I have been harassed by the owner and her fake profiles numerous times since I left a negative comment back in April 2014. It seems I am not the only one either, after looking at more reviews I have seen that she has abused other Unilocalers for their comments. The fact that she is contacting me almost a year later with comments like ‘the peroxide has gone to your head’ and to ‘Lipo’suk my brain’ is outrageous. Im embarrassed she’s an Australian, Ive certainly never met anyone like her at home.

I’ve never been to Australia, but I feel like the food is probably a little more tasty than this place. I found the food to be very bland. The burger we had was very dry and bread tasted stale. All of the food was pretty overpriced. Great location on State Street with some good shopping… But… Probably won’t go here again, sorry Australian Grill!

First, I want to give a quick shout out to my favorite waitress, Alexis. It’s always awesome when you go to a place and not only does the server remember you, but your favorite drink as well. My husband and I have been coming here for the past two years with our blue heeler Jax. When he came home from Afghanistan the owner, Stefanie, treated him like royalty and gave us a free teapot. She was so happy we came here for his first meal home. We absolutely adore her-shes a doll! We really love this place, it feels like our neighborhood spot. These people are wonderful and they go out of their way to make sure customers are taken care of. If there is something wrong or you need something, just ask! That is why we keep coming back, and will continue to give them our business. See you today at brunch!

I’m am Aussie and came here to have the meat pies. Looked at the reviews and seemed like a good place. I am not overly picky, however this was one of the worst meals I ever had. Our meals were not cooked however our wedges were burnt. I only thing good about the meal was the wine. Which was our second choice as they did not have our first choice in stock. They did not have fries for goodness sake! We ordered lamb, fish and chips, meat pies, potato wedges, grilled cheese sandwich(which came on a hamburger bun) Stay away!

Stopped in for a solo lunch and to use their wifi yesterday while apartment hunting. They have some interesting items on the menu that I would have loved to try, but I wasn’t that hungry. I asked the server for some suggestions and she recommended the burrata salad. A huge piece of burrata cheese with three large tomatoes drizzled with balsamic over greens — perfect. It was delicious and filling, a great suggestion. The server was excellent. She was friendly and made me feel comfortable, insisting that I take my time while using my computer. The place has outdoor seating in the front and a back patio. Indoor seating area is smaller with a few tables but really cozy. I enjoyed my stop here and will be back to try some of the«Australian» menu items next time.

I had a great time here. My friend and I were looking for a place to have brunch. I always love checking out new brunch spots in my local area. The sweet hostess told us about the secret hidden back patio. I’m so glad she did! The back patio is super cute! It has Christmas lights all strung across it! And it is completely hidden from street view. It was full of people and I couldn’t see any of them from the street. I had no idea. So we started with the sausage roll. I have never been to Australia but ohhhh mAn it was tasty. A Seriously tender white wine cream marinated pork sausage filling wrapped in a flaky pastry and oven baked. Um I think I have fallen in love. I always had this perception that Aussie/British food would be HORRIBLE but it ended up. Being. AMAZING ! I think I never want to leave this place. I ended up with the goat chese panini, adding avocado. Super fresh ingredients! The bread was crispy and fresh and tasted very fresh. The goat cheese was sure creamy and sweet. Just a little sweet! And their home made pesto was PERFECT. My servers were two Australian girls, They were both super attentive and sweet. I felt so welcomed. I can’t wait to go back. I love new hidden brunch spots!

What an awesome place! So the other day my friend and I were looking for a new restaurant to obsess over for the next couple weeks and we found it. I’ve gone in twice and ordered delivery once in a week! Every time the food has been DELICIOUS. The service is always FRIENDLY and FAST. I wish every owner took some notes from Stefanie, she’s so involved and so much fun! No Reservoir Dogs speech for me when I go here! Everyone goes out of their way to make your experience PERFECT. My burger was cooked just like I asked, it was delivered quickly, both in the restaurant and home delivery. The wings were so FLAVORFUL. The atmosphere was a big part of the ENJOYABLE experience. Lots of laughing, lots of good noise, lots of smiles. The menu changes all the time, they are obviously very motivated to keep the experience new and exciting every time. I can’t say I’ve been to Australia, but there’s definitely something different about this place that isn’t normal for the area. It’s an authentic, fun, delicious and economical time!

Wow this place really impressed me. So first of all it is an expensive neighborhood. I had a HORRIBLE experience in this area trying to get happy hour But this place was fantastic!!! Firstly they have $ 2 draft beers during happy hour which is 4 –7 pm. Not sure if it is only week days or every day. Our server was Fran and she made sure we were very well taken care of. She convinced me to try the kangaroo steak and im so glad i did! This is the only place in the area to eat something interesting besides more mexican or italian so i am really grateful they are in the village. This is an awesome place! I have seen they have a bottomless mimosa brunch for $ 10 on sundays and i cant wait to try it!

I really enjoyed the food here! Amazing fish n’ chips but also I didn’t expect the food to be so classy. I’m so used to smaller portions, so I ordered the dinner Fish n’ Chips with 3 fish tenders. Huge! I wanted to finish it all, but couldn’t.

I LOVE this place. $ 2 drafts for happy hour? Unbeatable for the area. Such a great deal!!! And they have bottomless mimosas every day(except closed Monday) for just ten bucks. So awesome! I have been here so many times and get so trashed. Feel HORRIBLE in the morning the next day lol! I had the lam burger. So juicy and so succulent. I haven’t seen a lamb burger around this area this good. The burger party was juicy and delicious. Plenty of goat cheese… Mmmm! I loved the creaminess of the cheese when combined with the tender lamb patty Oh yeah. And try the chocolate port desert wine! They have some chocolate dessert wine port wine drink thing this is AWESOME! It went down smooth and really well after such a lovely meal. I recommend you sit in the back patio. It is hidden from the general public. A secret. Avoid the tourists and sit back here! And ask for FRAn. The best Aussie waitress ever! She hooked it up with $ 2 beers even before happy hour started. Shhhhh our little secret lol

$ 2 draft beers for happy hour? That is usually a good enough reason for me, especially since we got a seat on the front patio, right in front of the farmer’s market on Wednesdays. We came in just for drinks after shopping but ended up getting some appetisers. We started with the kangaroo satays with a red wine sauce. The pineapple and beers were a great addition too. I had more friends join so we ended up ordering a shepherds pie and the rack of Australian lamb. As an australian really enjoyed the lamb. Perfectly pink in the middle when I ordered medium rare, served with a roasted cauliflower purée(paleo win!). We shared a dessert — a lamington! One of my favourite Australian desserts! I do miss it so much, was really glad I could satisfy that craving. Love the service, everyone was so friendly. I told the manager I wish they had neenishes too!

The Kangaroo chili was good but not stand out. The beet salad was amazing and the beer was great. The cornbread was tasty, a tad under done but I admit I took it home. All in all a good meal. I’ll be back.

We ate«healthy»…and it rocked! I took my wife here for lunch and we each did The Beet Salad. It featured the freshest possible beets, goat cheese and greens and thoroughly hit the spot. We also did the broccoli soup which was interesting and tasty. But no better way to end the meal than with their delicious Side Of Cornbread. Out of this world.

1) Overpriced. 2) Food was pretty good, but not $ 30 good. 3) Décor doesn’t match the $ 20 – 30 a dish price. I was suffered major sticker shock from a place that looks like(quite literally) a hole in the wall. It reminded me of something you would find in New York City — not big enough to be called a restaurant, more a café/bistro size, but the prices were way over anything I expected with the décor and set up. The menu isn’t huge, but there is certainly a nice selection. It’s definitely the most expansive use of Kangaroo I’ve seen in the US. I went with the Shephard’s Pie, and while yummy, the carrots were still crunchy. I thought they were supposed to be a bit softer, but maybe this was intentional — I’m not sure. The prices were too high for me to consider coming back here again.

Wow great place! Not only was the food killer and I mean killer… the service was totally rad! I tipped the waitress over 25% she was so sweet! We started off with the kangaroo app which was pieces of kangaroo loin on a stick with pickled beets and pineapple. So nervous to try it but it was fabulous! I hate lamb and I was worried it might be gamey but it wasn’t at all. I got a Beef Burger, one of the best burgers I’ve had to date! My brother got the lamb burger, I tried a bite(it was terrible gamey but I do hate lamb so dont take my word for it). I took a shepards pie home to have for lunch the next day, because everyone in the restaurant was ordering it I knew it had to be good. I could only imagine what it tastes like fresh but the next day it was amazing! I can’t wait to go back!

I’ve been wanting to eat here for awhile now, just to try something new and I’m glad I did! My husband and I came in on Thursday night and were seated right away. Our server was prompt, attentive, and super friendly! I tried the Kale and Quinoa Salad and I absolutely loved it! It comes already marinated in a honey vinaigrette dressing and it was just the right amount and very flavorful. My husband got the Lamb Burger and he really enjoyed it. Instead of fries he got the Aussie Potato Wedges which were really good as well. Overall, it was a great experience and we will be coming back very soon to try some other things on their menu.(:

Went in last night. No one else was there, and every time I drive past it looks empty. But, they have a back patio I was unaware of. We checked that out, some people were out there, but for some reason BF wanted to sit inside. So we went back in, it’s thru kitchen which is weird, but brave, and makes me feel good about their commitment to cleanliness. Menu is kinda pricey. But we got the wedge fries app and the shoestring fries app. We were feeling potato-y! Both awesome. We got a lamb burger and a kangaroo burger. AMAZING. Both super delicious and worth the price. I’m not chancing a $ 32 surf n turf platter. The mid range stuff on menu will be what keeps people coming in. Our potato heaven starters were $ 5 each. Burgers were $ 10-$ 15 range. We subbed the beet and goat cheese salad bc the burgers came w fries, so since we didn’t want to double up we asked, and I was surprised we could get that fancy of a salad as a substitute. Was very very tasty. Everything we had was good. They need to know their audience and ditch some of the higher priced items. More people will go in for an amazing lamb burger than a high priced plate. $ 5 fosters on tap. And for $ 2 u can buy a beer for«the kitchen boy» which is fun :) I will most def be back. The food was all totally awesome. Needs a little ambiance of some sort and I don’t know what. But it’s caught between trying to be kinda fancy, and kinda casual. Pick one(casual…visit flying pig in Oceanside for a lesson on how to be casual and hip simultaneously).

I’m stuck at about a 2.5 stars for the Australia Grill. I’m rounding up because I think there’s great room for improvement and I’m a sucker for supporting small businesses. My mum and I came in last Thursday around 8 pm to try the food at Australian Grill. The décor is SUPER cute. It’s tiny inside with lots of fun lighting, and you have to walk through the kitchen to get out to the back patio. The patio was cute too with string lighting, a chalkboard painted(?) on the wall and little tables scattered around in close proximity to each other. I think I’m a little harsher in rating the Australian Grill because I am an Aussie and I know what good Aussie food is(supposed to be) like. Lamb is largely popular in Oz, so I was pleased to see it on the menu. We considered the Roo Burger but the last time I had ‘roo was back in year 2 in Sydney and I haven’t been able to stomach the thought of having it since. Such cute animals. Onto the food we did get… We each had a glass of white wine which was very smooth and went down easy ;) Mum and I ordered a veggie and a lamb burger to split(see photos). First off, the chips(fries) were incredible. My favorite fries to eat before coming here were at Islands, which have now been knocked down to second place. A big, big gold star for the Australian Grill! We were unfortunately really disappointed with the burgers. The veggie burger was okay — nothing particularly special but it was stuffed between the halves of a MASSIVE bun. Seriously. how much bread do you need?!! It was like 3 inches worth of bread on the top half of the bun and another 2 inch thick bottom bun. The lamb burger was saaaaaad :’(In Australia, the lamb burgers are thick and juicy. It’s a common delicacy and it’s an insult to have received such a sad burger. It was a very thin, wimpy piece of lamb, again stuffed inside a humongous bun, and although request medium, it was charred black on the outside and completely dried out. The goat cheese put in the burger was oozing out the sides and completely overpowering the already tiny piece of meat. There is so much potential here! I’m a firm believer in giving at least a second chances for businesses such as this, so I will probably be back. But the Australian Grill has to really step it up and live up to my country’s good rep for rustic, simple, «no frills» food with classic ingredients. I’m rooting for you guys!!!
