Great experience! I went into the Carlsbad location today. Kristina with a K and Annie like the orphan were extremely helpful not to mention they were hilarious! They helped me pick out some really cool stuff! They were very friendly and welcoming. This place is rad! I definitely recommend going in and checking it out!

Walking around downtown shopping on my day off with my boyfriend. We had never been to the den before and we will never go back hands down one of the most awkward shopping experiences of all time. When we first walked in I was ignored all together while a over excited girl with long blonde hair started to ask my boyfriend extremely personal questions like where he worked and where we lived etc. A couple of minutes later he was then approached by another girl with short brown hair who was trying to model mens t-​shirts against her tim burton like body in a very seductive and sexual manner. At one point my boyfriend was physically cornered in the back corner of there den by these two succubus. Extremely uncomfortable is an understatement we both were very unhappy with how I was ignored completely, and these two insecure girls acting quite inappropriately towards my boyfriend. I was unimpressed with their lack of customer service and overall unwanted advances towards my boyfriend. Rude. Overpriced. Awkward.

I agree with several previous reviews, the owner (Mary) and her staff have created a store with a very cool vibe. We just stumbled onto this place and glad we did. Awesome selection of clothes and even thought I am not much for shopping or fashion, Socorro and the rest of the team made me feel right at home. They even brought me a superb amber lager while I was trying stuff on!
My wife and I had a great time and we highly recommend checking Mary’s place out. I ended up getting a great pair of Hudson jeans, shirt and a pair of Electric shades. Thanks ladies!

Very helpful, friendly staff who actually wear the clothes they are selling in the store. Expensive, I can’t afford it, and made for thinner girls. Fun to look at the styles they are selling though!

The Den is in a class by itself in Carlsbad (and would be anywhere), it is a rare gem of a boutique with a very talented, creative owner and buyer. The minute you walk in, you can tell it’s different from the surf shops around, the décor is cool, relaxed, hip and clean. This unisex shop carries unique pieces from top quality brands that range from casual to sophisticated. Whether you need a new pair of denim shorts or a dress for a wedding; they’ve got it.
The staff is extremely helpful and happy to make suggestions; without being pushy. Socorro is an amazing «personal shopper» and has picked out things that looked better on me than what I chose for myself!
I am a pretty experienced shopper so trust me when I say this place is special.

Bottom line, I don’t shop for my clothes any where else. The Den has an excellent varitey to choose from in all price ranges from some of the best designers out there and the staff goes out of there way to make you look and feel great. With brands like Hudson, Affliction, Aqua, 7 Diamonds, Howe & Obey, just to name a few, how can you go wrong. With the limited runs these designers have you’re guaranteed to be unique. I’ve shopped at The Den enough that they know me & what I’ve purchased in the past. It helps with any new item I’m looking at and what it would also go with based on past purchases, how’s that for cutomer service & believe me it really helps when picking something out. So whether you’re looking for a unique one time experience or a regular like me The Den will have you looking and feeling your best.

This place is pretentious, overpriced, and really, the clothing is not anything fantastic. The sales people made me feel unwelcome, the clothes were behind the trends, not as cutting edge as they would like you to think. If you want to pay too much for clothes that are already behind the times, and be treated poorly in the process, go ahead and shop there. Otherwise, take that nice ride up to OC or LA if you’re really looking for the kind of fashion The Den claims to carry.

I can’t say that I have bought anything at the store yet but I will as soon as more of the new lines come in. I had been searching for a store in the area that carries Affliction, Monarchy, Roar, and a few other brands and I think I have found the store. The store is small but I think it is adequate for the market in the area. When I went in, I knew that when I go back in I will be able to get a personal shopping experience, in which I will probably end up buying way too many things.

So there has been alot of new development in the Carlsbad/​La Costa area and it seems the new hip trend is to build apartments/​condos with retail space below it. Well that is where the den is, under some nice, new condos on Carlsbad Blvd.
Surfer meets fashionista is the best way to describe this unique lil shop!
It is well merchandised with great brands such as: Sky, J Brand, LA Made, Honeydew, Hudson, Obey and so on!
You can find something for everyone there; mens, womens and kids!
