Are you a mac &cheese fan? What about ribs or pulled pork? If you are, then by alleams… please get in Facebook and find Doc Browns BBQ, see where he is and get yourself some awesome comfort food now! My staple with him is the mac & cheese… a thick square layered deep and cheesy with a browned top is so wonderful! And his pulled BBQ pork is quite possibly the best I’ve had here in Asheville. Each bite gives you a little bite of the crunchy browned goodness. I like mine topped with either the the NC vinegar or the SC mustard. They also have a wide variety of sides and drinks to choose from. I urge you to go find this yummy food truck!

Honestly I wasn’t expecting much when I walked up but when I saw the guy ahead of me order the Chucky, I knew I had to try it. It definitely is some of the best shredded beef bbq I’ve had in a LONG time. The burnt tips in there were slightly tough to chew but the flavor was on point! Would definitely come back here. And I’m somewhat a Mac and cheese aficionado and the Mac and cheese pie is fantastic. Try it you won’t be disappointed! Update: just wanted to make a quick update that I had a certain issue with a payment I made and the owner was extremely pleasant and helpful to fix the issue. It’s service and friendliness like this that would make me want to keep returning, it’s a bonus that the food itself is amazing! David you have a fan in me for life.

The food truck we initially booked for our rehearsal dinner fell through at the last minute and we happened to randomly come across Doc Brown’s BBQ. It was such a blessing that the first food truck fell through because Doc Brown’s is AMAZING. Prior to our event, David was such a pleasure to work with in determining the menu and quantity of food needed for our rehearsal dinner. He is a genuine person and passionate about his food. And the food itself was superb. We ordered the pulled pork, three varieties of homemade sauces, veggie and chicken pot pies, coleslaw, mac and cheese and baked beans. The chicken pot pie ran out in what seemed like seconds. Our guests devoured the rest of the food. We were fortunate to have small quantities of food left over and we ended up rationing those leftovers for as long as could.

This place is amazing!!! The pulled pork sandwich is absolutely and completely delicious. The sides are tasty too. Definitely try the potato salad and baked beans. I love the smoked chicken salad. It’s great. The smokey flavor really shines through. Don’t miss this place. It’s at the brew pump on Saturday nights but come early. They sell out quick

Doc Brown’s BBQ might just be the best BBQ in Asheville, if you can find it. Here’s some tips, check out the Brew Pump in West Asheville on Saturdays, it’s known to frequent that parking lot. Also, if you’re lucky, it may be set up outside of the Burger Bar on Friday nights. What makes this BBQ better than all of the rest around? Passion. Personal Conviction. Excitement. Doc Brown’s BBQ is run by the man himself, Doc Brown. From waking up at 5 am to start the smoker, to boiling potatoes to make potato salad, everything is home(okay, food truck) made. You can tell by his energy and enthusiasm for food and specifically great Southern food that he would be smoking meat and experimenting with the perfect slaw recipe even if he weren’t selling it. The greater Asheville area is lucky that he prepares a veritable cornucopia of offerings, and that we get to reap the benefits. Doc Brown offers three types of sauce with his meat, an eastern Carolina vinegar, a western tomato based sauce, and even a South Carolina mustard sauce. His ‘Q is always perfectly smoked with that wonderful amount of hickory sweetness. I haven’t encountered an inedible piece of pork bark yet. Providing back up to the impressively solid BBQ are Doc Brown’s bevy of side dishes. These rotate often, but the standard crowd favorite is the mac and cheese. It isn’t goopy kraft blue box slop, Doc’s mac is solid blocks of well formed golden mac and cheese perfection. On my most recent visit he was offering collards, a recipe he had been working on. I can’t begin to describe how incredible they were without using the phrase«umami bomb». As silly as that is, nothing else can begin to incapsulate how incredibly savory and rewarding each bite of these collards were. Simply the BEST I’ve had outside of my mother’s house. Mom would be proud. I was awe struck. I’d drink the pot liquor by the pint. Should you come across the vinyl wood paneled truck during a jaunt around Asheville you owe it to yourself and your taste buds to stop. Shake Doc Brown’s hand, thank him for what he does, and ask him to fix you a plate.

Well hello. Sometimes I can be in the right location at the right time and there it is. Doc Browns BBQ. Oh yum. BBQ, Mac and cheese pie, ale beans and slaw. It’s delicious! Doc Browns would be an awesome BBQ restaurant in any part of the city. Until then, I’ll keep hitting the food truck.
