Awesome place to peel shrimp, have a margarita and put your feet in the sand. I wish I had found this place on the first night of our stay in cape may. The place is kid friendly. Which I guess is nice… If you have kids.

My major problem with The Rusty Nail is that people stand outside the restaurant an smoke, thus allowing the smell of cigarette smoke to pour into the inside portion of the restaurant. It kind of ruins the dining experience when you have to smells cigarettes with the delicious food. I’d prefer to just smell the food. That being said, we love the food and the service was excellent. Although the hostesses, yes three of them all seem confused and befuddled when you ask ow long for a table. They actually all had to look at each other to figure it out. It was kind of comical. Beer wasn’t exactly cold, but good. I was expecting a «frosted mug» but didn’t receive it with my Rusty Nail Pale Ale. My wife and I ordered crab cake sandwiches. And for an appetizer we shared loaded fries. All we could say was, Awesome!!! Had the chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich and peanut butter bomb for desert and again, Awesome! This is still one of the best places in Cape May for a quick bite.

I came here for breakfast when I was on vacation. The bartender I met on the ferry recommended it. Breakfast was awesome! I got the Rusty Nail eggs Benedict with crab and a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary was good and reasonably priced. I enjoyed my crab Benedict greatly, with extra hot sauce! We came back as a family later for dinner. It was a Friday night, so of course, there was a wait. The manager was super kind and asked us to take a seat on one of the funky couches inside. He brought us chips and dip!(Later, he came back to our dinner table to make sure everything was going well.) I approached the bar to grab a drink and waited for a really long time. The bartenders were busy, but I actually felt they were ignoring me. I got so fed up that I just went back to the couch to sit down-UGH! I missed taking pictures of our dinner because I was so hungry. My mom and I split the spinach salad which was tasty with the eggs and bacon. I had the crab cakes with a baked yam and vegetables. Downed the whole thing! Our waitress was very sweet and the atmosphere here is very lively. You can even bring your pet! Just make sure they don’t go to close to the fire-pit, and if you need a drink, ask your server, not one of the inside bartenders(unless you are sitting at the bar)!

I love the vibe and overall look of the bar. Even the food is ok. But when I drink, I drink cocktails, and when you give me a cocktail menu, I expect everything to be good. But… I had one drink that I couldn’t even finish. It was a strawberry basil gin drink that had no strawberry flavor but all the house gin. If you like beer, just stick to that. They also have a ton of white wine for all the older ladies.
