Aldi is my favorite grocery store. The prices are very inexpensive. The stores themselves are small and very user friendly. You are not walking all over the place trying to find 1 item. Team members are nice and friendly.

Prices, check. Inventory, check. Customer service, check. This place has the basics in groceries, all for great prices. They have seasonal items, from cookie mixes, to pool supplies. They have a section of tools that had grown over the years; a yellow and black brand whose name I cannot recall. They have a specialty food items section that has some name brand items. I’ve seen Boathouse Farms drinks, Pom beverages, and Naked juices. They have goat cheese with blueberries, and with cinnamon that both have great reviews from other shoppers. They also have a liquor section that’s comprised mostly of wines and beer and maybe one newcomer cider that I’ve still yet to try. They have household goods, paper products, a baked goods section, a sizable freezer section, and 1 of the walls is lined with a refrigerated section for milk, cheese, meats, etc. oh, and they’re a «brother» store of Trader Joe’s Basically, you need to shop here lol

No frills, low dollar bills. That’s their slogan, right? Well if not, it SHOULD be. Only one or two registers open at any given time, but their cashiers are the fastest this side of the Pecos and can clear a huge line in no time flat. The products(especially staple items like cheese and milk) are so much cheaper than other supermarkets. An example is calcium added OJ. The cheapest I have found it elsewhere(on sale) is around $ 2.00. Here, it is $ 1.69 all the time. If you haven’t been in a while, it’s time to go back. Their produce used to be limited and half rotten. Now it is fresh and there’s a good selection. Their cheese are no longer limited to cheddar and American — they have Swiss, blue, feta, cream cheese, Mexican style, just to name a few. Make sure to hit their random stuff aisle, where you might find kids toys, kitchen equipment, and gym bags. You just never know what you will find. If you haven’t been here before, they save money by carrying only their own generic brands, not advertising, not providing bags or baggers, and not having cart collectors. This means the following for you: — bring a quarter if you want to rent a shopping cart, and be sure to return it to get your quarter back — bring your own grocery bags or plan to pay to buy them there(or snag a cardboard box as you are shopping) — be ready to bag your own groceries on the ledge after cashing out(just like the Germans! Don’t you feel exotic?)

Aldi is a GREAT place to get almost all your food staples. Their store brands are actually quite good. Produce is much better than most stores. Shopping is done quite quickly because there aren’t 1001 different cereal & salad dressing choices. More isn’t always better in my opinion. Aldi also carries other products which vary/aren’t always available. Anything from large wall clocks, vinyl floor tile & throw pillows to jumper cables, tool sets & snow shovels. They have sales & discounted items as well. I’ve been an Aldi shopper for several years & don’t understand the nay-sayers. So you bag you’re own groceries. I like that because then I know where the items are & don’t possibly have a well-meaning but slightly inept person putting my bag of flour in with my frozen peas(a wet bag of flour is never good). They are actually thankful if you use empty boxes because they won’t have to dispose of them later.(I’ve yet to have a cardboard box rip because I put 3 cans of tomato juice into it unlike the plastic bags at other stores.). As for the quarter cart rental(which is basically what it is) you get it back so why all the fuss? Haven’t seen an Aldi yet with a shopping cart in the lot. Many shoppers will give their cart to someone entering because seriously… it’s just a quarter for heaven’s sake!

Don’t be a sheep and shop at the trendy grocery stores for basic groceries. Aldi may not be glamorous, but it’s structured to benefit the customer. It’s just not handed to you on a silver platter. The difference is in your wallet. Aldi is one of the few chains that I whole-heartedly support. Origins based in Germany, the unusual style of grocery shopping is the norm for a lot of Europe. In England, the grocery store makes you insert a pound for a cart — £1 is about $ 1.50. Aldi only wants a quarter from us! By cutting down on Americanized shopping tactics, they’ve eliminated costs to keep the price of products low for YOU. They don’t take credit cards to cut down on credit card fees. They package all their foods in-house. And they make you pay for the cart to save money on expensive replacements. All in an effort to save YOU even more money! I pretty much love it here. Shelves are always stocked. You’re in and out quickly. Employees and customers are friendly, mostly. If Aldi doesn’t have something I need, I will begrudgingly go to Kroger. Otherwise, I confine most of my shopping to what Aldi has in stock, which is more than you’d think. You just have to bag the stuff. That’s a heck of a deal.

Low prices, great produce, small selection. The complaints I hear from people used to the way ‘all the other grocery stores work’ must not be hurting for money like I am! If you think about it… paying people to clear the parking lot, to bag your food, to have free paper/plastic sacks… this stuff adds up. It really does. You get your quarter back. You can bring in your own bags and help cut down on plastic/paper use. Aldi’s is now owned by Trader Joe’s, if that tells you anything… great quality, even better value.

ALDI got a bad reputation a long time ago for poor quality, but they have overcome it. The major reason to shop their store is LOWPRICES. They don’t have huge selection, and it’s just about all generic, or brands you’ve never heard of. But I recently bought a 3 pound bag of apples for $ 1.39. A 3 pound bag of oranges for $ 1.49. Ground LEAN turkey(93% lean!!) for $ 2.08/pound. Peeled baby carrots for $.49 for a 1 pound bag. 85% lean frozen ground turkey for $ 1.19/pound. Really good salsa, Casa Mamita brand, for $ 1.79 for a 1.5 pound jar. These prices beat GFS all to heck. They do nickel and dime you. $.25 deposit on a shopping cart.(Putting a quarter in unlocks it. Lock it back in the rack, and you get your quarter back.) $.06 for a paper grocery bag. $.10 for a big hefty plasic one. Free boxes when available. But those are small prices to pay for the huge savings. The store was clean too. If you’re a Wal-Mart, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Big Lots shopper like me, I think you’ll like ALDI. Check their web site, for locations around Indianapolis. Not all the stores are in the online Yellow Pages. They accept debit cards but not credit cards. This store is in a nice neighborhood, just south of Lowe’s, just north of Dollar General.
