Stood outside with no other patrons in sight waiting for them to be «ready» to take my order. Sorry but isn’t a food truck supposed to be somewhat quick? They didn’t acknowledge me standing right there, until I tried asking the gentleman if I could place an order. He held up his finger, but didn’t say anything. Universal gesture for hold the hell on? ;) Note: Perhaps I’m only annoyed by this because of just having been turned away by Bull & Beggar at 6pm on a Monday, but hey when you dream of this delicious cuisine all day long, look for parking for 20 minutes & make your way down this beautiful hill/sidewalk into this plethora of hipsters and amazing hybrid cuisines, you start to get kinda«hangry!» But let’s get to the food. Sadly, they were out of bibimbap,(wahh) so I tried the bulgogi tacos which were delicious. I loved the pico de gallo, very fresh & crispy! These were a hell of a way to send my love affair with meat off with a bang!(Easing my way into a vegan lifestyle, any advice appreciated, folks.) Overall, despite my self-absorbed preface, I would return to & recommend El Kimchi, but not when you haven’t eaten in several, several hours and are in a rush. ;)

I love Korean food, Mexican food, and food trucks, so the fusion of all those was kinda perfect in my eyes! :O I spied them on my way to the hostel I was going to be staying at, so I walked over after I’d checked in and settled my stuffs down. Service was very polite and friendly. :] I had the bulgogi beef tacos(3 street-style tacos) for ~$ 7(if my memory serves me correctly) since I wasn’t feeling extremely hungry. They also have bibimbap, rice bowls, kimchi, burritos and hot dogs though! If you can manage to track this truck down(I think you can probably find out where they’ll be on facebook – I saw em’ again by the River Arts district the following morning!), I’d recommend giving it a try! :]

Combining Mexican and Korean food? GENIUS! We were at Wedge Brewery discussing lunch when El Kimchi rolled up and made the decision for us! I ordered the bulgogi rice bow, While it wasn’t the best bulgogi I’ve ever had, it was freshly made and exactly what i needed to go along with my beer.

El Kimchi is amazing. I would like to share once I ordered the tacos(3 small street style tacos) and immediately dropped it when handed to me by accident(might be clumsiness, might be The Wedge beers in me) but they immediately made it to me again and for free. I will forever be grateful to my taco saviors that is El Kimchi. Also, bi bim bap bulgogi beef is my food spirit animal.

Mixed feelings about this authentic Korean food, food truck. Cool outdoor, no frills vibe with old picnic tables and flat wooden benches, good classic rock music and lots of people hanging out because there’s also a brewery here. Ordered bibimbap, a rice bowl sort of dish with fried egg and several vegetables like kale, carrots, rice, kimchi sauce and another rare veggie. It was quite tasty and hit the spot. So much in fact that I went back to the ordering counter to order just a couple more fried eggs, but the guy wouldn’t do it. «Fried eggs are only served with bibimbap» he said. There was no line and really no good reason for not doing it other than«it’s not on the menu». It’s too bad because it really colored my perspective on this place. I’ve never been to a non franchise restaurant or food truck where you couldn’t make a custom request. I was really disappointed by the order taker refusing to customize my order.

At a birthday party at the Wedge. I hadn’t eaten so I went to the food truck. Not eating meat, my choices were limited. Kimchi is too hot for me so I went with the cheese quesadilla. When I got it, it had so little cheese and none on the end pieces. I took it back and they agreed and made me another. It wasn’t much different but I ate it because I needed to eat something. With past experiences with them I will never eat here again. I will look on line to see the food truck… if it’s them I’ll bring my own.

I would say that this is the best food truck that I’ve been to in AVL. I have only had the Mexi-dog from the mexican side of the menu, and it was good. But the Korean side, it is all so fantastic. The amount for the price is great. The flavors are fresh. They are doing a better job of posting on Facebook their schedule for the week, so that helps. I always seek them out as my go to Food Truck in Asheville.

Wow. This is a pretty solid spot for a quick snack or a quality food truck experience. I figured as much since they’re outside the brew pump 2x a week. The Mexican Korean fusion is on point here and the Korean food is also really solid. I had the taco combo, spicy pork, Spicy chicken and a bulgogi beef. Still tryin to figure out which was my fav but the spicy pork had great smoky flavor to it.

This was one of the BEST food truck dishes I’ve had! I tried the Bibimpap with tofu and it was delicious. Lots of fresh crunchy veggies, some heat, and sweetness from the gochujang sauce. Next time I’ll ask for extra daikon because it add amazing flavor and crunch to the dish. My husband tried the spicy chicken burrito and it was gone in 2 minutes so… I guess he liked it okay.

Just had the the bulgogi torta. It was great. The bread was thin and crispy. We also got the spicy pork burrito which was good(on the sweet side) but not as good as the torta. I usually get the bulgogi tacos which are always spot on, and the dumplings(when they have them) are great.

This food truck is great! This fusion between Mexican and Korean may sound odd, but they turn out some awesome food! We found them in «The Lot“off of Coxe avenue downtown. We tried the bibimbap and the dumplings! Awesome all around! Best bibimbap in town! Fresh and delicious ingredients and the price can’t be beat.

Being from Atlanta, Korean tacos is pretty much a familiar staple in the food scene as far as we’re concerned. My friends ordered the spicy chicken burrito: They both agreed that it was just too much red sauce(gochu jang and sugar) and too little overall goodness in the mouth. Also, the spicy chicken burrito seemed to have everything but actual chicken in it! I ordered the spicy chicken rice bowl(not to get confused with the mixed veggie bibimbap) and for how firey red this entrée looked, it tasted bland and there was barely any heat to it. I give this place a 2.5 stars rounded down overall, because the food was edible and it wasnt the worst Korean fusion you could eat.

A Korean hotdog, say whaaat? These guys were parked outside of Vinnie’s Neighborhood Italian for lunch. I was super happy that Vinnie’s doesn’t serve lunch, cause that Korean hotdog was amazing! My very traditional Korean mother looked at me like I lost my mind when I ordered it, but after she tried it, she went and got one for herself! It’s bulgogi, avocado cream sauce, a beef hot dog, kimchi, chili sauce, and green chili in a yummy, warm bilolli(?) bun. Seriously. Just go get it!

I agree with the other reviews — Excellent food. I’ve spent a fair amount of time in Seoul and the bibimbap is as «real» as it gets. I have not tried the Mexican side of the menu yet, that is next on my list. The preparation is very fast, portions are big — good value for the money. You have to try this truck if you see it in your neighborhood!

Excellent Korean food. Don’t miss the bibimbap — it’s hands down the best thing on the menu(which is confirmed by the fairly frequent«we’re out of bibimbap» sign if you show up too late in the lunch hour). On the Mexican side of things, the pork torta is good.

After seeing this food truck parked around town for the past month, I finally gave it a try. I ordered something off the specials list: a noodle dish(jajang myeon) with vegetables and pork in a rich black bean sauce. I was given a very generous portion in a Styrofoam container; I’ll be eating this for days. I was surprised by how not-spicy it was, even after a liberal application of chili garlic sauce. The flavor of the black sauce takes over any flavor you might have gotten from the unidentifiable vegetables(onion? carrot??), but the flavor from the bits of pork shone through nicely. In a nutshell, I enjoyed it(especially for under $ 10), but wasn’t blown away. However, I’m eager to try the other dishes on the menu, especially the hybrid Mexican-Korean dishes that give El Kimchi its name: items like traditional Mexican tortas and tacos with Korean flavors. And the service was fast and friendly. Would I recommend giving it a try? Sure.

One Korean food review deserves another right? I had a chance to check out El Kimchi last week, and I’m happy I did. I opted 3 tacos, 2 beef and 1 pork. I started with the pork and was quite pleased, but as soon as I bit into the beef taco I felt like a sucker. I should have ordered a beef burrito with an extra side of beef, dipped in beef, wrapped in beef. The beef is that good. Seriously, words can describe just how wonderful, tasty, and well prepared it is. It’s a fairly mobile truck, so tracking it down can be a chore, but it’s well worth it. I also highly suggest adding«Caramelized Kimchi» to whatever you order, it’s a wonderful addition.
