July 2015 –Quick update to this forsaken place. I still see the building there, but not much has changed. Their silly sign fell apart during the storms earlier this year so they just taped it with plastic sheeting — sounds like the owners are really struggling with it. There seems to be some workers there with white pickup trucks, but nothing significant change since the beginning of January and we are half-way through the year. Bulldoze the place and put a gas station or Starbucks.

As of 1÷15÷15, it’s closed, guys. All signage for Rev Burger is gone, and there’s a «for lease» sign out by the road. When it was open, the hazelnut shake was pretty darned good. The chicken sandwich wasn’t bad, and the burgers were OK. Fries were good. I wanted to try the chicken nuggets, but apparently didn’t get back here in time. Still, the one time I went, I said to my SO that if I was going to this area for a sandwich, I’d probably go to Augustino’s Deli across the street. Rev wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t special enough to make me go, «hey, I need to go THERE.» Augustino’s is special enough, and behold, it’s also still open.

Something is definitely off with this place. The Rev sauce had a strange taste. The burger didn’t look quite real it was so thin. Brown on outside and pink on the inside. And those sweet potato tots have chunks of something inside and no flavor. I wish I had Unilocaled this place before I ordered and paid. I took one bite of everything and threw it in the trash. I drove down the street to a more established joint where a nice, hot, fully-cooked burger and sundae were waiting for me instead.

I have to say the food at this place just wasn’t good at all. Nothing I ordered came out as expected. The s vice was not much better. I did not see one person working that seemed to care at all… Don’t waste your time here…

It does taste like a rally’s burger but a bit more out of the wallet. There are a lot better out there! Not exactly sure what I was ordering until it came out.

Decent burgers. Gluten free options available. With an over-saturated burger market, this place is about 4th or 5th on my list. Its proximity to my house makes it an easy choice. Other than that, I’d choose That Burger Joint or Smash Burger over Rev.

My 4 year old son and I ate here last night. I was happy about the gluten free options. I had the chicken tenders, my son had the kids cheeseburger(no bun). We were supposed to share fries and sweet potato tots… but it ended up being me eating them all. The fries are seasoned and my son is a plain eater. I had their unsweetened iced tea and my son had an apple juice. We spent $ 16. It was a good deal. The food was good. I did not have an upset stomach when I left… which can happen at some places that say they have gluten free options. We will go back.

I like the idea of Rev Burger. There are not a lot of places around that offers a «healthier» burger. The place was clean and the staff were very helpful! In the indoor seating area that were ipads on every table where you can order/pay yourself. I thought that was different and new but didn’t have the chance to try it out. They have a nice outdoor patio area. Not really a great view of anything but it was nice to have an option to sit outside. As for the food. It was decent but I was extremely disappointed. The burgers were very thin and there was a ton of Rev sauce on it. I also got the sweet potato tots. I LOVE anything sweet potato but they just tasted weird. Also, as seen in my picture I only received half a container full. The food was okay but definitely not worth $ 9. Overall, I like that there is a «better» burger option out there than the usual burger joints but this place is not as revolutionary as it should be.

I realize I am in the minority… but I rather enjoyed my experience here. It’s definitely one of a kind. I love burgers but I do try to eat healthy. I adore the concept of a healthy burger joint. Perfect way to ease the guilt of my burger addiction. Regardless of the reviews I just had to try it. The service was fantastic. Greeted as soon as we walked in, served right away, questions fully answered and I never felt rushed. After placing our order we saw ipads at each table on which you could directly place your order and even pay for it via credit. Added bonus, some games for our little one to play with to pass the time. The employees brought the food to our table on a tray and asked if we needed anything else before leaving. That was really nice. They even came and cleaned up our table as soon as we were done. And of course to end our visit, a proper salutation upon exiting. Don’t have a single complaint about the service. I actually really enjoyed the food itself. I asked for my burger well-done because I’m pregnant and there was no problem. I cut my burgers in half before I eat them. I feel like they are tastier that way because for that first bite you get to sink your teeth into the tastiest, fully dressed, middle part of the burger. Perhaps it’s all in my head, but maybe that helped me to enjoy the meal more than some other reviewers. The char hot dog was pretty okay and I’d probably get it again. The meats definitely have a lighter less greasy«healthier» taste to them. But hey, in my opinion it’s worth the sacrifice to be able to eat my favorite foods with a healthy twist. First time I had fries that were not fried in oil and that were actually delicious. Also, love that the burgers come in either 3oz or 6oz patties. Rev sauce is also really good. I know it’s weird that the kids burger is just a patty. We did see that written on the menu beforehand, so we just opted for a plain 3oz rev burger instead. There are no «value meals». Everything is a la carte, so it made no difference price wise. Location bonus, if you are truly unhappy there is a Wendy’s across the street. I found that interesting. Will be going back for sure. Hoping that my next visit is just as enjoyable.

Really do not understand all the negative ratings-especially in regards to the service. I live two minutes away, go about once a week, and have NEVER experienced inattentive, unfriendly, or lethargic attitudes. I would say my experience has been the exact opposite. I have always been greeted with a big smile, a happy hello, and thorough/chipper explanations to my questions. In terms of the food, the fries are absolutely delicious. You bite through a zesty seasoned crispiness and into a wonderful world of actual potato flavor. Honestly these baked fries are ten thousand times better than fried fries. Better yet, after you eat them, your face doesn’t ooze out grease/you won’t feel weighed down or anything like at other fried food places. Next-love the milkshakes. Only have had the Chocolate one but that’s because I love chocolate. It’s made with frozen yogurt so again it’s lighter and feels better in your stomach post-meal. Almost like a chocolatey-er/creamy-er version of a frostie from Wendy. Lastly, the burgers are pretty good! Not the greatest burger in the world, but compared to other options in the area, definitely above average. Grass-fed, so again, it sits well in your stomach after the meal. Overall, Rev Burger is a great for when you don’t feel like being weighed down by something greasy but still want a hefty meal.

I really wanted to like thus place. Nice décor, TVs and iPads for ordering, healthy concept in burgers, but the execution was poor. The menu doesn’t really describe most of the offerings and the staff didn’t seem too engaged either. After I ordered, I watched and heard off the clock staff complain about not getting their checks and owners not answering the phone. When my food came out, I had to ask for my drink as they didn’t give it to me when I ordered or with the food. Now the food, the fries are not fried but seasoned and baked. Yes they are crispy but tasted charred and not in a good way. The seasoning was just odd and like they just mixed left over paprika and other spices. Burger is grass fed, so it’s less fatty but was cooked OK. But the sauce, not sure what kind of sauce its meant to be but its nasty. At times sweet, almost fermented and then spicy and then no flavor. Didn’t like the food and felt kinda sick for the rest of the afternoon. No plans to return.

Okay, so, after reading some of the raunchy reviews, I decided, as a avid foodie and seeker of what is right and good, to check this place out. Yes, even with the paltry 1 and ½ stars, really? That bad? Had to see for myself, though, trust me, I prefer not to guinea pig myself OR my child. Here goes, I agree, the intercom system needs to be tweaked but in their defense, I didnt understand what she was asking because I wasnt familiar with the menu, she wanted to know if I wanted ‘rev sauce’. Yeah sure, I will try it. I ordered the dog, because I limit my intake of nitrates and sludge when I can, I have had such a craving for one and exactly the way my grandparents made em(they owned one of the first food trucks in Chicago way back in the day, selling dogs, polish and Tom Toms). I still miss those REAL Vienna beef hot dogs. So, back to my review. Ketchup, yes, I DID, mustard, tomato and onion! Ordered the chicken sandwich for my girl and a couple orders of the ‘fryless’ fries. The wait, I agree, was not indicative of the fast food pace BUT, the convenience of not getting my lazy, convenience seeking buttocks out of the car garners me to keep my trap quiet about the length of time we had to wait for our meal. Sometimes you people really suck with your reviews and as I always say, McD’s is right down the street with their PAPERTHIN processed, who knows what the hell is in it, patty. Now, after first bite, oh YEAH, thank you, thank you, Rev did NOT disappoint, it was good, for a dog without nitrates. It was juicy and delicious, just the way I had hoped. Next, the chicken sandwich, and I quote, «better than Portillos, mom» unquote. Another win. Last, our fries were delicious, unfried :) In conclusion, we LOVE Rev and will definitely will be back. The prices are MORE than reasonable for what you get(refer back to my previous remark about the competition down the street) and the flavors did not disappoint. I did knock off a star for the wait, the intercom and expensive bottled water. Wont deter me from coming back and will definitely bring others along with trying your organic tea next time. Look for my additional review after I try the burger. And THANKS for all you do, we need more places like you guys around. See you soon!

The 1st time I ate at rev burger I got a bacon cheese burger and it was good, tastes like steak and shake, but this time I got the char broiled chicken sandwich and it was horrible not edible. It was a boiled chicken boiled Chicken breast! Gross

As others have stated I also love the concept. Food just needs to be better. Burger was bland, tots were mushy, wife was unimpressed with char dog, fries were actually pretty good. They did do a good job on the remodel. I would suggest they stop, evaluate and launch Rev Burger 2.0. Clearly the demand is there for such an establishment.

Yeah, thanks but no thanks. I unfortunately agree with most of the reviewers about this place. I should have stuck with either of my two lunch choices, but Rev Burger won out. I figured if it was as terrible as people said, I’d check it off my list as a «Nope, never again» restaurant. Mission accomplished. I’m not a huge burger fan, so I decided to try the fry-less chicken tender sandwich. I went through the drive-thru, which was comical. The speaker system is awful; I could barely hear the guy taking my order and I’m sure he couldn’t hear me. Thus, I knew immediately my order would be messed up, one way or another. Approaching the window, the kid gave me my total, thankfully since I couldn’t hear it at the drive-thru speaker. After paying $ 9.13(!!!) for a Chicken tender meal, I parked and inspected my meal. The fries were hot and fresh, surprisingly. Like another reviewer said, they are reminiscent of Arby’s curly fries, minus the curl. They were crisp, well cooked, and not overly salted. The chicken tender sandwich was a joke. I didn’t add any extras, so all I had was three huge leaves of lettuce, tomato slices, and mayo. I noticed on the receipt it said«no sauce.» Um, I didn’t request no sauce! I was pretty ticked off, because maybe whatever that sauce was may have improved the quality of my sandwich(slightly). There wasn’t anything special about the ingredients used. The chicken tasted like it was on par with Tyson chicken nuggets. What a huge disappointment. Seriously, I could get a better, more flavorful chicken sandwich from Burger King or Wendy’s for much cheaper. Yes, I know this place boasts free range, hormone free chicken and 100% grass-feed hormone free beef, yadda yadda yadda. I’m not against eating healthy; I myself shop organic whenever possible and only eat fast food a couple times a month now. But the food passed off at this place is tasteless, boring, and overpriced. Don’t waste your time or money.

The«Rev» in Rev Burger stands for Revolution. We know this, because on the first Friday night since their opening, complete anarchy reigned in the kitchen. The process of ordering was… confusing. Apparently the iPads on the tables aren’t there just for your entertainment, you can use them to order food. Except for the two that were out of order(already?). Regardless I eventually pushed through our order(repeated twice to the order taker), and that’s when I stepped back to see just how crazy things were. Frankly, I thought I was in a Kitchen Nightmares episode. Lots of people standing around. Someone walking in from the drive-thru holding area, having waited for 15 minutes, and… the order completely unmade. Time ticked away on the order board… 10 minutes, then 15 minutes, then 25 minutes. For one order. There were 5 orders total, mine wasn’t on the board, the wait stuff was clearly overwhelmed, undertrained and verging on unprofessional, and I was getting concerned. And the owner was nowhere to be found, apparently trying to restore order to the back end of the kitchen while the proletariat raged in the front end. Like I said, a Kitchen Nightmares episode. So it was sort of surprising that I got my food in about 15 minutes(still ~8 minutes too slow for a «fast food» place). The burgers were surprisingly good(and hot, fortunately). I got the optional Mexican sauce, which actually resembled In-N-Out Burger’s special sauce more than anything Mexican. This was a good thing! Veggies were fine. The sides need some tweaks; among other things, even baked tots and fries can be made to be crunchy, so this should be done. And I get that the fast food restaurant is trying to be healthy, but at least provide salt and pepper as an option? What the restaurant really needs to do is shut down for a week and hire an experienced consultant to fix all this, and fast. The interior is all nice and shiny, but operations are a complete mess. In a regular chain, this issue would be solved with standardized training and experienced management to back up the front-line servers. But the concept is good and the ingredients taste good too. So I hope the owner can put this ship back together and iron things out, because it’s definitely got more potential than the Burger King it replaced.

Wow. I am super impressed. I didn’t think it could be so comically terrible… I visited via drive thru, so didn’t get to appreciate the grandeur of the interior. I do love an upcycled Burger King, but not even my curiosity could force me to haul my sleeping baby and hungry preschooler through the parking lot on this extracold day. I’m glad there’s a drive thru. That’s pretty much where the list of positives ends. Oh, that, and both employees I encountered were adorable if unseasoned, so the owners of this place at least did themselves a favor by hiring smiling customer service agents. I’m not going to go into a whole heap of detail about all the badness, because I think it’s been fairly well covered already, after just two days of being open. The photos I’ve included tell my story well enough… I ordered a rev burger, kids burger, fries and chocolate shake. The shake was pretty lousy and didn’t resemble any milkshake I’ve ever encountered. I’m glad I checked my bag of food before we drove too far down the road, because the fries were missing. I figured I’d at least give my son his burger to enjoy while we headed back for the fries, but… Wait for it… I opened the wrapper to find A LONELYPIECEOFMEAT! No bun, no anything. Seriously? What am I supposed to do, hand my small child a hamburger patty and call it «lunch»? Good thing we were both in good moods and Baby was sleeping peacefully, cause we had to laugh. Anyway, I went back through the drive thru, picked up fries and a bun, returned the awful shake. The food itself… the fries were decent, like Arby’s curly fries without the curl. The burgers were edible, though not even warm enough to begin to melt the cheese, as other reviews have already mentioned. If you must try this place out of morbid curiosity(and I understand if you do), approach it with a sense of humor and a good dose of patience.

Not a good start for a fast food restaurant. I was 5th in line, and it took about 15 minutes for me to finally get to a cashier. On top of that, their credit card system was down, and didn’t inform any of the customers. I ordered a Rev cheeseburger w/bacon, and it took another 10 minutes for them to get the burger to me. I checked to make sure they got my order right, and they didn’t. I sent it back because they forgot to put bacon on it, and they gave it back to me without doing anything to it! They apologized for the inconvenience, and at this point I just want to get out. The food was cold and it tasted bland to me. They would’ve benefited from having a soft opening to get some kinks out of the way. I would wait a couple more weeks before giving them another try.

In the parking lot of the Home Depot located on Schmale Road in Carol Stream once sat a Burger King, some time ago the Burger King closed and I noticed some renovation going on and wondered what it might turn into. Not too long ago I noticed a sign that said Rev Burger, googled the name, found a website and found out the restaurant concept. The idea here is healthier fast food, so hormone free meats, no high fructose corn syrup, and apparently free from anit-biotics which makes me hope to god it’s cooked thoroughly. I’ve watched as it went up further and further and over the weekend noticed someone had actually reviewed it. So on Monday I stopped by only to be told they don’t open until Tuesday. Well Tuesday had arrived and I arrived that afternoon to not only give the Rev Burger a try, but the Rev Dog a try as well. The first thing to note is that they heavily redecorated the Burger King to look stylish, this didn’t offend my senses to a Tom and Eddies level, but a cold metal chair that was unusually light wasn’t exactly the perfect seat when I eventually sat down to eat. There wasn’t much of a line at the time I walked up with only one person ordering ahead of me. There was a lady directly behind the counter who told me to wait, then the cashier arrived, took my order and proceeded to be trained on the spot on how to enter the order. After I ordered I asked if they bring it out to me or if I pick it up at the counter, I was told yes they bring it out. I then got some water and headed to find a seat. After about a 10 minute wait I heard my order number called, this seemed strange since I was told it would be brought out to me. I grabbed the bag and headed back to where I was seated and snapped some pictures of the food before digging in. First let’s cover the Rev Burger. I ordered a double cheeseburger with cheddar cheese. The cheeseburger came on a fairly thick bun, the bun was soft and didn’t have sesame seeds or anything on it that you might associate with your usual hamburger. I asked for whatever normally comes on it and there was tomato, lettuce, pickle and«rev sauce». The cheese was not in any way melted and was two cold slices of cheddar cheese wedged between the various layers. The actual beef patties were very thin and reminded me of the ones you might find at Steak N Shake. So how did it taste? Well have you ever had that neighbor that would grill in the back yard a few times every Summer, you always felt obligated to eat something if you went over to chit chat and he always made very plain back yard burgers but they were free so you couldn’t really complain too much? Well, imagine that same back yard burger only it was expensive for fast food, slow for fast food and you can complain about it because you’re paying for it. Next let’s move on to the Rev Dog. The rev dog came on a fairly soft bun with diced tomato, onion, mustard and a pickle slice on it. The actual bun was considerably longer than the dog itself. So how did the rev dog taste? Well, it tastes like a grocery store hot dog. When I eat a hot dog like this, I’m often reminded of how when my parents would buy these as a kid. They would usually be utilized as fishing bait rather than consumed by a person. That’s what this hot dog tasted like. Not good. So what is the Rev in Rev Burger short for? Perhaps it short for revolting like the hot dog I had? Maybe it’s for Reverse, the gear I’ll put my car in if I ever get close to the parking lot again. I was not the least bit impressed, lousy food, high prices, slow service. One star for Rev Burger.
