Drove by it a few times before the girlfriend and I found it the first time we visited Nelson’s; been back several times over the following few weeks. Honestly, I don’t know how they make money with such low prices. Tony(?)(Gentleman wearing the white mustache) is attentive but not annoying, packed our pile of plants in boxes while we walked around, remembered us after our first visit. Overall awesome place, especially relative to other more obvious choices like Lowes or larger nurseries. Felt like it was our spot; hidden gem.

I absolutely love this nursery! The owners are very nice and the prices are great! I love their selection and adore my plants I have gotten from there! I love the smaller and more intimate mom and pop feel. Only place I buy my plants now! Very nice and helpful people to deal with. Easy location to get to with super easy parking.

Nelson has been selling plants and green things around the west valley for many many years. I first recall buying plants from him at the indoor valley swap meet over on Variel just south of Vanowen. That building has now been leveled and there’s something like four-thousand apartments in it’s place. Then he moved to Canoga, just north of Sherman Way. He had much less space, parking never to be found, and a «dispensary» next door. I’m glad he moved out of there… no, not because of the dispensary. On a small parcel of land on Sherman Way midway between Fallbrook and Platt, Nelson’s has now set up show. The brick and adobe building right next door was built in the 30’s, is now Historical Cultural Monument #135 and is leased by Hidden Château and Gardens(yet another review). Nelson’s nursery is all fenced in and houses a variety of plants. He always seems to be bringing new seasonal stuff in. Flats of flowers are well priced — about 30% less than the typical hardware/garden store. He’s got some shaded stuff in the middle like indoor plants and ferns, and way in the back, it’s succulents and cactus. It’s not the«prettiest» nursery but I think you can find some deals if you wander around a bit. At least here, there’s someone to actually help you with your purchase. Nelson is at his new location seven days a week from about 9am-6pm. I don’t know his exact hours but when I find out, I’ll post them up here for him. Timber!
