So I couldn’t get my sushi cooked cause you guys put away the stuff already? Didn’t know you guys closed at 830 pm instead of 9pm. The worst ever.

Highly disappointed in use of the small boxes instead of actual bowls for their«bowl» items on the menu. Even when dining in now the bowls come in a small to-go box so portions are smaller — noticed less teriyaki sauce on the chicken and less salad to make it fit but kept price the same.

This place isn’t bad for food court type — Quick Japanese food. Their sushi is pretty good, and I enjoy their tempura rolls and their California Rolls. The teriyaki chicken is just ok, I have had better, but its still not bad if you are hungry. The service is hit or miss, but the food makes up for it. I wouldn’t say this is a place I would actively seek out, but for the price and the convenience, I will say its A Ok. A Decent sushi place to eat at the Topanga Mall.

So, after many attempts to eat here I think I have finally given up. When I wait for 5 minutes for the lady to take my order and she finally comes up chewing food and pieces are actually coming out of her mouth as she laughs. Not good! Then I watch her lick her fingers and then go to put my lid on my take out container. To top it all off she puts the miso soup and hot combo on top off my California roll salad. I get home to a mushy California roll and some very wilted lettuce. Don’t try to talk to a manager, they don’t exist for this company. I even looked online and called other locations, to be told no manager here sorry call back. This bothered me, I called management office of the Westfield Topanga mall. Another shocker they have NO number either for a manager. How is that possible??? Does this chain have something to hide. If anyone has a phone number to their corporate office please pass it along. Happy eating!

DONOT buy any drinks from these guys, I didn’t try the food but I don’t trust it anymore after this. I ordered a boba drink from them, it came out fast but it tasted sub par. At the bottom of my drink I was disgusted to find a finale big piece of triangular clear PLASTIC that got mixed into the drink. I will never be buying anything from them again that’s for sure.

Understaffed, lady taking orders was a real idiot, messing up people’s order. Manager was cooking then taking orders. Sketchy food handling going on, they would touch money then food, touch trash can, then food. The condiments bar was filthy. Really needs a health inspection. Badly managed restaurant. I would be careful on getting sick, after what I saw I walked away to another restaurant.

We used to LOVE Hana Grill in Century City when we lived in Santa Monica… they make THE best chicken bowl I’ve seen in a food court! See, it’s all about the rice. It has to be right. My husband is Japanese and he LOVES the rice… which they really pile on! I think it’s the most fun you can have for $ 8– at Topanga Mall-not many things there go for such a steal! ;) Love it here! Thanks everyone at HG! Don’t change a thing…

The Hana grill is really great for being mall food. I love their shrimp tempura rolls, combination rolls, and their teriyaki chicken bowls. This has become one of my favorites lunch spots, since I work right around the corner. The service is always prompt, and I am in and out with my things. I was very surprised at how much I grew to love this place. I was always set on mall court food being nasty. I would give it a try! Reasonably priced rolls & bowls at around $ 9.95 each. Always make sure to get free sides of sriracha and teriyaki sauce. Makes every meal that much better!

I would say for food court sushi, I was thoroughly impressed with the combination roll(spicy tuna, spicy crab, avocado, and shrimp tempura). With a little soy sauce + wasabi you get even more heat.

When I thought I was ordering a fillet of salmon, I didn’t know they meant I was getting a paper thin film. The salmon was non-existing. Quite sub par.

Cool place for a quick bite in the mall. Mall food is always something that’s just there and you decide«what the heck, I’ll have a bite.» When I am at the Topanga mall I either eat here or Panda express. Nothing too amazing here, but nothing horrible either.

Don’t bother. Waited over ten minutes for a chicken bowl at the Topanga Mall. Meanwhile, I watched a patron try to get a glass of water and each glass was dirty. He asked the staff for a clean glass and the girl gave him a blank stare. He finally gave up and walked away. The condiment station was filthy and the containers were ¼ full. There were 3 cooks standing around yet nothing was happening. No wonder there was no line… That should have been my clue, yet I waited 10 minutes for something that would have tasted better out of my microwave. Don’t stop, keep moving to the next counter at this food court.

The pricing is very cheap and reasonable for sushi. The food is delicious! I love the combination rolls and miso soup. I would definitely recommend Hana grill. :)

Good Japanese food for a mall food court… The spicy teriyaki bowl is my favorite. And add some spicy tuna rolls for $ 2.99. Yum! Just DONOT get their poke bowl. That was the worst poke I’ve ever tried. Poke is so easy to make… Diced tuna, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Their poke tasted so off like they put teriyaki sauce on tuna… Weird. And they diced the tuna so big. It was just a bad mouthful of tuna. Gag!

I never in my life returned food until last night when I ate at Hana Grill at the mall. I used to love this place when it first opened, it was classy, clean, and served good food. When I saw it last night… the staff were wearing black mall issued t-shirts instead of their usual white pressed button ups, there were no menus at the seats like before, you couldn’t order at the seats but instead ordered on the Take Away side like fast food joint. But worst of all: The windows where you can usually see the fish in EVERYSUSHIBAR were covered. That should have been my first red flag. Anyways… Ive been to the dodgy sushi joints from all over the world and officially can say that I am confident in differentiating fresh fish from not so fresh fish. My Sashimi salad was good until my third slice of fish and it was not right. I gave another one a try and again it was not a fresh fish. I told the NON english speaking«chef» but he insisted that he just got the fish this morning. I’m not attacking your ability to bring in a crate from the delivery van to your kitchen! Your fisherman could be long john silver for all I care… I’m not just going to say«ok» and continue eating rank fish just cause you say its fresh. Your reasoning does not change my tastebuds. So finally he tells me to go to the cashier to get a refund… and get this… he also orders me to clear my plate and place it in the bin. Um… you think a refund means I have to do your job? Oh and this is my favorite… he says«leave a tip please for the cleaning.» WTF is this place? Your food is gross, your customer service is appalling, and now you make a tip mandatory after a vial experience? Did the management of this place kill himself? Never again Hana Grill

Vegans and anyone allergic to shellfish be careful eating here! I tried their teriyaki vegan bowl. The«meat» that resembled chicken was actually pretty good. The reason I’m only giving them 1 star is because they don’t know what being vegan is. Thank goodness I’m not really vegan, but I do have food allergies. If Hana Grill does not know what they’re serving, then that could be a real problem. Their food is made to order, so it’s fresh. They did prepare my food separate from the grill where they prepare meat. The problem was when I asked about their condiments. They have sliced cucumbers and ginger with sesame seeds added to it. I wanted to make sure no fish sauce or any seafood product was added to their condiments. The cashier said no, but was concerned after I told her about my allergies to shellfish. She told me the condiments had no seafood in it, but asked me if it would be a problem that the veggies in my vegan bowl had some fish flakes/salt in it. In my head I was yelling, «Of course! That’s why I ordered vegan!» I guess she understood from the look on my face and asked if steamed vegetables would be okay. Then she told the woman preparing my food to give me steamed veggies instead. I heard her get upset. She had to start a new batch of vegetables. I’m definitely never coming back here. Hana Grill, you’re lucky you haven’t sent anyone into anaphylactic shock yet.

Hana Grill is your typical teriyaki place except for the fact that it’s in the mall food court at the Topanga Mall. The price is actually comparable to other teriyaki places outside. I’m glad to see that they didn’t mark up the price just because of their location. I would say that the portion and quality of the food is pretty good. I really like that they don’t pre-fry any of their tempura. The tempura is delicious because it is served right out of the fryer so it’s still nice and crispy. They have really large california rolls and a few other variety of rolls. I didn’t try any but noticed that many people ordered it. I will have to come back another day to try those.

The other stars seem to have matched it up quite right, it’s a good place to eat. This place is situated in the dining terrace of the Westfield Topanga Mall. I don’t really have too much to about this place except for that their menu has a good selection and good quality. I usually just get the beef bowl and it’s definitely enough to fill you. Overall, it’s a good place to eat if you’re just in the mall not looking for a sit down yet don’t want to spend that extra dollar.
