Great service, good food. Came here with a small group and we had the meat and cheese plates(fun) and our own entrees(varied). Very reasonable price. Has to be one of the top places in town.

Great food and great service! Neat little history, once was a hardware store that has now been converted. Good selection of local wine, beer, cheeses and meat. perfect stop for lunch!

Great place to eat in between wine tastings! I’ve been here a couple times and each time the food has been well-prepared and delicious. The Brie appetizer is too die for and the ham sandwich is always a good choice as well… but, really, you can’t go wrong with anything in the menu! The only reason I don’t give it five stars is because the service COULD be a notch higher. For example, the last time I was there I had to ask for lemon twice and still never got it.

So… It’s a true delight. Simply put, it’s a wonderful spot with excellent execution. The staff is cordial and warm. I’ve been here twice and both times were of equal value experience wise. The food is exceptional! Let me emphasis that this is not a place to find a large selection on the menu. That’s having been said, what is on the menu is perfectly balanced and suited to the atmosphere. The atmosphere by the way is simply perfect. Go here!

This place was recommended by a winery and it was such a great find. The food is so fresh and delicious. Had a red pepper soup, Italian sandwich on grilled focaccia bread and a ham sandwich with fig jam and brie that was to die for. Excellent service too!

What a delightful find! Amazing sandwiches on focaccia bread. The roast beef was wonderful & the blt with a side of horseradish honey mustard is crazy good! Really comfortable environment & a wine bar in the back; what could be better?!

Someone recommended this place to us because we wanted to find some picnic food. The lady at the front cash register was so nice and passionate about helping us find the perfect things to eat. We got the pastrami sandwich which was probably the best sandwich I have ever tasted in my life! We also got a cheese plate and the butterscotch oatmeal cookie. Everything was delicious!

We had the most incredible opportunity to meet Ken Wright and listen to him speak on wine making. Afterwards, we went to the Horseradish for lunch while tasting his wines and it was fantastic! I had the veggie panini and all I can say is that vegetarian sandwich may have been the best sandwich I’ve had in my life. It was stacked with avocado, hummus, the juiciest tomatoes, creamiest chèvre, and pickled onions. Perfection!

Yum! Great food! My husband and I shared the salmon dip with a warm baguette and I had a veggie sandwich with salad and he had the pastrami. Mine was delicious and fresh! He loved his sandwich. Service was great as well. We will return here for lunch another time!

Ahhhhhhhhh what a fun stop after a super day! We sat on the patio which offered a view of a parking lot which at first was odd but ended up not mattering much at all. We got wine and built our own cheese plate. Did someone say seasonal brie?! SIGNMEUP!!! Cheese, I mean really you just can’t go wrong. I think I am part mouse. It was wonderful. The service was good and speedy and the wine selection was on point. I can’t help but throw some 5 star love at this adorable little place. I will definitely be back for more!!!

Seriously though, 5 stars. Enough said. I get the roast beef sandwich with pickled onions, blue cheese, and horseradish sauce. It’s by far the best sandwich I’ve ever had. I wish it was closer because it’s out here kind of in the middle of nowhere. Well worth the drive though!

Tucked away in the Oregon wine country is a wonderful lunch spot in Carlton, The Horse Radish. We visited a year ago and have thought of the pastrami ever since. We drove 60 minutes to relive the experience. We were not let down. The pastrami on focaccia is a savory sandwich second to none. My wife had the red pepper soup and enjoyed it very much. The menu is simple and built for lunch. It is out of the way but well worth the drive. We look forward to our next visit.

This was our first visit to the horse radish and all we can say is WOWZA! We had one ham and cheese sandwich with the fig sauce and one without. Both were excellent. The quiche served with bacon was delicious! The salad was very fresh and the bleu cheese dressing was amazing. THEN we had dessert. Oh my god. The chocolate cake — superb. The cheese cake was very good and the crem Brule was also delicious. But the chocolate cake… :) :) I ordered a decaf with cream to balance out the dessert. It came in a French press and was excellent. Made 2 full cups. The whole experience was nothing but GREAT and we will definitely be going back! I wouldn’t say the menu is geared towards kids which is fine. There was a baby there and he was very happy and very well attended by his parents. Actually there was a TV but happily the volume was either off or very low. Gotta love Unilocal cuz that’s how we found this place.

Great little place, awesome sandwiches & small wine list. For a town the size are Carlton, it is great to find such good food & service!

Love this spot right in downtown Carlton when wine tasting in the area. The food and service is consistently excellent and they are conveniently located close to many tasting rooms. The sandwiches are always my go to choice here. That’s saying something from someone who isn’t a big sandwich eater, but they are fantastic here! You can’t go wrong with their salads or soups either. And if you haven’t had enough wine or aren’t tasting that day(shame on you) they have a great selection of local wines and beers on the menu as well!

Good prices, cool vibe, great sandwiches made EXACTLY how you prefer to have them made. Meat eaters, non meat eaters, vegetarians, vegans… come try Horse Radish. You’ll love it.

In our travels through the Willamette Valley, this sandwich shop rivals some of the«so-called» best of Portland with a varied selection of fine wines, gourmet cheeses, and artisan sandwiches. Not only did we enjoy a hand selected plate of fresh cheese and meats, but every sandwich at the table was filling and delicious. A very pleasant surprise after a recommendation from Winemakers, a local vineyard.

Oh Carlton, you are a delight. Options for lunch in this *literally* one street town are quite limited, but at least I know one of the(I think) three options for lunch is a winner. Both the wine and beer list are pretty incredible for such an unassuming little place. JAM and I each tried a different local beer(both of which are escaping me) that hit the spot. You can make custom cheese/charcuterie plates, which I will definitely try on my next visit. But after having started tasting early and in desperate need of some serious food, we opted for slightly more satisfying fare. The veggie sandwich was quite good. We split the sandwich and also got a cup of their potato soup. It was served with a side of potato chips, which sounds like overkill(and it is) but the cannibal in me loves dipping chips in some potato soup. Service here is attentive but not invasive. The atmosphere is very laid-back and welcoming. Highly recommend if you need a bite while near Carlton!
