Have come here many times. Their food is delicious. Every time. Generally, I order the chicken katsu. All of their katsu’s are their most popular orders. Seriously good! Crispy outside, good quality meat, nice little salad and rice to complement. Pretty good service. No complaints. They end every meal with a complimentary little thing of tart froyo, which finishes the meal nicely. It’s a pretty popular restaurant in the HMart area and would definitely recommend!

This is a very affordable, delicious, and filling meal. I ordered the chicken katsu and the chicken was tender while the outside was crispy. The katsu sauce was warm and flavorful. The cabbage salad was standard and the pickled onions/radish on the side were really good. The veggies are needed to cut through the fried chicken. There was a lot of food and I was extremely full after the meal, all for only $ 8.50. Service was excellent too.

READ!!! Don’t get me wrong, I love this place as in food wise. The food is great and I love coming here with my friends to hang out and eat. But I do NOT recommend using your card here. I used my card here and they took a long time getting me card back to me and a day later, my debit card number was compromised and someone was using it near walgreens and Kroger to buy stuff near $ 60. This place is good indeed but I would not recommend using your card but if so, watch them carefully.

Great little Korean restaurant! Came here on a Friday night with my friends who haven’t tried Korean food before. We got some bento boxes for dinner which gave a lot of food options for everyone. The bento box was a very good portion size and great price! The food came out really quick too considering the restaurant was full. Can’t wait to go back and try more food.

Came here and ordered the seafood udon soup and it was delicious. 5⁄5 stars. Came here again and ordered one of the vegetable udon soup dishes and I kid you not, it only had udon noodles and broth and nothing else. 0⁄5 stars. I feel like the rest of the menu is delicious though, so I will still give them 4 stars overall since maybe only a few dishes are hit and miss. Cute atmosphere.

I just really enjoyed their udon, but the place is pretty dim so you should sit close to the windows and the restaurant is cute.

yum, chicken katsu curry! This place is a Japanese/Korean restaurant owned by Korean people. I thought it was going to be a legit Japanese restaurant after looking at the menu, but it was heavily flooded by Korean people as we walked in. The restaurant itself is pretty big and spacious. I liked how the seating were open booths. Curry Katsu: 4⁄5 — It tasted like a cheap boxed curry brand, but I enjoyed the chicken katsu and salad! $ 9 Curry Katsu don: 4⁄5 — my friend said it was good, but it tastes like boxed curry. $ 8.50 Service was good only because my friend was Korean and he spoke to them in Korean and immediately brought out whatever we needed. It seemed like they were a bit understaffed.

Love this place. This place is definitely one of my staples in the DFW area and every time I’ve come here it has been a good time. The food is on point, as good as any other katsu as I’ve ever had, even compared to katsu in Hawaii and California. The service is also on point. The first few times I went, the service was okay, however, recently they’ve revamped their waiting staff and the service has been amazing — super attentive and really patient. The ambiance is alright — well-decorated and decent music. Food 5⁄5 Service 5⁄5 Ambiance 3⁄5 Favorites-curry katsu, Takoyaki, karaage

After picking up some items from Lowes hardware, my buddy stated that he was ready for some lunch and did I know of a good place to eat nearby. While he’s a big sushi fan, I knew he hadn’t experienced much in the way of home-style Japanese cuisine, so I suggested Abe. We both had a bento box — mine with pork tonkatsu & curry rice and his with teriyaki salmon. We also added a noodle side with our meals — mine were cold soba noodles and his an udon soup. He said the broth for his udon soup was the best he’d ever had and I really enjoyed my side as well. Service was very attentive, in fact, the best I’ve had here. All in all, a very enjoyable weekend lunch experience.

Service here has gotten better. They took the sashimi salads off their menu(boo). Their pork belly rice bowl and appetizers are pretty good! I will definitely order the pork belly rice again — the meat was cooked perfectly and melts in your mouth. Yum. Bento boxes are a good variety for those who are unsure of other items and want to «play it safe.» We usually go here when we want a break from Korean cuisine(which is abundant in this area).

This was my second time here. We didn’t know where to eat and were feeling sushi so we decided to stop in! We came in 20 minutes before they closed the kitchen and were the last ones to leave. The staff didn’t act annoyed at all and were friendly throughout the entire meal! Boyfriend ordered the ahi tower and I wanted the salmon bowl that I had the first time I came. I asked the waitress to make sure it would be the raw salmon on top of rice since I didn’t see it on the menu, and she reassured me it was. When my food came, it was the grilled salmon with curry on rice. She quickly apologized for the change in menu and put in an order for spicy tuna on rice for me. The ahi tower($ 12) was mediocre; it wasn’t anything special compared to other ones we’ve had and pretty expensive. The portion also wasn’t enough for my boyfriend to get full off of. Otherwise, the spicy tuna was good!

Stopped by for lunch on our way to Spa Castle after visiting Daiso and Tony Moly, and it wasn’t busy at all, maybe just our group and two other small groups. Service was fine, maybe a bit on the slow side, but we weren’t in a hurry. I had the tempura udon because it was cold outside and noodles are always a good idea. What was nice about it was that the tempura was separate from the bowl, so you didn’t end up with soggy tempura, because what’s the point then? I’m not a Japanese/Korean food expert, but it was good. The price was certainly right at $ 11. What was really weird is that my hot green tea was almost always lukewarm. They would go around with a ceramic kettle to refill any hot tea cups, and perhaps that cooled it off too much? It was just a little strange and disappointing to drink lukewarm green tea. I like it hot, baby. The ambiance was also a little weird with a big flatscreen TV right above my companions’ heads showing Korean soap operas and bad local lawyer advertisements, although it probably wasn’t as distracting when you’re sitting elsewhere. I didn’t look to see if there were more TVs. The tart frozen yogurt at the end was delicious. I almost considered asking if I could buy a cup of it, but we needed to get moving at that point, so I skipped it.

My sister and I wanted to try out a new restaurant so we decided to try Abe. We got the fried seafood udon and a rainbow roll. The fried seafood udon was delicious and came with a generous amount of seafood such as shrimp, mussel, etc. The sushi roll on the other hand, was very disappointing. The roll contained a large amount of rice and a very thin amount of fish. Not worth the money, especially since the noodle was almost the same price. I would definitely skip the sushi and stick with the hot food items. The service could also use a bit of improvement. The noodle is quite spicy and within the whole time there, no one refilled our water. Also we had to flag someone down for the check after numerous workers walked pass our table.

Wow, the Abe staff had TERRIBLE service today. I came in, and was not greeted until 10 minutes later standing there with my friend. And after being seated, we waited another 15 minutes until our server came by and then another 10 for our orders to be taken and another, say, 20 – 30 minutes for food to be given. This is not the type of customer service behavior I expect from this establishment, and I am disappointed. I feel that they need to hire more staff. Abe is always packed when I visit, and this is an issue to customers(who I feel are underhandedly not being treated like normal because they’re not Korean). Step your game up.

So they updated the interior and now the middle of the restaurant is rows of long tables and seats. Service is still good, the frozen yogurt at the end of the meal is still tasty as ever and a nice way to end your meal. Food: Cheese Katsu! They now will fry your tonkatsu with mozzarella cheese, omg it’s amazing, I recommend getting it in the bento so you get all the cool sides! Takoyaki: Best in Dallas! The takoyaki has a nice fresh ginger flavor and the sauce they top it all off with is some of the best I’ve tasted. If you order a regular menu item(not bento box) and you’re feeling extra hungry you can add a side order of udon and salad to make sure your meal is really filling.

My ex and I had a rule that when we went out together, we’d never order the same thing, because that’s boring and then you can’t share. That said, we’d always squabble over who’d get to order the cheese katsu at Abe. If you’re not familiar with this magical, mystical food, imagine two of the most delicious, junky foods in existence: mozzarella sticks and chicken tenders. Imagine they had a dirty, drunken night together and made the world’s most incredible baby– a piece of chicken, pounded flat, stuffed with melted mozzarella, then battered in light panko breadcrumbs. The katsu is served in a bento with California rolls, white rice, tempura veggies, and a few other things. The price is reasonable, the atmosphere is A-OK. After your meal, they’ll serve you some complimentary frozen yogurt to cleanse your palate. Everything about Abe is great– except the squid balls.

Pretty good place with a few hiccups. I’ve been here twice for dinner, both times with my dad(I live in the uptown/downtown area and wouldn’t drive this far out for just anyone). Abe has a pretty large menu with many delicious items to try. My first time here, I had a bento box while my dad had soba noodles. The items in my bento box were pretty good. Not great, but good enough especially considering the prices here. I tried some of my dad’s soba noodles and was impressed by the consistency/texture of the noodles: not too hard, not too soft, but perfectly tender. At the end of the meal, a small cup of frozen yogurt is brought to the table with your bill. A very nice touch. Our second time here, however, was a somewhat whirlwind experience. It was a Saturday night and the place was packed. Different servers stopped by our table at various points, uncertain if someone else had stopped by… the tone of the evening was a bit frenzied. Anyway, we started with the Takoyaki, which was delicious. I had an udon noodle dish, which was okay. The flavor was good, but the noodles tasted somewhat undercooked. Should’ve been softer. At the end of the meal, the server came by with the check and frozen yogurt for my dad and me. Then they quickly took away the trays, oblivious to the fact that my dad’s frozen yogurt was still on his tray… untouched. My poor dad. We waited a few minutes for the server to return so they could give my dad a new frozen yogurt, then ended up giving up and leaving.

I’ve been here a few times for lunch. It’s a good choice if you’re in the area. I’m not sure I’d go out of my way to come here. I’d give them 3.5 stars but I don’t think they’re good enough to round up to 4 Unilocal stars. Katsu Curry Bento Box: They gave a generous amount of food for the price. The ingredients seemed fresh. The curry was good. I’d say maybe just a bit over average. I liked that it wasn’t over salted but I thought it was oily. I think I make better Japanese curry but this would be a good alternative if I were lazy and didn’t want to cook it. Bulgogi bento: Though not Japanese, they gave a good amount of food. I think the Bulgogi needed a bit more flavor. Service can be inconsistent. The first time I came, I ordered and got my food in about 10 minutes. Sometimes it takes more than 10 minutes to just take my order. During one visit, I felt bad for the server. He was running around taking care of customers while others were standing behind the counter fraternizing with each other. The other two servers I’ve had were attentive and fast. It makes it hard for me to dine here during my lunch hour because I never know how the service will be.

I came here for lunch with my future hubby during a weekday and we ordered the rainbow roll, hwe dup bop, okonomiyaki(Japanese pancake) and traditional katsu don. Everything was delicious, especially the katsu don. The sauce on that dish is phenomenal. I’m drooling just thinking about it. It has fried pork cutlet, scrambled eggs, rice and katsu sauce on top. SOGOOD! The okonomiyaki was also a stand out dish for me. They give you a good amount of squid in the pancake and the batter they use isn’t too thick. The menu items are also decently priced. The okonomiyaki was the most expensive dish and I believe it was about $ 12. Everything else was under $ 10. However, the service wasn’t very good. After we ordered and they brought the food out, we had to flag them down to get water refills, to go boxes, and the check. It was difficult to even flag down a waiter because they were all hiding in the back. Hopefully this won’t happen the next time we’re there.

Tasty tasty! I was looking for onigiris as they’re in short supply in Austin and this place satisified the craving well. It’s actually Korean run, but there are a lot of Japanese dishes on the menu as well as a few fusion. I quickly dove into the $ 5 side of 3 onigiris as an appetizer — Japanese seasoning(seaweed, sesame, bonito flakes I think, distributed through out the rice ball), tuna, and masago. NOM. Each one was quite large, nearly the size of my palm and quite warm. I had every intention of getting noodles but took one look at the donburi(rice bowl) page and I was sunk! The chirashi was only $ 9.50! They had an all sake(salmon) version! A tako(octopus) don! One of each please! Unfortunately, I had only the salmon version cause I was feeling boring that day, but I will be back to try all the others.
