My mom & I had dinner here over the summer. The wait staff was great but the food, not so much. We ordered fish & chips and they tasted as though they were prepared earlier that day and just sitting around for hours. They were cold, tasteless and far from fresh. If you’re looking for a fun upbeat atmosphere, look no further. If you’re looking for a good, quality meal, look further.

Waited for ten minutes to get a drink at an empty bar. Food came out cold and was ok at best. Miller lite bottle was $ 4.50. Way over priced for this place.

This is a amazing place. We were birding in Cape May & wandered in here for a bite to eat In between noon & dinner time. We were expecting a tourist trap– what we found was a pearl! Their fish tacos were absolutely freaking amazing. Everything else was just a pleasant surprise. The calamari was eyes rolling in the back of your head good :) As one friend described it“a orgasm in her mouth!” Lol We went back 4 days in a row. Since then we have taken friends from Connecticut all the way back down there for fish tacos ! Who isn’t up for a baby boomer road trip? It’s a fun place, great atmosphere & even better food & staff.

Fun place for football game on a Sunday, but their food was an indicator why it was only $ 3 for it. I tried the wings and chili. Would have been upset if it was more than that. The wait staff was awesome and so was the beer.

Been going to Carney’s for years. Has always been 3 – 4 stars. Saturday night was a very bad experience. The place was about 1⁄3 full when we showed up — about 7:30PM. I suppose that should have been a tip that things have not been good since our last visit(about 3 years ago). We ordered. We waited, and waited and waited and WAITED. About 1 hour and 20 minutes later our meal arrived. Fish and Chips were excellent, Stuffed Founder superb, the short rib sandwich? Horrific. Cold, dry and flavorless. Won’t be going back.

Awesome happy hour prices. Wings were especially good. Early Bird dinner was a bargain, and tasty. Great service from Sean and Bonesy in the bar. Will be back.

We popped in one night while we were staying nearby. Heard live music and followed it. Pretty good lively place– friendly crowd. They have a large wrap around bar and a dance floor and stage. Stayed still almost closing. Mix of ages and energy levels– some people dancing it up, other groups chatting and chilling at tables or at the bar. I’d go again for sure.

Good food. 4 – 6 early bird dinner pricing @ $ 15 each is an outstanding value and the exceeded expectations. Tomato bisque was great!

Live bands and DJ daily… this is the place to dance when you’re in town. It’s a bit of a dive but that’s part of Carney’s charm. A word to wise… walk or call Art’s Taxi to get you home. The police park themselves across the street at closing time.

Fell below expectations for a place by the water in Cape May. The only thing that was impressive was the bowl of soup, which was at least large. The pulled short-rib burger on the Restaurant Week menu was really just so meh, along with the stale, overtoasted bun, expired sour tomato, limp lettuce, and icky pickle. I took it home because I couldn’t finish it, but it’s not like taking it home made it more tasty. It ended up in the trash anyway, unlike my leftovers from Dogtooth Grille in Wildwood, which were so awesome I took my time finishing those.

Carney’s is a staple in Cape May. Local’s love it. They rave about their burgers. I only stopped in for a drink(didn’t try the food). Place has a divey feel to it… but welcoming. They offer an early bird menu and live music. Check their website. Beers on draft range from Bud to Sierra Nevada Summer Fest. They have extended hours during peak months(May-Sept). Happy Hour from 4−7pm. TV’s for your sporting event viewing pleasure. Their bartenders are friendly. It does get busy on the weekends during dinner hours and late night.

Wife and I stopped in for a late lunch — early dinner. Crowded, but we were seated right away. She had prime rib and found it good. Came with potato and Asparagas. I had tilapia with crabmeat. Not bad. It came with salad and dessert. Price was decent and we were happy.

This was the best meal we had in Cap May. It started with a friendly greeting and a great table by the window. My wife and I ordered from the early bird special. I had the fish and chips, large portion and perfectly done. My wife had the Atlantic salmon, the same, nice portion and perfectly prepared. Our server Joanne made the evening pleasant, always had a smile, something lacking in the other restaurants we visited. I would recommend Carney’s if you want a delicious meal in a friendly atmosphere. Thanks for a nice evening.

One of the worst establishments I have ever visited The bartender was extremely rude. The owner stated after I had complained about the poor service(and after paying a $ 240 tab)…that he makes that much in an hour… we left… left w party of 6… Ruined an evening

We had dinner here and was pretty pleased with the service and food. Diane had a steak which was cooked perfectly and I had seafood or was delicious.

OMG this place was terrible! The beer tasted like there was something dead floating around in it. I got a Guinness, the head on it looked like pond scum! Not fluffy and creamy, but more like the top of a root beer float that has sat out for too long. DISGUSTING!!! I didn’t finish either beer(I ordered another thinking that the Guinness was just off). Don’t go there! Ew!

Favorite place to come out and dance in Cape May. They always have a live band both nights of the weekend. Animal House being my favorite. They play all of the current hits and oldies you love to drunkenly sing along too. This place always has a fun crowd with people of all ages. The bar is always crowed on the weekends and the dance floor packed. I love singing into my bud light microphone and just dancing with my friends. Never had a bad time here. The bartenders are so friendly with great service. Be sure to tip well and they’ll ring the large boat bell. Just be aware it’s a 5 $ cover when there is a band(always worth it) but if you plan on coming here all summer it’s 10 $ for the VIP card which will get you in for free. VIP is a great summer investment.

Was recently introduced to this place by my friend in Cape May. Great bar! We went here 2 times over Memorial Day weekend and had a great time. There is always a life band playing, good drinks, bartenders are friendly, crowd is fun. Its has all the elements of what you are looking for at a casual beach bar. I have not eaten here so I cannot talk about the food, however a lot of my friends have eaten here and they said its good! If you find yourself in Cape May looking for a fun night out, definitely check it out.
