This is my go to restaurant for family celebrations. After proposing to my fiancé back in April we had dinner here, and more recently celebrated Father’s Day at this location. The food was great and our server Trevor was amazing. He was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The next time we come I will request to sit in his section.

Came here with a party of 20 to do photos for a wedding dinner. We had a private room, which was secluded, yet had a nice view and felt very spacious and open. Our waitress was a cool, bohemian girl who managed to get everyone’s order correctly. The shrimp tacos were so delicious, and the buffalo chicken wrap was perfectly spicy. I got to taste a little of everyone’s food, and everything was great, down to the sweet potato fries and horseradish sauce. I really loved the service, as well as the atmosphere, and I hope to return sometime soon with my husband, who has never been before. Although I imagine they get packed and crowded some nights, the location is superb and ideal for a much needed night on the town.

I’ve had lunch at Granite City for work functions four times in the past two weeks. * Spicy chicken sandwich: messy, runny, not spicy. * Chicken wrap: bland, unseasoned. * Pepperoni flatbread: very flat, oily, no texture. * «Bedda Chedda» burger: cooked well done(not medium), stale bun. The food here is really disappointing. The service is apathetic. You know the staff knows there’s a problem too when they avoid asking«how was everything?» They already know: it isn’t good.

Bad service from beginning to bitter end. We had reservations for 7pm on Saturday night for 4 and were seated on time. The French onion soup was so salty it was inedible. Heather, our apparition of a waitress, brought out only one of three entrees saying the others were coming. 15 minutes later the other two entrees come out… cold to the touch. Our friends sent back their meals untouched, save the first cold bites. Heather’s excuse was that«this has been happening all night, not sure what’s going on in the kitchen.» The manager came out and apologized and comped our friends’ meals under the impression that they ate said cold meals. Over 30 minutes later we see the manager again(are you wondering where Heather was? We were too.) and we asked how much longer for the warm meals? He realized his error and quickly had the kitchen prepare the meals. Later the manager offered free dessert for the trouble, which was counted with a free glass of wine instead. Heather finally meandered over with the bill and we were overcharged $ 60! Are we being Punk’d? Seriously, Ashton, come on out already!!! Another 10 minutes went by until we got the right bill. We were finally liberated at 9:30pm! No sense of urgency and no sense of personal responsibility as a wait staff. Very disappointing.

Always superb. Rest Rooms a little tacky late Sat pm. Great service & food. Some waiters take orders by memory. Impressive

Met a friend here for lunch the other day. We got there a little before noon and they were already packed. Service was friendly but seemed a little slow for a lunch hour. They now have lunch combo menu so I ordered the chicken avocado wrap and the Asian salad. That salad is one of my favorites and I should have just ordered the full size. The wrap was very bland. It was really dry and we both requested the chipotle ranch dressing to dip.

Mixed bag in this location. The Black and Tan beer mix was very good although the bartender either did not know how or was too lazy to pour the beers properly using a spoon to keep the beers somewhat separated in the glass. The fish tacos were decent, the cheese soup good but the disaster was the Asian Salad. I love Asian salads, I ate three last week at three locations and two were very good. The offering at Granite city was simply a big glop… and glop is the right word of rough cut WAAY over dressed room-temperature cole slaw mixed with a very small portion of thinly sliced apparently boiled chicken breast, topped with some bland peanut sauce and rice noodles. i would have sent it back but the server who was eating her own dinner across the empty restaurant never came back to ask about our food. I truly would expect more from a packaged salad at McDonalds. Three stars is generous and due to the good although poorly poured beer.

We went at lunch. Great service and food… A good veggie wrap for vegetarians. Good beer. I had the bacon flatbread. So good and different.

The Sunday brunch is top notch but be prepared to wait for a table. Great mimosas for $ 6(with $ 1 refills). Made to order omelets, prime rib, ham, eggs benedict, and hot caramel rolls… can we say YUM! Everything was delicious — fresh fruit, bacon and sausage, cheesey hashbrown potatoes, waffles with strawberry compote. Don’t miss this!

Ambiance. 5 stars. Romantic lighting, plenty of rough-hewn stone details. Gluten free menu. 4+ stars. Decent selection of choices for those who are GF including a couple each of appetizers and salads, four steak options, and several burger options. Bruschetta salad $ 12.95. 4 stars. Crunchy, toasted ciabatta bread crisps on top of lettuce, tomato, cheese and balsamic dressing. Full rack ribs $ 21.95. 4 stars. Juicy, flavorful, and fairly reasonable serving for the price. Service. 2 stars. I was in a party of 15 and called ahead to ensure that they could accommodate our party which they did. We were seated right away. However, the service was such that I would probably not recommend coming here with a large group. Not sure what the staffing situation was during our visit but it was difficult to get the attention of a server, any server when water glasses needed refills. Overall, it was positively okay and I would probably return to see if it was just an off night for service, but necessarily go out of my way to do so. Definitely not if I wanted to bring a large group though.

We come here often for Work events and usually have a good experience. This most recent time was no exception. Service was good and quick, and the food was delicious. We ordered a few plates for the table and I highly recommend their BBQ chicken pizza –it’s delicious! A huge portion too, plenty to get the party started in a large group of people. Beer wise, I love their dark stout. Don’t be afraid to ask for a sample, they are totally willing to let you try a couple until you find the one you want. Lots of dinner choices-such as burgers, pastas, and steaks. I had a plain old cheeseburger last time and it was cooked decently, but it didn’t feel special at all. Almost like it had been previously frozen. I don’t know that for sure though. Pasta options are great. Service is great. This is a great place, worth trying.

Loved the buffet, very tasty, perfect temperatures, wonderful variety, nice people. For $ 15.95/person, you can have all you want of everything delicious, from bacon and sausage, to French toast and pancakes, salad and pasta, all kinds of fresh fruit, grilled salmon, mashed potatoes, gooey caramel rolls, prime rib, an omelette station and even a dessert bar! Drinks like coffee, juice and soda are extra. This was going to be a 5 star review but the manager was very rude to his employees and then the employees were rushing people to leave so they could finally seat people waiting. We were asked if we were done and leaving after less than 20 minutes. If the manager was nicer and didn’t lay his hands on staff, staff would probably not be in such a nervous rush to get people out. Disappointing to see…

There is a severe lack of atmosphere at Granite City. To be honest, we only came here to meet my fiancé’s parents for a drink(they figured this was a happy medium between the beer bars that we like and the more restaurant/cocktail type places that they like). I ordered their Scotch Ale and it was just OK. We also had an order of their pretzel sticks which were also OK. The whole place was nearly empty when we arrived(around 10:30PM on a Saturday night) which added to the weirdness of the experience. I would definitely not come back here, not to lack of service but just general boredom and lack of excitement.

Although I typically really like the food here, my most recent experience was not very good. I had the pasta with andouille sausage and chicken, it was subpar. First, it was cold. I did send it back, not sure if it was microwaved or reheated stove top but due to the reapplication of heat the pasta became mushy. Had I not been at a work dinner, I would have sent it back again. Although the food wasn’t great, I probably would not be writing a review if it were not for the person who was in the bar area soliciting patrons for 85 cents, no explanation was given. He approached our table while we were working and We were so shocked that we did not even respond. He then moved to the next table and someone did provide him with a dollar. He left the area and not 15 minutes later was again asking people for money. There is no way the the bartender could have issued this but nothing was said. Again, I would have found a manager but none was to be found.

Stopped in for lunch and tried the Oscar burger.(crab meat, asparagus, havarti cheese) I ordered the burger medium and it was cooked to perfection. The burger was very tasty, but in my opinion it should be served as an open faced sandwich. The fries were just kinda mediocre. They were kind of limp like they had been kept under a warming lamp too long. For dessert I tried the crème brûlée. It was simply okay. It really need some more vanilla. The sweetness level and texture were great, but just a bit bland. The highlight of the visit was my server, Caesar. He was attentive and despite my constant need more tea, he was able to keep up. I never had an empty glass. When you speak to Caesar, he seems to give you his undivided attention and seems to have a great attention to detail. The manager Bryan, stopped by my table to apologize for the fries and to listen to my constructive criticism of the food. Overall, despite the minor issues with the food, it was a pretty good visit.

Great Sunday brunch buffet. There is a wide variety of fresh and well made foods, including traditional breakfast foods, and others, such as potatoes & gravy, salads. There were 6 of us in the party and everyone was full and very satisfied at the end of the meal. The price was very fair for such a big meal. For lunch or dinner, I highly recommend the Asian Chick salad.

Quickie Review: Should you stay or should you go? STAY. Stay far away. Came here for Sunday brunch and it was a horrible experience from start to finish. To pay $ 17 a piece for their brunch buffet was basically robbery as all we were able to get was a few fruit, eggs, and bread. They didn’t even bother to refill anything else they ran out of and any other option was basically inedible. I observed the guy making omelets and he obviously had no clue what he was doing. If I can make better food at home than a restaurant than there’s a problem. In regards to our waitress she paid zero attention to us and instead spent all her time talking to the table next to us. Is it really that hard to get one refill of water? I like to try new things, but GC has definitely made me think twice in the future.

Been sick with food positioning from here. Along with 14 others from our party. Stay away until they get this cleaned up! Update: After being tested it was determined that our party was sick with Norovirus which has similar symptoms to food poisoning and is highly contagious.

Just came here for brunch. Had not been in a long time. Looks like the quality has diminished. Went back 3x for the potato casserole. It was never filled. Mashed potatoes were clumpy and cold. not sure what happened to the gravy. It looked horrible. The prime rib was not that flavorful. I liked the salad with the avocado, peppers, etc. Even then Though, you had to search for an avocado. The bacon was good and plentiful. The biscuit gravy wasn’t the chorizo gravy I was used to but it was still pretty good. The eggs Benedict was good but hollandaise sauce broke but not sure you can do anything about that. It was probably more like a 2.5. We probably won’t go back for awhile.

Brunch time: We should have gone to Matt the Miller. When we first arrived more then half the items were empty at 1145am. Starting with the food. Pancakes horrible, french toast mediocre, bacon fatty and not cooked enough, biscuits frozen from a bag, gravy gross, cinnamon rolls way over cooked hard on top burnt on bottom, Eggs Benedict hollandaise sauce had separated, over all not great to say the least. Maybe we hit it on a bad day. We like the normal dinner menu we won’t be back for brunch. Service was very good from our server. Bartender could have kept herself busy and not been standing reading the newspaper.
