I started out my dinner by ordering a bourbon Manhattan. That was good, and made properly, except for a couple little things floating in it. For apps I had the buffalo shrimp, and my girlfriend had the Cesar salad. The buffalo shrimp were not good. Large portion, but the you could tell the shrimp were frozen and they were more buffalo than shrimp. Being in Cape May there is no excuse for any restaurant to use any kind of frozen seafood. That’s just lazy. The shrimp were also drowned in hot sauce. You couldn’t taste the shrimp at all. For my main course I had the Steak Frites. It is a 10oz Hangar steak with a side of green beans and French fries. When it was brought to the table I could all I could think was«Holy garlic, Batman!» They completely covered the beans and fries in way too much garlic. It was kind of sad. The steak was ordered medium rare and came out rare. I’m pretty ok with that except the steak was bland. It wasn’t juicy, and had no flavor to it. For what I paid for that steak I would be better served going to Texas Roadhouse. Never had a bad steak there. Dessert was chocolate layer cake which I can’t complain about. The only reason they are getting two stars is because Dolf Lundgren works behind the bar.

This is quickly becoming one of my regular places to go for drinks and a bite to eat. Really cool, modern décor with a few different seating areas, depending on what time of you’re looking for. Love the bar style seating at their gorgeous fish tank, and the high back chairs and bench by the fireplace give you a more relaxed feel, even in a place that is usually pretty happening and busy. I’ve been nothing less than completely satisfied with all of the food I’ve tasted here as well. The flatbreads are a great option to start with or just to snack on at the bar. The buffalo chicken flatbread had a nice kick and is even on the happy hour menu. Our favorite was definitely the Fins Pie though. Crab, avocado, three cheeses(one of which is ricotta!), arugula, and a lemony drizzle over the top. It was incredible. The house wings were delicious. They mix their buffalo sauce with the sweet chili sauce to give the wings a sweet and spicy taste. The Blue burger was a great size and had a lot of flavor, especially if you throw some buffalo sauce on top. What I’m most impressed with though, are the fish tacos. They are fried, which in my opinion, is always the way to go, and quite frankly, they’re enormous. I’ve seen three people order them, but none of them have been able to finish all three on their own. I’m dying to try the seafood chowder, but I’m having a hard time pulling the trigger on the pricey, $ 8, soup(if I have to critique something). I’ll have to go for it next time. In terms of food, I think they put out some great flavors with good sized portions, but the prices may be a little high on some dishes. I’m also a big fan of the beer selection. They have a lot of local, NJ beers with a few from the Cape May Brewing Company, but also have some usual suspects and beach beers like Corona. The happy hour menu is headlined by $ 2 domestics, but the $ 5 house wines & margaritas are a solid option for non beer drinkers. And best of all, the hour hour lasts all day Sunday through Wednesday at the bar and 3 – 7 on Thursdays and Fridays. Can’t beat those hours. In terms of service and the bar staff, everyone I’ve experienced has been great. I believe my server the two times I got a table was named Denise, and she was very helpful with any questions our group had about beers, food items, suggestions, or even adjustments to our meals. When their was a mistake made on a meal(something came on the side, rather than within a wrap) she took it right back to be corrected. My mother and sister did have a server once who was a pretty inattentive, but the place does get crowded, and hopefully that was a one time thing. Fins seems to be doing very well, and I’m not surprised. I think it’s a great spot for lunch, dinner, a drink, or even to hang out and watch a game and relax with friends. I have a feeling this place is going to be a mad house over the summer so I’m going to enjoy it while I can! Go check it out!

We had an amazing meal. The food was superb and only better complimented by our patient, experienced waiter Sean, who made it a really fantastic experience. The live music at the end also made it great! for the record, we ordered the lobster Cobb to split, which was a fantastic dish. I had the scallops, which were plentiful and beautifully done. He had the tilefish, which was incredible. Plus the dirty martinis rocked! Highly recommend!!!

One of the top three Worst meals I have ever eaten!!! The Mac and Cheese App. had a stank fishy taste. The restaurant itself is unique inside and the dishes sound fancy on the menu but their lack presentation and taste. My main meal was bland. The bread was stale. The buffalo shrimp looked and tasted like frozen food from the supermarket. Don’t waste your money!!! The Service and the French fries were the highlight of the meal.

Great atmosphere for a bar in Cape May. The crowd wasn’t obnoxious, and there was a great mix of ages and types of people. They had a live band of husband and wife. Even though the music wasnt too upbeat, it oddly fit the vibe and was great background music for a night out with my mom and sisters!

The presentation, quality and preparation were excellent. The tuna tartare, pork and filet were as good as it gets. And happy hour is a terrific prelude to dinner.

Came in for lunch during our recent visit to Cape May. The vibe is exciting and I like the huge aquarium that separates the dining room from the bar. the whole place is nicely decorated and our lunch was excellent. I had a Cape May Coastal Evacuation, which our server, Ashlee, suggested. It was great. For my lunch I chose the Fins Pie which was a thin crust pizza with avocado, arugula, crab meat and 3 soft cheeses. It was excellent. My wife had the crab cake sandwich *very little filler) which she loved. The rest of the menu looked good and we loved the bar area. The bar, itself, is thick glass with blue underlighting and there is a lot of stainless steel around the bar. Compared to some of the older spots in Cape may, Fins exudes a flair that says«come back». And we did, that night, just to see what the place looked like at night. Very nice and I was able to try a couple of additional beers. Live entertainment as well. Definitely a keeper.

It is nice to see restauranteurs moving in a unique &VERYNEEDED new feeling to the Cape May restaurant scene. It has been quite stale & boring for years now. At 1st glance, the modern lighting & décor of Fins may be a bit odd but walking in & enjoying the good food, great service & beautiful atmosphere, brings you to a very comfortable place very quickly. I had gone in with a friend and met others there both at tables and the bar. Our server Kayla was superb & very knowledgeable as to recommendations and knowing both the food & drink menus. She listened to us & recommended very accordingly spot on! The bartender Marnie was AMAZING& Friendly & really went out of her way to connect everyone at the bar which led to some GREAT new people and conversations. It is nice to see a place that wants(and probably needs) to make a profit obviously but does not forget the consumer/patron and their good times. We tried a variety of beers beginning with a flight of 6& then making selections from it… PERFECT! Flights are awesome, especially in today’s varied craft market. And everything was in stock, a nice plus! We stuck to mainly appetizers & small plates because everyone was sharing & picking… everything came out prepared well, creatively presented, & timely served. It all tasted right on point. Bravo to Fins for taking the risk and opening a great place in a tired town… this may be the exact jolt it needs. Thank You.

It ended up being the first day of restaurant week when I dined here for the first time. The portions were HUGE and amazing! The crab cakes were literally all crab and very little filler, which seems to be so rare these days. The Mediterranean appetizer salad was crazy big and chalk full of all sorts of delicious additions. The modern, yet beachy vibe in here is refreshing and comfortable. Definitely recommend this place!

We had dinner here last night and it was the best we’ve eaten in cape may. Awesome atmosphere, beautiful aquarium(we sat right next to the tank :)) the wait was longer then they had first told us but we’re from NY, we will wait for good food and they didn’t disappoint. All I can say is lobster mac and cheese!!! Our waitress Denise was spot on with her drink recommendations(cucumber basil mojoto). Definitely had a upscale feeling to it but was very low key. Good for well behaved kids and families. Loved it

Went to fins for dinner. Friend had the lobster Cobb salad, it was fresh cold and good. I had the grilled Mahi Mahi blackened. Very fresh it was served over a mash potatoes with cucumber shavings. The fish was fresh. Live singer who played bowie, journey was good. The bar glows blue which is cool. Cons are the place is a little expensive. I had the same cut of Mahi Mahi at a lesser price.

I would give 3.5 if I could. I did enjoy my time there as well as my meal but a few things I know could have been better. For starters I did enjoy the selection of craft beers! Try the Bog, a cranberry shandy by the Cape May Brewery. Yum! The interior was definitely modern compared to everything else Cape May as to offer. A very youthful vibe with interesting music. I wouldn’t expect Skrillex to be playing in a Cape May restaurant but I’m not complaining! Keeping it young and hip. The calamari has a strange batter; corn meal I believe? It wasn’t what I expected nor can I say I really loved it. The oysters came which a delicious red wine vinegar which I did like, though! We also received some dinner rolls which I would have preferred to have been warmed before being served. As for dinner: I had the stuffed shrimp and my boyfriend had the shrimp skewers. The stuffed shrimp were definitely stuffed! So much crab meat, can’t complain! I wish there were a few more green beans on the plate because honestly, it was the only thing of color on the plate! A white plate, with stuffed shrimp, rice, a white wine mustard sauce, and then maybe ten green beans. As for the shrimp skewers they came with a chimichurri sauce which really lacked flavor. Some more lemon would have done it some good! Really just tasted like a cilantro oil pesto… I would have liked some kick to it. Though, it did come with a lot of shrimp! For some reason green beans were added too which really were not needed considering all the veggies on the skewers. All in all it was a good meal. Not the best ever but a solid meal with good company!

We decided to try Fins after overhearing the night before that it is the same executive chef as Peter Shields Inn. It did not disappoint! My husband and I went early-ish on a Sunday night(6:30), and were seated right away. Really like the modern beachy vibe; not traditional Cape May beachy, but still nice. Service was very good — our waitress and bus boy were very attentive. I had the Basil & Cane Mojito, my husband had the Sun Drifter — both were tasty and refreshing, perfect summery cocktails. Then we shared the tuna tartare. And this is how we knew the food would be good! I had the tuna tartare as an amuse bouche at PSI the night before, and the tuna tartare at Fins was prepared exactly the same way. Perfect ruby jewels of raw tuna, wasabi tobiko, micro cilantro, miso vinaigrette; the only difference is that at Fins, it is served over an asian cucumber salad. It was perfectly light and delicious. For the mains, my husband had grilled salmon and I had the stuffed shrimp. My husband is a salmon snob, and he declared it one of the best pieces of salmon he’s ever had. It was lightly grilled and cooked perfectly to a medium rare. The crab imperial in my stuffed shrimp was more crab than filler, as it should be. And it didn’t have that weird orangey brown hue that most stuffed shrimp dishes usually have, so that was good. The shrimp were a nice size and perfectly cooked, not dry and rubbery, which also usually the bane of most stuffed shrimp dishes. The sides that came with the entrees(jasmine rice, green beans, mashed potatoes, asparagus) were fine enough, nothing to write home about. While Fins is slightly more expensive than most options and not really kid-friendly, it’s the closest thing to a proper seafood place on the Washington Street Mall than I’ve seen in years.

Great HH $ 2 domestics $ 5 Margs $ 5 pizza wings and $ 8 fish tacos As soon as we walked in, covered in sand from the beach the host sat us at the bar. John met us with a smile and introduced himself as our mixologist. Love it. The space is covered in a beautiful blue lightening and the space flaunts a huge salt water fish tank! The bar is underlit with a color changing light strip. The place feels perfect for an engagement party or bachelorette party at the beach. The food was good not life changing but very very good for bar food. The service really shines here. The food came out quickly and piping hot. The portions are well worth the HH price and the flavor mete is high. I wish we were staying here for the week we would def be regulars. But we have to catch the ferry in 20 minutes ! Can’t wait to come back. Thanks for the great time.

We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our meal: from the drinks, the appetizer, the main dish, to the attentive service. We were just too full to try dessert. The serving sizes were very nice and the rices were on par with being in a resort town. Highly recommend — they have only been open three days so they are doing great– we didn’t see any opening kinks
