Did the tasting menu… 6 ½oz pours I’m not a white guy but the Chardonnay as excellent! The Smith red is a great table wine, also really enjoyed the Zinfandel. Could have drank an entire bottle of the Isaac Smith Merlot! Not impressed with the Cabernet Sauvignon. Finished with the Isaac Smith Port fantastic with dark chocolate!

I’m giving this place a generous star because of the views and awesome outside space. Otherwise, I would never recommend it. I went there 2 weekends ago with some girlfriends for a birthday celebration. We paid $ 8.50 for 6 tastings. An older gentleman was our bartender… he was incredibly rude. He basically ignored us, and then proceeded to serve us as if it was a huge inconvenience. The samples he gave us were SO small it wasn’t even a full sip and you couldn’t taste the wine. He also barely gave us any facts about the wine… it was like he thought we were a bunch of bimbos there to drink. I am very into wine so I was very disappointed. We went to Willow Creek after that and it was 100x better. The staff was amazing and the wine selection was great!

One of four wineries we visited recently and do a nice job of describing their wines with answers to your questions as well. I like it when the person serving your wine is knowledgeable and enjoys their job. Fun place and we will return.

Second year in a row we stop in during the summer. Great place to take the tour, try their samples while enjoying the views. We always find a favorite or two. We will be back in 2016.

All in all this place is amazing in respect to its grounds. There is a large back patio with many tables and chairs that each have their own umbrella. While sitting in the chairs you can gaze out at the grape vineyards and much of the time they apparently have live entertainment. The inside tasting/bar area is equally as beautiful with amazing woodwork, high top tables and a seated couch area. All areas are available for free roam. I visited this winery with my girlfriend, buddy and his girlfriend this past weekend after being in the area for the wildwood roar to the shore motorcycle event. My girlfriend and I have been doing a NJ winery passport where you visit the wineries in the book, get them stamped off and then send the book in for drawings to win trips to wineries in other counties. It’s pretty fun and cheap to do, being tastings aren’t expensive. The tasting was fun and the bartender was very inviting and talkative. It was $ 8/person for 6 tastings and you get to keep your glass; which is currently a large stemless wine glass more suited for red wines over whites. My favorite wine that day was the merlot and my girlfriend picked the blush. I’ve read in other reviews that you can purchase glasses or bottles and bring your own snacks to enjoy with the wine. I plan on finding out for sure because if this is true I will be back to enjoy this beautiful relaxing spot again!

Nice atmosphere, sweet staff. Love that you can buy snacks too. Wine isn’t amazing and they rush you a bit.

The purpose was to get a bottle of wine and enjoy the nice day on the patio. We didn’t even bother with a tasting. Just went with a recommendation from one of the ladies at the counter asking for something like a sweet riesling. We opted for the Lighthouse White for $ 14. It was satisfyingly sweet, fruity, and crisp. A good wine for summer. They provided us with an ice bucket and some glasses. For a Saturday afternoon there was a nice crowd but still plenty of seats and tables available. I didn’t see an area where we could have laid out a blanket and enjoyed ourselves. There was gentleman singing and playing music. They do sell cheese and meats to be enjoyed with the wines, I would say just pack your own. I wish this winery was closer to home and not almost 2 hours away. If your looking for a terrific day date this would be a nice place to check out.

This was really more of a 2.5 star experience, but I’ll round up for the views. Cape May Winery is gorgeous. There’s no denying it. Otherwise? I’ve been to at least a dozen other wineries around New Jersey, and this was by far my least favorite. Let’s start with the CONS: 1. Samples were super skimpy. I could hardly even taste each wine. For $ 8/six tastes, this felt like a huge rip-off. 2. I only would consider purchasing one of the six wines that I tried: the Cape May White. The rest were unmemorable. I didn’t buy that wine, however, because it was $ 19, and I wasn’t willing to pay that much for it. 3. It took forever to be acknowledged in the tasting area. We stood there for quite awhile as four others were offered samples over and over. I don’t understand why we couldn’t at least start our tasting as they finished theirs. 4. The previous parties mentioned above were each offered«bonus samples.» This was not extended to us. I think if you’re going to offer extra samples to one group, you should be considerate and continue to offer them to other paying customers standing within earshot. Especially after you make them wait. As for the PROS: 1. They offer multiple tasting areas, including the upstairs deck for nice days. This made for a nice, albeit short, retreat. 2. They have a nice shop area in the front for all of your wine-related needs. 3. The people working the front area were very nice and wrapped up our complimentary glasses, which, by the way, were pretty and half made up for the tasting price. Although I really didn’t need another glass. I was stopping in for the tasting itself! 4. Again, the grounds were absolutely beautiful.

Stopped here with friends while we were on vacation. My first time to a winery for a tasting. 8 bucks for six tastings, got to keep your wine glass. What a lovely, airy, romantic setting. Reminds me of a laid back Italian countryside(never been to Italy, but I’m guessing!) Casual and inviting. Live music in the background a nice touch. Lovely groundskeeping and plants make for a nice photo op. Sat here chatting for hours over a boozy nibble of various cheese and crackers we had purchased in the gift shop next door. Wines were delicious, my boyfriend and I ironically chose the same wine as our favorite, a Pino Grigio with notes of apricot and peach. Not sweet, nor dry. Just the way I like it. Will be back if I ever visit here again!

Good wine with knowledgeable and friendly staff. Scenery is just as good. Try the dessert; Isaac Smith Fini Blanc or the red Cape May Zinfandel.

This winery holds a special place in my heart. I just visited here a couple of days ago and will have you know that I received the exact same style of service as the first time I ever set foot in those doors a year ago… Nothing short of EXTRAORDINARY. They really know how to keep their customers coming back. Gerry and Nicole have been wonderful during the(annual)wine tasting I’ve attended. The customer service counter workers in the gift shop are so friendly and inviting. The wine that is made there is like no other. Every time I go there I want to leave with a case of my favorites! Lol The views of the patio and vineyards are breathtaking. You can even make it a whole day thing and bring your own picnic. It truly is made for a romantic escape, or a day trip with the girls.

Gorgeous little spot in Cape May for a day off of the beach. There is a great patio with tables where you can drink wine, bring your own picnic and enjoy a view of the vineyard. The wine itself isn’t bad, but the wine tasting they offer leaves much to be desired. The cost is $ 8, which allows you to choose 6 wines to taste and includes a stemless wine glass to take home. The person helping us during the tasting displayed no great knowledge concerning the wine, and the portions were incredibly small — think tablespoon of wine. The value of the tasting would be much greater if they were to: double the price, not gift a free wine glass, serve better tasting portions, and display more knowledge about the wines they are serving. It would come off as more professional and as a better and richer experience. All that being said, I will be back to enjoy the patio but not the wine tasting.

It rained. Poured, in fact, during the first and second day of our charming little Cape May Vaca. So there we were… bored, cold, and unamused with the«coolest town in America.» So as most level-headed adults would do, we decided draining our sorrows in a bottle of alcohol was our sole option. That’s when Cape May Winery reached out and yanked us from our Debbie Downward Spiral. The location was absolutely stunning. As a Northern Virginia winery snob, this facility exceeded all expectations. In fact, this was easily one of my favorite winery experiences to date. Eric, the guitarist, played live music from the patio and his jams hummed through the tasting room all afternoon. The staff was FANTASTIC. Hunt down Jeannie and Shelley, they ruled! And gave nice size pours. I bought a glass of the Cabernet Sauvignon and then one of the Lighthouse, and then a bottle of the Chardonnay for the group. I was hopping through the wine list, but that’s because I truly enjoyed all of them! Even the sweet white wines that I typically avoid, were just too perfect for summer sipping to pass up. Thank you Cape May Winery for showing us the love and charm and good vibes this place is all about! We will be back!

Really great value. $ 20 and there is a tour, some cheese and fruit, and a commemorative glass, not to mention several swigs of wine. The vineyard is small and nothing in comparison to the acres that exist in Mendoza, but it’s really cute and a lovely way to spend an hour and a half on a Saturday when there is nothing much else on the docket in cape may. If you bring your own food, you can chill on the back area by the vineyard and eat and drink to your own pleasure!

Wineries and tasting are the perfect activity for any weekend. The Cape May Winery acted as a perfect alternative activity during a rainy beach weekend. I found a Groupon online $ 20 for a tour, tasting, a cheese tray, a take home glasses for 2– not bad. Make sure you reserve a spot ahead of time of the tour– as it does get full on the weekends. The Winery was easy to find, parking was not. The front lot was packed, so I had to go around back and park in an unorganized grass lot. The entrance is beautiful, and the store is nicely laid out– but it was packed and the lines moved slow. When I finally got up to the front desk to check in, I found the lady to be extremely rude. The tour guide was much better, although she talked very soft and was hard to hear in the huge group of 30 for the tour. The information I was able to hear was very interesting. But overall the tour was wayyyy to long– 90 minutes! As for the tastings– they were far and few between. Not to mention the tiny amount of wine given for each of the tastings. For a tour that long– you should be tasting alot more wine. The cheese tray was a disappointment– as it was a community cheese tray that the entire tour shared. There were no plate or table tops– which made it difficult to enjoy the cheese. I wish they had offered a water– because the small glasses of wine were not pair with the cheese. I would go back to the Cape May Winery– as I enjoyed a few of their wines, and they were priced well. I would skip the tour and tasting– and instead pack a lunch/snacks and buy a bottle there and enjoy one of their many tastings areas.

As a kid every summer my parents headed to South Jersey(Smithville-to-AC region) and drag me to various wineries and it was so incredibly boring I swore I would never do that to my kids. Then I found out there’s a winery in Cape May and they have tastings and my old rule is out the window.(Thankfully this place has coloring books and so much cleaner and brighter and more interesting than what I remember as a kid.) $ 12 gets you 6 tastings(you pick which 6 from a list of around 20) and a take-home wine glass. Being a lush I was disappointed that the pour was tiny but I was happy to discover some interesting wines(like some other places on the East Coast — the whites are better than the reds I thought) and before I knew it I was walking out with a mixed case.(They are not afraid to charge, FYI.) Cool gift shop(they were completely out of «L» shirts?!) and beautiful grounds to walk around and see the young grapes doing their best to grow for our drinking pleasure. Heads up: my Tom-Tom GPS was about a mile off because it wouldn’t let me put the # and only the street name.

I brought a group of 4 here for a Saturday wine tasting. After reading the reviews, I knew we were only getting a spit of each of the 6 wines so no surprise there. They want you to get a taste and then buy a bottle-they’ve got a business to run, after all! It was pretty busy when we arrived so I do wish they had opened up the other bar for tasting so you weren’t right on top of the other patrons. Our bar tender(who moonlights as an English teacher) was full of information on all of the wines. He was great and very patient with our rowdy bunch. The price of the bottles is really reasonable($ 15-$ 28.) We packed a little picnic of snacks and bought two bottles of wine to enjoy on their beautiful patio. It really is a beautiful venue to sit and enjoy. I’ll certainly be back!
