Never disappoints! Love there spinach salad(the house made bacon is to die for!) There steaks are amazing, I usually get my steak with the truffle butter or the shallots and red wine! Very tasteful. They bring popovers to your table before the meal. Try the s’mores or crème brûlée desserts. Will definitely come back especially for there bacon!

I had dinner at Argyle tonight with work colleagues and we could not have been happier with the meal. Alex was our server and he was exceptional. He was patient with us, joked with us, and was super attentive. I don’t think my water glass was ever not full. As for the food, it was perfect. I had the filet with blue cheese crust, Brussels sprouts and pear sorbet. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasons. The blue cheese crust was an amazing recommendation by Alex. I should mention I am gluten intolerant and the whole staff was accommodating. Gluten free bread was brought out for me and the staff was careful with giving me separate of anything that may be shared among the table. I was extremely impressed by that attention to detail. Alex had the chef come out and speak to us, which was an awesome touch. When one of my colleagues said she wanted the recipe for a few of the dishes, Alex was quick to ask her for her email address and gave it to the chef so he could email her. If you’re in Carlsbad looking for a great steak meal, definitely go to Argyle.

If you want delicious fine dining experience then you cant go wrong here. Expect to pay for quality and service, this restaurant at the golf course is off the main areas of Carlsbad tucked away in residential Aviara neighborhood. Patrons are mostly guests of Park Hyatt or the golf course. Its a good place to go for special occasions. There were three versions of prime cut steaks(priced accordingly) I could give a 5 as I think they should include one vege with the meal at the prices charged

The place is great, service is awesome. The steak was very tasty. Elegant presentation. We appreciated the chef coming out to say Hi and to make sure that we enjoyed the food. Great job Matt the server who was very good and patient with our picky kids.

I have just returned home from dinner at Argyle with my parents(They: 70’s, Me: 45) and I was fairly disappointed. I have eaten here before, several years ago, after a round of golf for lunch and beers. If I remember correctly, it was fine for that. For the price of the meal that we just had, I expect much better. I had the Wagyu Filet. I asked for it to be done very rare and after some discussion that I knew I was asking for cold in the middle, I said«Yes. Blue. Cold in the middle.» It came out about medium. Right now, if the chef is reading this, he might might be yelling at his screen: «Then send it back instead of throwing me under the bus on Unilocal!!» No, it was still good and I am not about to waste a $ 65 piece of Wagyu meat. But when it is ordered rare and it is warm and pink the whole way through, that is wrong. There are times when you build a rapport with your server and an incorrectly cooked steak can be mentioned and that is the end. Tonight was not that night. I felt more like I was being crop dusted than waited on. “. .. iseverythinggoodhere? great. .. « They hadn’t even put a table cloth on the table to make it nicer than a golf course lunch place. Was the food good? Yes. Worth the money and special? Not at all.

My family and I went here for Thanksgiving. The Thanksgiving menu enticed us and it was the first year we decided not to cook a Thanksgiving meal and eat out for once. We were disappointed. The popovers were excellent but the rest of the meal was sub par.

Totally disappointed. Took the family out for early Thanksgiving dinner and it was a total disappointment. Turkey and stuffing supper dry. Everything else sub expectations. Total waste of money.

For my brothers birthday we enjoyed a truly incredible dining experience. Everything we ordered was perfect and or exceeded expectations. Blane was incredibly knowledgeable and was fabulous at handling all of our special requests. Every part of our meal was exquisite and the service was beyond measure. Nothing I can say in this review will do this restaurant justice. You must come and experience it for yourself. We will be back.

Well, I’m very sad to leave a low review for this beautiful restaurant because the ambience and service was excellent. We ordered the bone in ribeye at the recommendation of one of the staff at the hotel. It looked so delicious when it was brought to our table but it just fell short for some reason. Maybe it was the seasoning or maybe it was the quality of the meat? Not sure, but this is the first time that we’ve ever not enjoy a ribeye. Instead of bread, they bring you popovers, which is like an airy bread/pastry. That was really interesting. They also bring you smoked salt and regular sea salt. The best way to describe the smoked salt is to imagine you were eating a bonfire. Yup, it really captured the smokey essence. We also ordered the lobster tacos, lobster mac n cheese, golden trumpet mushrooms. These sides were«ok». I think the best thing of the night was the«My Favorite Chocolate Cake» that came with vanilla bean sauce, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and chantilly whipped cream. That was a good ending to our dinner. Tip: request seating outside if you prefer a more peaceful dinner. The acoustics inside was very loud with all the other patrons dining.

When we are looking for a great place for a special upscale lunch, we often come here. It’s location is on a golf course and the décor is very nice and relaxed. Food is good as is service generally, at least during day. Went tonight for light dinner at bar and while the ambiance is great, the service has certainly slipped. Not well organized. Bummer.

Good service. Bone-in prime steak a bit heavy on the seasoning, cooked to perfection. Very juicy and flavorful.

This place is way over priced for the quality and service. Typical hotel restaurant trying to be cool. If you want a good San Diego steakhouse, go to Donavans! I will never understand why people give good reviews to a place because it’s in a fancy hotel.

Whenever I’m eating solo, I general prefer to sit at the bar because you know you’re going to get good service, and usually some friendly chit chat, depending on how busy the bartender is. Even tho this is listed as Argyle Steakhouse, this restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Food: the American breakfast was really good, with pretty much everything that a hungry golfer could want. I liked the way the bread was served, too. This place is way too fancy for English muffins on a plate with jellies in the peel back plastic containers. No no no. You get your bread in a basket, kept warm by a napkin, butter in a ramekin & jellies in those teeny tiny single serve glass jars, just like Vegas. Forgot to mention that my plate was also very warm to the touch, keeping my good nice & warm. My bartender asked lots of thoughtful questions. «How much time do you have?»(In case you are in a hurry & are due on the tee soon.) «Sir, do you need your water refilled or anything else? I need to step away for a few minutes, so I want to make sure you’re all set before I go.» «Have a great round & enjoy Legoland tomorrow.»(He remembered that I was going to Legoland the next day.) This is service that really goes the extra mile. Can’t say much about lunch or dinner, but eat breakfast here & sit at the bar.

Great location. Sit outside and enjoy the view of the golf course or the basin. The popers are amazing(free bread) the Wagyu steak with argyle steak sauce was amazing with the twice baked potato and corn sides complimenting it very well. Great dinner for two and price was well worth it.

«Ladies Who Brunch» Pros: Nice Staff Pretty Location Peaceful Ambiance Yummy dessert Cons: Menu was short and a bit SNOOZE worthy. They forgot my bacon!(which I just noticed as I write this!) Star? 3-was expecting more for the area and pricing. Room for improvement. Saturday meeting with my gals at this lovely spot tucked behind the tree lined edge of Batiquitos Lagoon in Carlsbad at the Aviara Golf Club. The random downpour of rain in normally sunny San Diego was a delightful surprise and made for a fun, island like, vacation-y feel to our meal. The ambiance was quite and calm with staff who were attentive and nice. The complimentary bread basket was plentiful but not too flavorful. Would have been nice if they came out warm! The Lunch menu was pretty standard… cob salads, tomato soups, club sandwich but they dared to be a little adventurous with a Creole Po’Boy and Wagyu Hot Dog! I ordered«The Burger» which is a 6oz grass fed patty, applewood bacon, red wine caramelized onion, Gruyère and blue cheese aioli and arugula!(Ps: I really only got it for the Aioli! Slave to the creamy goodness) It also came with an option of side salad, fries or onion rings. The burger was really yummy. Full of flavor and that perfect true clean taste of grass fed meat. Paired with my meal was thee nectar of the Brunch Gods, Mimosas!!! After was a dessert flight of 4 options in which we ladies chose 3. The Strawberry shortcake, the Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate cake and the Cheese Cake! Strawberry shortcake was the least fave by all ladies and the most prized was the cheese cake! DUH! All in all the meal was yummy & prepared well but they could use a more adventurous menu. Nice place to have a quiet meal and great service though! Happy Eats! AA

I ate at the Argyle while visiting the Park Hyatt on a site visit for my company’s annual conference. The food was just ok. I had an egg white fritatta with spinach — nothing special about it. The service was great and the restaurant had a nice view of the golf course.

Great from start to finish! I came here with my parents to celebrate Father’s Day and it was the perfect place. The service, wine and food were all superb! First off, their«table bread» are fresh POPOVERS — you can not get better than this! We also shared their warm spinach salad and I thought I died and went heaven when i saw the thick slice of pork belly on top :) I had the petite filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly; the cognac and peppercorn sauce was an excellent addition in my flavor quest. We shared the peas and steamed asparagus as a table and they complimented everything perfectly as well. We HAD to finish our meal with dessert(it was a celebration after all) and we split the«my favorite chocolate cake» which was decadent and we practically licked the skillet. Overall, I’m counting down the moments until I get to go back and enjoy another amazing meal here!

We had a large private family gathering here. The staff was very friendly, welcoming and accodomating. The ambience was great. But as a steakhouse, in my opinion, there is really only 1 thing you have to get right: how to cook a medium-rare steak. And this place failed! Now granted, given our large party I think the scale in which they had to produce was not optimal, so maybe that had an impact, but I still think it’s not acceptable. My medium rare, was honestly cooked close to Well Done, Outback Steakhouse style. Under any normal circumstances I would give a place like this a 1, but I had a great time with my family and I suppose the restaurant had something to do with it by offering us a great setting and decent(other) food.

This place was headed to 5 stars until my 5oz $ 85 steak came out more like a steak you might expect from Sizzler. That’s the only negative thing I can say. The service was great, view of the 18th hole was wonderful at sunset. The bread and apple spread was out of this world. Good martini’s and an excellent Seafood Piaya was full of Seafood, the rice was moist and it was absolutely delicious! Topped things off with a peanut butter and chocolate cake which was basically frozen peanut butter with whipped cream crushed chocolate cookies and hot fudge… It was delicious with my caffe latte! One of those places you have to go if your staying at the Park Hyatt. Enjoy! Oh and BTW, after a bite of the steak(@ $ 16 an ounce) I told the waiter I was not happy. They took it back, deducted it from the bill and comped the desert! Classy place. Do it.

Another fantastic lunch on the patio watching the golfers enjoy pristine Aviara Golf Club. The wine which was featured was fantastic, «Orogeny Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2012» it went incredibly well with their signature burger. «The Burger» 6 oz. Grass Fed Patty medium rare, Applewood-Smoked Bacon & Red Wine Onion Compote, Smokey Oregon Blue & Gruyère Cheese, Garlic Aioli, and Arugula. It literally melts in your mouth !!! I had this with their tomato bisque soup, Woohoo ! As good as it gets !!
