Stopped for some drive thru on the way home. we were the only ones so that was nice. The service was fine. No issues. Dinner and shake was good. Really love their shakes! So goooood. I would eat here again.

The service here was terrible. Our party of seven was told it would be 10 – 15 minutes before we were seated, which didn’t make since because the restaurant was mostly empty. We were probably there for a half and hour, the staff was just ignoring us. By the time we were seated the restaurant was completely empty. The waitress and food were fine, but the wait was not worth it. Also, they locked their doors before twelve, but they don’t close until one?

I used to come to this Steak ‘n Shake three days a week for breakfast, but quit coming because it was dirty. Came back after a 4 month absence, and it is still filthy. I probably won’t be back.

Went through the drive thru. Asked for breakfast at 3:23 a.m. in the morning. They advertise breakfast stating at midnight. I asked for breakfast 3 and half hours after they adverstise. No breakfast. This is the worst Steak N Shake I’ve ever been to

I have been a fan of steak and shake for many years. I have dined at this steak and shake several times and always been satisfied. But not so tonight. I ordered a salad and the chili Mac’s supreme dinner. To my surprise the salad was about one third of the size it used to be. And to top it off the chili Mac had so little chilly that I had to ask for more. When the server brought me more she bought me a small little bowl with about 2 tablespoons of chili in it. The chili was inedible it tastes like it been sitting in a pot all day long and the flavors have become so strong and concentrated that I could not eat it. Then when we checked out and were ready to pay our bill they charged us twice for the tip. When I brought this to their attention they had to get the manager to correct it which took a good five minutes to get corrected. The short of it is I will not dime at this nor any other steak and shake in the foreseeable future. The quality has just deteriorated to the point it’s not worth even trying to eat there.

Sadly we waited, and waited, and waited a little more. They all noticed our family of 4 waiting to be seated but no one came over. Finally, someone yelled in a monotone voice — «someone will be with you in a minute sir.». After a few more minutes we left. As we were leaving I caught the eye of the manager and she looked the other way. The wait staff also ignored us leaving.

The service is always slow here but I’ve never been motivated to post a review until tonight: We stood on our feet 10+ minutes waiting to be seated, not because there were no tables. The staff simply did not prioritize seating guests. By the time we were greeted, there were about 10 – 12 more people in 4 other groups behind us. The server who brought our food did so with no smile, eye contact or speaking. The food was very cold. I didn’t want to return it because it was clear the staff that night were not keeping up. I had to go sneak silverware sets from their station because I could not get their attention. All the staff would avoid making eye contact, or if they accidentally did make eye contact they immediately turned away from you so they wouldn’t have to respond. When I [finally] got a second Coke drink, I was stunned he did not notice that it was so obviously wrong, being almost 100% clear in color.(Or he didn’t care if he did notice.) I told him at the outset that we would ordered shakes to go after the meal. When he brought those, he failed to bring our ticket. He told me to meet him at the counter, where he first attended 3 other teens at the counter. Then he told me my total without offering a ticket. We know this location well because we live nearby. I strongly believe they have the same management for years now because the symptom of avoiding eye contact has been noticeable at this Carmel Drive location for years. Other Steak and Shakes in the area do not have that, nor any of these issues.

I’ve been to several Steak ‘n Shake locations now and I have to say one thing they have in common, besides the menu of course, is that the service has almost always been crap. You get someone who obviously doesn’t want to be there and you worry when you leave if they’ve spit in your food. Not the case here. The service every time I’ve been here has been great. They’re very friendly and on top of things. No missing fries, no forgotten shake and no angry looking cashier at the window giving you the wrong change. In fact, I even had a nice little convo with the guy at the window last night. Food quality is the same, but the service is what will keep me coming back here.
