Absofreakinglutely As good as it gets! This place is coffee house perfection. Every detail is high end and tasteful, and it feels wonderful being in there. The owner roaster is usually on hand doing his thing — but he always has time to talk to customers and cheerfully answer questions, and there are Many happy, friendly employees to help you. Plus, I know its a coffee house, but the FOOD — omg. So insanely delicious and reasonable for what it is — High Quality. I know what I speak of because luckily for me I work in the same complex(somewhat unlucky for my wallet and waistline, but still), so this is my Regular, Normal experience. Can’t say enough. Go. Oh, and they have the requisite WiFi of course, and welcome business group meetings — they gave gorgeous large tables(think custom crafted wood slice slabs gorgeously finished) and a little nook perfect for a pow wow. Go.(Sidenote: They do not know I posted this or ask me to).

This is seriously some of the best coffee I have ever had. There’s a Starbucks right down the block but I would choose this place over Starbucks any day. They’re Turkish Hazelnut coffee is hands down the best cup of coffee I’ve ever had. Friendly staff and comfy chair. Right by the beach. You just can’t beat this place.

Wow, seriously the worst americano I have ever had. The only flavor is BITTER. Cannot believe I paid for this. Beautiful day at the beach made bitter by our americanos.

I love their coffee and the atmosphere. Nice selection of goodies. Rhett is very warm and personable. The only reason they didn’t get 5 stars is they don’t have wi fi but they told me they will be getting it soon. I go there often, I wish they had a frequent buyer card. But the coffee is very good. I don’t care for Starbucks, and they are better than Panera.

Cozy coffee house, great drinks and customer service. I like the fireplace and the music, gives a homey feeling. Wifi is available now and open to public. Great spot to get some work done.

Do not come here if you need a quick cup! It took an inordinate amount of time to get our two lattes, but we are on vacation, so while it was annoying to sit with our pastries and wait for the coffee to go with it, we survived. The place is warm and inviting. The gentleman who took our order was friendly and helpful. The 16 oz. latte has two shots so I opted for another as I like my coffee strong. I’m glad I got the extra shot. The latte was good! The pastries are above average for a coffee shop. I’m glad I didn’t let the 3 star rating on here keep me from trying this place.

I go to this café often as they have a good coffee, comfortable seats and a pleasant vibe. Why the one-star then? Easy. Because they have some of the most lazy baristas I have ever seen! I don’t demand perfection, but on multiple occasions I had to walk up to the Barista’s and remind them that I was still waiting on my order. This would be kinda understandable if they were slammed with orders, with mine«falling through» so to speak. But in every incident there was no crowd or rush; they were just that lazy and/or unprofessional. The one exception to this lethargic incompetence is the one Blonde-haired woman who is the only reliable person there; so kudos are due for her. As mentioned by others, this place lacks WiFi, which I find very weird; are they trying to limit their operating costs? Not sure but it does suck as they used to offer it. This place has so much potential, but the owner needs to stop the Tantric pot-smoking and realize that the people they have manning the café are sucking at their job. Get rid of the mouth-breathing troglodytes and get some responsible people behind the counter!

Always on the lookout for a great coffee place, this is the best one i have come across in North County! Loved the service, the location itself is simple, but very clean, cozy with plenty of seating. Loved the people working here, so friendly and helpful, really made it for an enjoyable stop before a long day ahead. Their menu is extensive and had it not been early morning I would have gone for one of their blended specialties, so many sound amazing, i cannot wait to get to return and try more next time! For now we went with hot mocha for myself and a hot white mocha for my husband, both excellent quality chocolate as well as coffee, perfect balance of flavors, perfectly brewed, loved every sip. Prices are fair, they have several sizes available, drinks are made quickly and can be modified however you like them. Very well worth a stop, I’ll be back asap!

Cozy coffeehouse that has delicious concoctions of espresso, tea, hot chocolate, fraps, etc. I was looking for a place to go on a coffee run and was pleasantly surprised when I found Carlsbad CofeeHouse. They have so many appetizing choices and it’s fun to try a new drink every time I go and the never disappoint. They don’t just use a syrup for flavoring — when I got the iced coconut latte there was real coconut shavings in there, and when I got the toffee mocha there was also toffee crumbles on top. I love the fireplace the ambience of the place, and it’s a shame that they are getting lowered reviews because if no WiFi. They are a coffee shop, not a Starbucks. Lastly, their desserts are yummy as well and the staff is helpful and friendly. Definitely one of my favorite spots.

It’s hard to go 4 star when I waited an eternity for the barista? To make my latte as she told the other employee about her hike and blah blah! And my soy latte tastes like there was no shot it it, may have been forgotten in the conversation! But the person who took my order was super nice. Maybe I’ll try again! Clean nice atmosphere, good location.

My everything bagel was delicious. And the fresh brew wasn’t bad. BUT… This coffee house doesn’t have wifi??? This is an unforgivable sin in these modern times. I feel like there should be a huge sign on the door, saying, «Freelancers unwelcome! Take your self-employed arse elsewhere.»

Just moved in the area so when my friend and I went to the beach we noticed this spot conveniently located on a corner. We walked in to a pleasant«Coffee Bean» looking environment. I liked the gas fireplace and seating arrangement. The barista was really nice however the drinks were not. I ordered a Tamarack Turkish Hazelnut latte(always order a house’s special) and it tasted watery and as if it had coffee mate creamer in it. And was pricey. 5.35 for medium plus an extra charge for whip. Came in a to-go-cup even though we ordered the pastry for here. My friend got an Americano and it tasted like weak coffee. Watery as well. The almond croissant was ok. Not super fresh though. There was some local surfers who stopped in and had small talk with some of the older folk there. I thought that was charming but will not return myself.

In the heart of downtown Carlsbad is a quiet coffee house with some of the smoothest coffee you’ve tasted. I’m not sure what beans they use but it’s delicious. Ample seating inside as well.

Bit disappointing to find the cashier didn’t know the least acidic coffee the shop provided. She seemed to think that acidic was related to caffeine content. Cashier also didn’t know that the crème brûlée bar was actually a cheesecake with a crème brûlée taste. Coffee was cold in the self serve area. Disappointing.

I have a friend who loves the ambiance of this place & doesn’t care about being denied Wi-Fi. The ONLY time I will ever go here, is if invited by her. First of all, as others mentioned, there does seem to be a pretty unfriendly attitude. Oh, did I mention… no wi-fi? what the??? Get in your car, turn around & go to Vinaka’s. Friendly baristas, delish pastries, & Free Wi-Fi! You can sit inside, in a kinda funky vibe in a good way or little tables outside surrounded by beautiful trees… and…FREEWI-FI!

Good coffee, and nice pastries and desserts. I was a little disappointed that they didn’t have wifi, and would probably spend a few hours some mornings working from there if they did — I guess they want to avoid having a room full of people working from there. It is a nice place to meet someone, which I need because I work from home, and sometimes business meetings are necessary.

I used to come here when it was called It’s A Grind,(perhaps under new ownership?) I was concerned at first that the coffee beverages would taste different, but the quality and flavor(and ingredients) have stayed the same, and the baristas are super consistent in their drink making, so I’m very happy about that. :) I go about once a week,(never with a laptop, I usually bring a sketchbook) however I got a new laptop earlier this year, so I was looking forward to bringing it to the café for a little bit and was told they didn’t have wifi,(even though they have a laptop bar) so that’s a bit of a disappointment. I’m glad they got rid of the velcroed votive candle doohickeys that discouraged laptop use on the regular tables. Outlet holes are covered up everywhere except the laptop bar, so be aware of that and make sure your laptop is charged and you won’t be needing internet. I do love the coffee and ambiance here. It would definitely be a 5 star review if wifi was available(hint hint :)) I was surprised and disappointed in the choice they made to completely eliminate wifi altogether. While good coffee and face-to-face conversation with others is a wonderful thing, going to a café is also the ultimate solitary pleasure. Your only company is a good book, or yes, even a laptop and internet cats, paired with a nice cup of something tasty, and you can’t ask for much more.

We’ve been going here for a couple years and love the high quality coffee, atmosphere and good conversation. Just heard tonight that ‘It’s A Grind’ is now transitioning to ‘Carlsbad Coffee House’. Bye, bye franchise, HELLO local coffeehouse! I’m excited to see where they’re going to take the business. I’m loving the new décor and coffees. The girls, especially, are very well educated in the ‘perfect pour’ and will explain why and how to use the pour-over cup. Coffee shouldn’t be brewed quick and hastily. Here, you can learn and TASTE why. I love it! Happy brewing Rhonda & Sam. .. Keep the kettle warm!
