The worst Safeway I have ever been to. Routine 10 – 15 minute lines. Badgering about donations when they are doing one of their tax writeoff things. Last time I was there: three lines of 4 — 5 people. The cashier was joking around with a friend in line and after 10 minutes simply left us all waiting with no explanation. If you go, try to avoid any time between 2 and 9:00PM. I only go there when I am desperate. One positive is that that they usually have a decent fruit section.

So we moved last year from Sherwood to Canby. I always shopped at Safeway in Sherwood, as it has a great selection and is really nice. I have tried all the local stores in Canby. My preference is Safeway. They don’t have the biggest selection, but they make up for it with the staff! Ricky, the Bakery Manager goes out of his way every time I am in the store to say hello. My husband recently had an issue here, and when I let them know, the store manager personally apologized and gave me a gift card. He didn’t need to do that, but the gesture was appreciated. The store could use a better selection and some updating, but the people are fantastic!

It’s a grocery store that sells food. I don’t shop here but was in town and needed some GROCERIES! They provided that. We mainly shop at Safeway to get discounts at the gas pump. Can’t say anything negative or positive. They did their job and that makes me happy

It’s convenient and the floral department rocks. I can’t put my finger on why I don’t like the Canby store very much – maybe the dated interior; perhaps the creepy marketing of reading my name and intoning,“Thank you Mrs. Flora.” Whatever it is, this store is always my last choice in Canby – unless I wAnt stunning, fresh flowers.

Good customer service. BUT under staffed. I will no longer shop here, wait in line for 15 min or deal with parking at Freddie’s. Freddie’s it is. I understand this location isn’t making money, but it’s not making money because it takes over 15 min to grab a beverage.

I should have known better. Hungry, wife out of town and didn’t want cook. Went to canby to get Mexican takeout but the line was to long. What next safeway deli for Chinese takeout. Tried the one in lake oswego and it was okay. Big mistake the mongolian beef seemed to be made with rubber bands and the kung pao chicken had the texture of chalk but chalk taste better. Terrible flavor and threw out all that remained which was about 80%. Should have gone to the Thai restaurant next to safeway which is always great.

We can all agree that Safeway sucks, right? I don’t know what it is about them, but they are all basically the same. One checker who seems like they are still in training. Sandwich makers who have no idea how to make the sandwiches on their menu, deli workers who don’t know how to work the turkey slicer. It’s unbelievable. I find this occurs every time I run in to Safeway«real quick». Nothing is real quick. The positive? The staff are generally friendly. This Safeway is completely outdated. No coffee and no drugs. I don’t know how they have stayed in business this long. While I said the staff is generally friendly, the sandwich people at the Canby store absolutely hate their life. I love sandwiches. I freaking LOVE them. And Safeway sandwiches are some of my favorite. Unfortunately, after about 11 too many times of being either flat out ignored, eyes rolled at, deep sighs, or a just plain snarky attitude, I will no longer indulge in my favorite sandwich in Canby. I guess I should be glad. I save about ten bucks a week. I have nervously, anxiously, tried to give it another shot a handful of times over the last couple years, but I swear I can feel the laser beam death stares of those deli workers before I enter the door. I usually get visual confirmation when I round the corner in to their line of sight, where I quickly turn on my heels and exit the building. Sandwiches aside, this Safeway is particularly awful. Morning, noon, night, there is only one checker. One slow checker. Whether there are 20 customers or just two, you are going to invest some serious time here. Speaking of noon, if you go when the high school is on lunch break, be prepared for a full on TSA-style pat down or leave your purse behind at the door. They have got some serious security at that time of the day. I wish they would put one or two of those people on checker duty. If they added a Starbucks, I might be more inclined to bump this place up to 3 stars. Maybe a coffee would make the experience tolerable. Probably not.

What I don’t like about Safeway stores in general is the way they list prices in their newspaper ads. Most say that you can save«Up To» x-$, if you buy a 2nd at half-price, but they don’t actually tell you what the sale price is. We went to check out a special on bakery goods, & once there, decided that the special wasn’t very special.

This is one of the bastard children of Safeway. No money goes into updating it, there’s no Starbucks and no Rx.

This is more of the old school type of Safeway I am used to. I have gotten spoiled by the fancy schmancy type of Safeway in the Tri-Valley. Prices here are so much better on some things than CA, but some produce is more. We stopped in on our way home from shopping for milk and ice cream that the MIL loves and can only be found here. It happened to be a BOGO so she was pleased. Customer service was fine-nothing special. Glad to know I can get my Lucerne and Select items when I need them!
