I asked the produce manager where their strawberries are? He said they don’t have any. There are some prepared … So if you want to buy them you are forced to pay a premium«prepared» price. So the customer as no choice.

For their bakery– my son turned 13 today and yesterday we ordered cheesecakes from them. A gal took our order and said it’d be ready by 11AM today. Well I went to pick it up at 1115 and they said they didn’t have my order and in fact they don’t even do cheesecake orders! She pointed to their frozen ones and offered those to me. She was very rude(the manager) and acted like she didn’t care, not one bit. Marsh, Your never getting another penny from me of my household. You ruined my day. I spent the next 3 hours and a half tank of gas to find the perfect place. Taylor’s bakery at 62nd and Allisonville Road filled my order, and they are fresh, not frozen. Shame on you Marsh, my 6000 $$ a year at your stores are going somewhere else!

OK… so this review is somewhat skewed as we just went in to quickly pick up a bottle of wine for a party. With that said, the only thing that stood out to me about this store was the size and variety of products located in the alcohol section. WOW! It rivaled most liquor stores! They even had some ‘top shelf’/pricey bottles that I would not have guessed could be located there. Huh. Lots of booze should mean a high star rating, right? Not in this case. Anyway — we thought about picking up a snack while there and realized a few things. One — concept stores/Marketplace stores confuse us. As a creature of habit it is hard for me to shop like that. Two — the selection of foods was lacking. Maybe it is just me, but when I go to a grocery-type store, I expect a lot of food. Huh. Luckily they have other stores for traditionalists like me in my neck of the woods. If I could split the difference, this place would be a 2 ½ star rating just for the massive booze selection, walk-in flower cooler, and overall cleanliness.

I love this Marsh, but the little girl with glasses and box-dyed orange hair at the self-serve check out has an extremely bad attitude.

Finally without hazardous road conditions and warmer temperatures I was ready to go for something different for lunch. Marsh has an outstanding salad bar, very fresh, many options. This is my «go to» when it want a salad. They have great sushi options as well as warm foods. The only downfall is those working the lines in the deli area, just a little slow.

The salad bar and prepared food section of this Marsh was renovated in 2010, making it one of the best ones that I’ve seen in a grocery store. Even more important, they work hard at keeping it clean and fully stocked during the weekday lunch rush. And, for $ 5.49/lb, it’s one of the best(and healthiest) lunch values I’ve found by the office. I usually stick to the salad; however, sometimes I try a sandwich, sushi, soup, or one of the meals on the hot line. On the days when I’m really hungry, I swing by the fresh fruit bar and grab some grapes to munch on. It’s like I’m back in college, minus the meal plan and pajamas.

This recently remodeled store is like a secret gem for lunch! They have the salad bar, fruit bar, soup bar, hot food bar, and sandwich bar. While no actually alcohol bar, I’m sure you could swing over to that part of the store for a pick-me-up if that is how you roll. *shrugs* Either way, I recommend this as a good place to grab a quick lunch, especially when you have no idea what you want.

Small town grocery loses its edge! Remember when we shopped at grocery stores because of the service with a smile? There are a few good men left that understands what it means to smile and take care of people. But honestly what I think needs to happen is that the younger associates need to be well trained in what it means to take care of people. The people that have been there for years get it… there’s a handful of teenagers who this might be their first job who just need a customer service revival!
