Love the bibimbap, japchae, kimchi pancakes, and of course the bulgogi… here again to try something new!

This is the only place in the West SF Valley to get Korean grub! The owners are friendly and the food is good. What else can you ask for? I’m only giving a 4 instead of a 5 because going to KTown is always the best. But for being the only game in town, they are doing a great job.

Every time my family asks to go here I can’t understand why. The atmosphere is disgusting and dirty, the cups and utensils are clearly poorly cleaned and the food is disgusting. Every time we go, someone gets food poisoning. They are overpriced, rude, and I would discourage anyone from eating here, unless you’d like to spend the whole next day puking your organs out.

Delicious! We were looking for a place to eat and stumbled on Grandma Kim’s on Unilocal. We were seated immediately. We have a one year old so we look for family friendly places to eat. The staff was great and accommodating. We had the BBQ chicken and shirt ribs… they came with Korean side dishes. We loved it! We will definitely be back again and recommend our family and friends. Great customer service and delicious food. Great portions and good timing. Thank you Grandma Kim’s!

Couldn’t decide where to have dinner, so I suggested to my parents to try this place out after reading great reviews. I am sad to say I was very disappointed in our meal here. I was really looking forward to having yummy bulgogi and kalbi with some kimchi stew, but I felt like it just missed the mark. The restaurant needs a face lift. It’s cozy, but the booths are way in need of a makeover. Every time I got up and sat back down, my mom bounced up like she was on a trampoline. Really old seats. I also think it isn’t nice to be seated next to several cases of beer, soft drinks, and napkins. They should find a place to store their Ordering a can of soda and seeing that it cost me $ 1.75 for a can of soda with a 18 pack of cola sitting right next to my table made me immediately regret my decision to pay that much for a single can. We ordered the combo bulgogi, with kimchi soup, seafood pancake regular size, pan fried mackerel, beef knee soup and kalbi. The bulgogi was pretty tasty but I would’ve liked it to have more of a char on it. The seafood pancake was almost like tempura battered. It had a nice crunch to it though and the filling was great and plentiful. The mackerel was over cooked and came out looking extremely dry. My mom said the fish was tough and chewy. The beef soup was also disappointing because the beef was very tough. Also the soup was bland. The kalbi was very well seasoned but I wish the bones weren’t so big. Most of the kalbi consisted of the bones and barely any meat. Our server forgot my kimchi soup but they packed it up for me and upgraded to the a la carte size which was nice! I think this place has seen better days, and there are better options for Korean food elsewhere.

Good quality food, even if it is a little overpriced for what you get. It’s better than all you can eat options, and driving to K-town.

This was my first time eating here and my first time eating Korean food and let me just say it was absolutely phenomenal. Extraordinary cuisine and exceptional service. I will definitely be back.

so we had the dumplings and the spicy pork(not spicy which is fine …) and a beef dish and a chicken one. Wish I recall their names but this place is to DIE for. Even something as simple as rice was great. Fantastic little sides like potatoes and kimchi and I think bamboo shoot. Make sure to try the pomegranate green tea. That just needed a splash of rum lol. Also had the entertainment coupon so very inexpensive

Really nothing to write home about. I go to Korean town frequently but want to check out local options. Well, I did and the conclusion is that I still have to go to Korean town regularly. The comparison is just night and day: Knee bone soup with herbs taste like hot water! It’s not lack of salt, it lacks everything. With all the nice herbs, how did the chef manage to exact all flavor out?! This is still beyond me. Dumping soup: soup itself is full of ready-made seasoning pack flavors. The beef fillings were way pass its prime. Taste foul. No veggies, just unfresh beef balls ugh. Bathroom: super dirty. Way worse than any Korean restaurant I have ever went!

I love the food here. I will keep coming back! It’s just kinda pricey but you get what you pay for. Reason of leaving off 1 star: I got a restaurant coupon. $ 10 for $ 25 worth, min order $ 50. It was fine at first but then when we got our bill there was almost $ 10 «forced» tip. So much for getting the coupon.

If I need Korean food really badly and don’t want to drive far away I go here. I have to say their banchan is limited and boring and I wish it would change from time to time instead of getting the same five over and over. I’ve been here about 7 times now to eat and nothing has changed. The meat is just ok. Sometimes you will get kalbi ribs that are nothing but fat. The cold noodle mil nyang myun is pretty basic and the broth isn’t as flavorful as other places. This is a standard Korean food place but the quality isn’t that spectacular. I also ordered the pan fried mackerel once and it’s smell was less than desirable so I question the freshness of their food. Of course I eat here when I reeaaaalllly need Korean food and I can’t get to my moms but it’s not my favorite.

Stopped here on a whim after getting my nails done and walked in to place a to go order. The waitress showed me their most popular dishes and I ended up ordering a bbq combo plate with spicy chicken and bbq pork, which came with a side plate which consisted of 4 mini sides(kimchi, mash potato, vegetable and I believe sliced pineapple?) it also came with a side of soup and white rice. Food was so delicious! Will definitely be back!

Visited Chatsworth to catch up with an old friend today. Chose one of our old landmarks, Grandma Kim’s which never disappoints. For the lunch special I chose the Spicy sizzling pork which was delicious. You also get all the traditional sides and potato soup. Of the sides my favorites were the pickled bamboo, fried cauliflower, & bean sprout salad, give it a try!

Grandma Kims Family Diner is a family owned restaurant located in The San Fernando Valley(Yay!). Very casual, older looking interior, the place is decorated and covered with torn pages of coloring books –colored in by customers dining(I’m assuming). My dining buddy made a great point, that the art made by the customers gave a sense of the local community and is reaching for that family dining atmosphere. It’s all about perspective, really. With picking ethnic restaurants, I always believed that a restaurant must be of a good quality when the same ethnicity comes in to dine there. If one could make it at home, or employ their mother to make something for them –why go to a restaurant, Makes sense, right?!? Anyhow, there were a handful of Korean’s here to dine for lunch –so I can’t help to admit that I was excited and expecting some good Korean food. I ordered the Seafood Tofu Hot Pot $ 14.99. It was visually appealing, large portion size and was a medium level of spicy. I should also mention the gentleman who was working/serving gave us samples of the Vegetable Pancake while we waited for our meal –that was very generous of him and it tasty too.

One of our GO-TOs! Local’s definitely need to go at least one… And then you’ll probably go many times after that! :D From the very first day, we saw patrons coming and going; and most of those were regulars(can tell by the interaction). They have KBBQ but everything is grilled in the kitchen – personally, I prefer that since it doesn’t get my whole being all smoky smelling. I don’t have to rush home to shower and wash my hair, haha! We’ve had a variety of deliciousness here… Can’t really go wrong. Their BBQ is on the slightly sweet side(I’m more of a savory BBQ gal), so I don’t order their BBQ. Do love their hot pots, bibimbap, and ramen. Just wish they would have pork dumplings – they only have beef dumplings, boo… Their sides are tasty, too! I prefer their sides over most other Korean places – maybe I’m just accustomed to it. Overall, definitely check it out! Local or not, stop by and have a meal!

Finally I found my best Korean rest in Northridge. No need to go to K town any more when I wish to have L. A Kalbi ribs. I highly recommend to try all the bbq combinations, they all good and delicious . Food is great, friendly staff, comfy booths. My only concern are the rug and ceiling, need to change to get the dream Korean B.B.Q.

I love the consistency of the food. However, they are skimping on the amount and quantity of appetizers they initially give but you can ask for more. I go here with the same person and we always get the BiBim Bop Hot pot and the seafood tofu. It’s all so good. We tell ourselves that we need to order something else but we never do.

Very friendly service! The seafood pancake is amazing! As well as the spicy pork and super tender short ribs. The kim chi is so good and seasoned very well. We’re definitely coming back! It’s one of our new favorite places.
