carrolton! So much more parking and the karaōke rooms here are so nice. Not to mention the food here! It’s a bit pricy but you do get your money worth. The food portion are HUGE! I personally love the seafood pancake and the steam pork with veggie but everything else I tried here is also pretty good.
Another note, try coming on a Wednesday if you can! It’s all you can drink cocktails for only $ 15 for girls and $ 18 for guys. That’s such a good deal! So if you’re looking for a good night, come here! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

Food is okay. Service is okay. Drinks are decent. A good place to hang out when you have a large group of friends.

Different layout from the original location. Added some private karaōke rooms. I think Dallas do need a few of those! :)
Old place is way better in terms of service and food quality.
I’ll drive extra 10 minute to the original location from now on until this place improves, and I hope it will, cos I still love this restaurant :)

After hearing that my favorite Korean bars was moving closer to me, I got very excited. Unfortunately, after visiting several times… I prefer the Harry Hines location… the ambiance is a lot better over there. Although these days, the crowd at the Carrollton location is getting a lot better due to the convenience of location. It’s the same prices and menu as the Dallas location, the biggest difference would have to be that the Carrollton location has about 4 karaōke rooms. One or two of those karaōke rooms hold about 50 people… 50!!! Or that’s what the employees told me. The tables are pretty close together which can get kind of annoying. But overall, you’ll probably see me at this location due to the convenience of location and the awesome bartenders (tip them well!)

I used to like their old location in Harry Hines and I was excited that they branched out in Carrolton now. We came here a few months ago for a friend’s birthday, the service was very slow at the time, but I thought that is because they just opened and we had a big table (a table of 10).
Tonight, my boyfriend and I came to this location for dinner, we ordered French fries, a soup and some chicken, it took 40 minutes and checked in 3 times with the server to get our food, and we got the French fries last, It was FRENCH FRIES, doesn’t take 40 minutes to make French fries. The whole experience was just annoying.
Generally speaking, I am not a fan of the new location.

I took a trip to Dallas to visit my friend and her mom wanted us all to eat here for dinner. The food was good, and the atmosphere was okay. We sat on the side where the booths are, which provides little space for those sitting against the wooden columns. The tables are really close to each other, so I basically heard the next table’s whole conversation as if I was part of their party. It was a dark inside to the point where my friend had to use her cell phone’s light to read the menu.
My friend’s mom ordered a platter filled with pork slices and seasoned/​marinated veggies. It was good, but I needed to use my fingers to pull apart the slightly tough meat. Waiter was nice and the service was great.
Not sure if I’ll go there again. I don’t live in Dallas, so I’ll probably explore more options before giving this place a second visit.

the food here is expensive and below average taste in korean food. service is like not exist. I will never come to this restaurant ever again.

Chill atmosphere, great food, karaōke in the back, food that will definitely fill you up and something for everyone to eat. Even got an all you can drink cocktail time after 9 at the bar! Great place to come eat with some friends and family for a get together a definite place to stop by and try.

I prefer the location in Dallas. The layout does not give you the privacy /​sectioned off seating like the original DSS. I felt like everyone could hear our convos and it was kinda bright for a ‘bar’.
Food and service was just fine. Waiters are young I felt hella old :)

Definitely this is a nice hang out place for all who are interested in experiencing Korean food and culture. The food is excellent and there are so many to choose from… If you are first timer it’s kind of daunting at first but definitely by the time you get familiarized with this place you will be ready for anything lol.
I enjoy the service and enjoyed talking to Grace and Nathan who works the bar. They are so fun to hang out with. On Monday and Tuesday they usually have happy hours and good deal at the bar.
I’ve been there three times within the last two weeks and I’ve always left with full satisfaction… Nice selection of music and I enjoy the lively atmosphere.

If I could give it no stars, I would. We came in a party of five and the server seated us at a table for four. We then asked her to move us to a bigger table but she looked confused and refused to. And told us to merge two tables together ourselves. We were then given ONE menu for all five of us. My boyfriend had to come grab the server to take our order. Every time we needed something or our water went empty, my boyfriend had to run to the front where five people were just standing around, to ask. Other than bringing the food to the table, that was probably the last time we saw our server. Food was okay but nothing compared to their original location, was definitely a let down. Also was not expecting my boyfriend to be our server LOL

Food was excellent in my opinion. Place was almost empty during the week and service was a little slow. My wife and I was hoping the atmosphere would be similar to the original in old Korean town. More bar like. This place is not what you would expect for Korean drinking establishment. No push button service. More upscale. Korean videos always on and fun to watch. Would go back. Korean liquors very expensive. Draft beer much better deal.

The service was horrible!!! We came in a party of 5, but they put us at a table of 4. When we asked the server if we could switch to a bigger table, she just told us to just join the table next to us to our table. So we ended up having to do that ourselves. Next, she only gave us 1 menu for the 5 of us, so one of us had to go out to the host desk again to ask for more menus. We continuously had to go back to the host desk to ask for their attention: refill on water, ordering our food, ordering more food, and getting our checks. They never once checked up on us.
Besides on the bad service, the food was excellent. We had the bacon mari, oden tahng, tteokkboki with ramen and gimmari, and the rice box. We also had yogurt soju, with 50% off from their daily specials.
Overall, food was outstanding, service was awful. I would recommend them to retrain again.
