This is probably the worst pizza place I’ve ever been to – in 35 years of dining on the Eastside. Overpriced, boring, greasy, tiny, generic, and it’s also a small ice cream parlor. Just move along and don’t look back imo. Even Lazy K’s Pizza & Pasta is better, if not even more overpriced and less pleasant. Even supporting«Local Teens» is not a good enough reason to go here. Now, normally I would expect a pizza and ice cream place to be a good combo based on many other such places, but this is not the case. Even their ice cream /shakes are pretty nasty… and I normally like both. I’ve been avoiding Blakes for 20+ years for good reason. Each time I think they might be worth another try, I realize that I should have just gotten a take & bake pizza from Papa Murphy’s or Costco instead. I would have been twenty bucks ahead per pie and had better food. Don’t settle for this type of local dining experience just because there are no other good pizza options in town. You could do so much better for dine-in Pizza if you’re willing to go for a drive outside the city limits, into Redmond or Issaquah.

Customer service, ice cream choices and cleanliness. It was top notch for the small town. The décor is older but clean and pleasant. The staff and very sweet and exceptionally helpful and kind to little kiddos. I would love to come back and try out their pizzas and salads. Reminds me of my hometown local pizzeria. Thanks for making our Saturday afternoon post Mt. Bike ride awesome with two tasty sugar cone bubblegum ice creams.

I had the unusual occasion to eat lunch in Carnation today. So my buddy and I rather randomly searched the web for places to eat in town, and we ended up here. Ok, so, random pizza place, I went in with fairly low expectations. But it was much better than I expected. I thought the pizza was very good, and my buddy was pleased too. We each ordered a small pizza, with different varieties of toppings. The service was friendly and helpful. The only complaint: the pizzas did take a long time to come out. Still, it was worth it. I’d rather have good food that takes a little longer than fast food that’s crap.

Typical greasy pizza place, the food is good if that’s what you’re looking for. The service is consistently slow(like waiting an hour + for a pizza) and the order is nearly always wrong(missing food, wrong type, etc.). If you have a spare 2 – 3 hours and like eating mystery meals, this is your place.

So My experience at Blake’s is consistent and yummy. My Granddaughter and I had lunch at the end if summer snd she said she lived her milkshake and slice if pepperoni pizza. It was a generous slice of pizza too! I have their house salad snd really like it snd the ranch dressing. I Visited again with my husband and we tried a Suzy Q pizza that was really good and definitely would order again. I had the Mediterranean grinder sandwich which was so good! Its a winner! Their staff was friendly and polite! Great overall experience. We will be back snd a great place for pizza snd sandwiches!!!

Blakes is a Carnation staple. I’ve been eating there & loving it since a young teen. Great pizza & ice cream. But the Grinders are where it’s at. Can’t find a grinder like Blakes anywhere. My favorite is the Blakes Grinder add pineapple. Phenomenal! If ur there get a grinder. They’re all great.

I had an order for pick up and the gal was very friendly and the order was ready when they said it would be. Pizza was average and about what I expected. Crust was more bready than some and had herbs or seasonings in it. My husband really liked it.

I’m giving up. I like the general charm(outdated and the food is a little greazy), but everytime I call to order sandwiches, not even a whole pizza, for pick up, oh darn, they’ve just closed for the night, regardless of what time. I thought I nailed them down to a time, I was told they close at 8:30, every night, even Friday and Saturday. Tried to order sandwiches for pick up last night at 8:10, nope, they closed at 8. We’ve learned to call before heading over there. I love the idea of giving teenagers a job, but maybe they shouldn’t be in charge of when the business closes. It’s just not worth planning our dinner around what time they’ll be closed. I might go back if they update their to-go menu to include hours of operation.

Best grinders i’ve ever had! Their pizza is good too and they often have ready to eat slices which is convenient. The staff is always very friendly. I try to come here as often as possible

Pretty much my favorite place to stop in Carnation for a bite. Definitely a good spot while traveling through the area.

Way below average. The resturant needs a good cleaning, pizza was really bad, the crust had no flavor and the pizza tasted like a frozen pizza. I don’t recommend this place. We even got ice cream and it tasted freezer burnt.

Brought the boys here after an outing on the Snoqualmie Valley Trail as they had a hankering for a slice & some milk. The kids thought the Cheese was perfectly adequate, the Hawaiian was very good & dad thought the Tomato-Pesto Chicken was nearly perfect. Ingredients were balanced, the crust was not overly chewy & the slices were rather generous. As a matter of fact, I enjoyed it so much I took the opportunity to order a pie to go(which I rarely ever do) Make damn sure when we venture out on the SVT later in the Summer I will look to stop in for a slice & see what the staff is singing to on the mp3 jukebox.

Just found this place on accident last year and after going once I was hooked. The hot grinders are amazing and the inferno is my top choice. If you don’t want it to hot, throw in some pineapple. It has a family feel and affordable prices. Great stop for lunch or dinner

We came here for the first time this past weekend. I got a slice of cheese pizza and the hubby got ice cream. The pizza was a pretty big slice and tasty enough. I’m not a pizza connoisseur, but it hit the spot. The crust wasn’t greasy(which I actually like), but it was herby and tasty. Pizza was more toward the thin side. I liked it. Ice cream was creamy goodness. The guy working there, possibly the owner, I don’t know, was friendly. He came out and gave our dog a bowl of water since it was so hot. Service was quick.

I agree with the other folks saying the customer service is seriously lacking. I am a long time resident of Carnation and this has always been the case there. The grinders are delicious and about the only thing I’ll order there. This place seriously needs some updating as nothing has been done to it since it opened. And the solution to not replacing the formica on the tables is glue down vinyl? Also consider scrubbing the walls and backs of things like the cash register. Remove the oversized soda machine so you can see your customers, stop charging an extra charge for credit card transactions. You are still paying the % regardless if the charge is $ 5.00 or $ 5.75. What is the point?

In my ever so humble opinion, I think Blake’s pizza and grinders are very tasty indeed… The crust is soft and a little sweet, the sauce is perfectly seasoned and the ingredients taste fresh. I was greeted with a smile, a friendly face and my pizza was done in a timely manner. Zero complaints. We’ll be back for sure.

I grew up in the area, and Blake’s has been a standby. The owner was the DJ at the girl scout father-daughter dance I attended with my sister and dad when I was little, and there are still photos of the event on the wall. :o) Every time I see that, it makes me happy. The pizza is yummy, the ice cream and milkshakes are delicious and made pretty quickly. No complaints here, just wish that Carnation wasn’t so far away these days.

I went to Carnation after stopping by Remlinger farm to spend some good family time. I looked up local Ice Cream, and found this gem hole in the wall spot. I had the Blake’s Grinder Sandwich, and a scoop of ice cream. My husband and I split the sandwich, and when we got in the food we said to ourselves that this sandwich is huge, it’s a good thing we split it. We were on the run, so we ate in the car on the way home, and we both wished we got our own sandwich. It was awesome. The bread had a nice crisp to it, and all the ingredients were fresh and well paired. I’ll definitely be going back to Blake’s soon.

I don’t really get this place. I’ve lived in Carnation for 17 years and Blakes has been here the whole time. The problem is that it never changes… same bad pizza, same poor service. Is it asking too much to train the staff to greet the customers when they come in? Customer service 101. Why not rework the pizza selection: better crust, better sauce, maybe some more options like we can get elsewhere? It’s like the owner doesn’t want to make $$. I know that Blakes does a good business selling pizza to Tolt Middle School… problem is that adults and kids don’t like the same pizza! One nice thing is that Blakes had supported the community in the past.

As others have said, the worst thing about this place is the customer service. Between the untrained kids at the register and the older guy(owner?) who is always jerking around away from the kitchen, what should take a couple of minutes to place an order usually becomes a 10-minute task. I’ve never bothered ordering a whole pizza because I can’t imagine how long it would actually take for them to make it. Nonetheless, when you get the jones for pizza, what are you gonna do? So instead of eating there once or twice a week as I might, I usually only drop in for a take-out slice when my pizza-meter reads 11. Also never have tried a sandwich for the same reason. Can’t imagine how big of a production that would be. At lunchtime, the place is full of people who have ordered and are standing around with this«i just want my food’ look on their face. I hope the owner/manager takes this all to heart. A few minor tweaks could make this a very serviceable place.
