Sometimes it’s just that one thing that will set a restaurant apart from others, ok, drum roll, Baja has separated itself from it’s competitors by offering the Ensalada de la Casa must add smoked turkey. I eat out at least five times a week just In this area alone, so when I tell you something is good here it is! Best salad on the lake! I go on off times during the day so service is always prompt, courteous and willing to double check big orders! Much Thanks to the awesome owners for offering healthy flavorful options!!!

This was hands-down the worst service, if you could even call it service, that I have ever in my life(not) received. We were there for 45 minutes, talked to 4 different people, saw 3 different servers in our«section» and were never one time approached by a server. Not once. I will NEVER come back to this restaurant, regardless of the«amazing» sunsets. Ridiculous. If I could give no stars, I would.

While out on a Sunday drive, we stumbled in here by pure accident. We were welcomed by a delightful young hostess who greeted us with a warm Texas smile and showed us to a table outside on their large patio overlooking the marina and the lake. Our waitress, Crystal, arrived almost instantly and greeted us, took our drink order, and returned in about 3 minutes with one of the best strawberry margaritas we’ve ever had. Of course, when she revealed it had a shot of EVERCLEAR in it, it all made sense. LOL We had a large order of Don’s Nachos since we weren’t hungry enough for a meal but they were VERY filling and tasty with plenty of cheese and some really good BBQ brisket along with jalapeño slices, guacamole, and Pico de Gallo on the side. Crystal did a great job providing us with outstanding service and the prices were very reasonable. Scenery was also nice.

Fair view, large outdoor patio. Plenty of servers. I found they were a bit shocker to see a non white not Hispanic person in there establishment as the look on the hostess face was in awe. Ordered the tub plate and it was dry to the bone, didn’t complain because of the nice server. Would not recommend unless you’re seeking a cold beverage. Just not good good.

I was dragged here after reading the reviews, knowing would not enjoy the food or the service. I was right. Walking outside smelled like rusted metal. When we decided to eat inside, the server forgot some of our drinks and seemed very lost. When the food came, about an hour later, it was not impressive especially for the prices. The server kept forgetting little requests like«can you bring more water» or «can I get sliced tomatoes with this». She apologized saying«I’m so sorry it’s been crazy» when earlier she was laughing and joking behind the counter with her coworkers because the restaurant was literally dead. I was hopeful about desert and ordered a peach cobbler warmed with vanilla ice cream easy right? No, it was burnt and 90% ice cream. Avoid this place, the sunset is NOT the best either.

After being on the water all day we were starving, so we stopped by Baja BBQ Shack for some dinner. This place was busy, when we arrived at the hostess station we were told we could be seated but we could not be served for 20 mins. The waitress then told us that we could order and she did not know what the hostess was talking about. Well we ordered, I ordered the Ensalada de la Casa which was supposed to contain the following items: Mixed greens Cucumbers red onions diced watermelon tomatoes smoked bacon Cotija cheese with mango vinaigrette. When I received my salad it only had mixed greens cucumbers red onions tomatoes with mango vinaigrette I asked the waitress if this was the salad I ordered. She said yes. I told her that I did not receive the bacon(I didn’t realize I was missing much more then bacon). She then brought me bacon about 7mins later. When we received the check she had charged me for the bacon and said that the bacon didn’t come with the salad. I asked to speak with a manager and but the waitress then took it off our bill. We also ordered a child’s plate and asked for mac and cheese(it comes with a side). My child received 2 sides instead of one and we were charged again for the item we didn’t order. I didn’t catch this error till we left. The food was not that great but it was a nice location on the river.

Our waitress was horrible! We sat outside and(WITHCOBBWEBCHAIRSANDSPIDERSUNDERTHETABLE) she took forever to get to us to begin with, then it took her 10 minutes to get us waters. After we ordered with«Miss no personality at all» we waited 25 minutes to get our food. The food was so bland it wasn’t even funny, you couldn’t put enough salt pepper for flavor even if you tried! Actually the food was GROSS! The waitress never came back to check on us until she wanted to get paid then she just slipped the check on the table and didn’t say a darn word! We saw on our way out ya’ll are hiring for wait staff, ya might want to put an AD in the newspaper for employment cause what you have right now is a complete joke. If ya’ll want people to come back clean up your restaurant inside and out and especially your employees!

Don’t order the enchiladas! I ordered the enchilada dinner and it was the worst meal I’ve had in years. The enchilada sauce had no flavor and was very salty. The beans and rice were dry and cold. What a disappointment!

This place is slightly above average. Food is ok. Service is ok. We went during lunch and it was practically empty which was nice for kids. View of the marina is great.

This is a great restaurant after a long day on the boat, or a long day in general! Best part, you can come here in your swim bottoms, or dress it up and there are no judgemental eyes because YOU’REONTHELAKE! It’s located right above the marina and you can eat inside, outside, or in the outside smoking section(which has its own bar). As for the food, it is quality, but a little pricey. I really enjoyed the loaded nachos! The guacamole is very fresh and that queso… YUM. I was disappointed last time when I asked for a drink menu only to find they didn’t have one. So I ordered a Sangria-Rita and was not impressed — it was superrrr sweet. I’m told most people get their house rita which you can only have 2 of because they’re so strong… in the future it’d be nice to see Baha BBQ Shack drink specials on a menu! *hint*hint* Overall: I think this is a great stop. According to my family that lives in CL, the locals love it too and you can always find one of the owners on site. Oh — and the bathrooms are really clean and well decorated :)

Drinks and snacks ONLY. Unless you are rich and /or starving. And good luck. You are rolling the dice on possibly long waits, slow service and good? food. Nothing new here at this location. All five of us had extremely small portion sizes for the price. $ 16 for 3 medium shrimp, about 5 oz of fried fish, soggy fries and SPOILED coleslaw. Another friend paid $$$ for 3 small pieces of brisket. They have an amazing location and NO competition. No need for anything above average. You’re at the lake. It is what it is. Holy crap the bloody Mary’s were $ 8! Stop by the bar(or cool now covered rail), get drinks, enjoy the view. Maybe check out a decent band at night. Maybe order the Tres Amigo(guac, queso, salsa and chips $ 10). Save dinner for your condo, camper or house.

We stopped by the Shack after recommendations from locals for a late lunch. Our server Candice was terrific, taking great care of us. My wife and son ordered the sliced beef BBQ sandwich while I had the single meat(brisket) plate with beans and potato salad. The sandwiches were odd, one came as expected with sliced meet, but my wifes was very fatty and with poor meat selection. My plate was good, although the bread was a little stale. The service here is excellent, but it appears their food is inconsistent and lacks attention to detail, which disconnects from the service being provided. I thought $ 4.75 for a bottle of beer was a bit ridiculous, the total bill was nearly $ 50 for the three of us, a little more than I would have expected. We’ll go back in the summer to enjoy the evening crowd and sunset over the lake before making a final decision.

Meat was not the best. Dry and not much flavor. Wife had ribs and fries all in one basket and drenched in sauce. Fries were soggy with sauce. Service was very good and friendly.

8 Oct 2014 24. Baja BBQ Shack, Canyon Lake, 3*** I’ve seen the terrible reviews, but it wasn’t my experience, maybe they have consistency issues. The Q is good but lacks the intensity I prefer. Character: 3***, It’s an old marina restaurant with a wonderful view of the lake. Really it’s a restaurant with a diverse menu in a joint of a building. Expect some of the expected joint related issues. Service: 4**** They do sit down table service here. The door lady was cordial and got me to a table outside. My waiter was prompt, attentive to the right degree and friendly. It was a pleasant dining experience, except the music outdoors was a bit too loud. Food/Quality: 3*** Half pound of brisket, fries, and just water to drink today. For the half pound I got 3 larger than a piece of bread, freshly carved, 3⁄8 inch thick slices. They were very well marbled and pull apart tender. The bark was on the light side but the smoke ring was a good 3⁄8 inch deep. Going along with the light bark, was a mild smoky flavor. All in all, nice tasting brisket, 3***. The house sauce is sweet and lightly smoky too, it’s alright but nothing special, 3***. French fries are the usual food service style fries, but they were properly cooked and served fresh, so they get a 3*** too. All that came with a 2 slices of white bread, pickles, and onions. Value: 4****, While the $ 8.25 per half pound and $ 2.95 fries are on the high side, the portions were generous enough to make this a very good value. Pit: 3***, They’ve got an outdoor pit house, but I didn’t take a look. Hey at least it’s not an oven burning pellets. Overall I liked this place. If you’re with a group that wants a diverse menu, this is a good hole on the lake. Although if you’re Q fishin’, there’s better spots in NB. follow My Year of Que at

I was reluctant to come here but they were the only place open at that time. The patio had a great view and they had a live band for us. Kinda nice. Just a few issues, we sat for a good 10 minutes before they realized we were even there. Our waitress was a bit clueless but she tried really hard. We placed our order and our food came lightening fast, probably to make up for forgetting about us initially. That was the only thing that happened fast. We pretty ugh had to wait for all drinks and everything else that was added on. The first batch of brisket was so moist, we ordered more. The second batch was old and dry and chewy. The texarita was pretty good. The beers took a while to come. My kid enjoyed the sprinkles that came out of their cooler system, we enjoyed each others company. This place has the view, since it doesn’t have any competition, they probably don’t care about better service.

Was hesitant by the Unilocal reviews but came by word of mouth, employee at Silverleaf recommended it. 1st impression leaves alite to be Desired, but from the host, to the waiter, to the appetizer and main course. The food was excellent. I had the smoked turkey and the rest had Burgers and were very impressed. Only reason not 5 is the Resturant floors/table were a little sticky.

Food poisoning! I called immediately spoke with unprofessional Manager.Leigh. She was not empathetic and acted like she didn’t care about the fact that me and my girlfriend were in the bathroom all night throwing up. We had split a hamburger and French fries. If you come to the lake and are hungry your best bet is bring your own food and sit by the lake the view will be the same and you won’t waste your money on a tourist trap that doesn’t care about the quality of food they are serving. Same owners have Luckys sports bar and grill. These are the only places on the lake and obviously could care less whether or not you have a good experience because you are at their mercy.

After reading all the negative reviews, I was hesitant to eat here. My experience has been very different. All of our food was really good. The smoked turkey was well spiced and moist. The smokey and the banditos and dons super nachos were fabulous. We also enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich. I would readily come back here for a delightful view and great food.

The worst. Asked for a margarita, they told me they weren’t frozen. They severed me anyway and gave me half the drink. We asked why we only have half a drink they explained that if they were frozen it would be full. On top of that they sit us at a Dirty table and when we ask to clean it they are so confused as to why we need it clean. We continue our meal, the wait staff comes over and explains that her shift was complete and we need to pay immediately. The food wad average, service was beyond poor. Owing a business for many years i would never write a bad review, however my experience was more than upsetting and Feel the need to share my thoughts. The only thing this restaurant has going for it is it’s the lack of completion, we continue to to here because it’s the only place on the water. However every time I leaves stressed and my experience is wrecked.

The view, the beach/lake vibe, friendly service — and other amenities, like a tiki bar, volley ball court, marina side parking — make this place 4– to 5-star worthy. The food — because it’s so expansive, ranging from barbecue to seafood to burgers and sandwiches — leaves the patron a tad confused. But then again, the name is «Baja BBQ Shack.» Surprisingly, the barcue was pretty good. I snuck a few bites of the brisket with some of their three barbecue sauces — original, Tenesse-style and habanero — along with their potato salad, which was my favorite. My actual entrée was the shrimp tacos. Total meh, mainly due to a dry and brittle corn tortilla, but the hefty side of avocado, rice and beans made up for it. They don’t have ANY beers on tap, nor do they have any local beers on the menu, so go for a margarita instead.(They also have one made with Everclear.) Eep.
