Terrible! Mediocre! Bad food! Not sure how else to qualify it. Simply bad! Expensive. Decent perky service but never refilled water glasses. Shame because the town could use a good place to eat, but Nick’s isn’t the place. Fire the chef and find someone who can cook. Wouldn’t mind the prices if they gave good value, but they don’t.

This is a great place to dine«upscale» in Canandaigua. Good atmosphere, ample menu, piano music some evenings and attentive service. Salad now comes wth entrée, but get a side to share, the risotto is excellent. The ½ lb. crab legs is a nice treat on Monday, Tuesday nights. We enjoyed it on our last visit, but the prime rib is hard to pass up! We have found the service here to be excellent usually. Great place for a «date night», not a place to bring the«kiddies».

Outstanding! Finally got the chance to try this place. A few hiccups… but our server and the owner(Nick?) made the evening absolutely perfect! The steaks were great and the service was spectacular! Can’t say enough to tell you what a great evening we had!

We had an incredible experience at Nick’s Chophouse! Starting with a Bushwacker’s martini and Naked Dive IPA to the amazing house made ranch dressing to the side dishes of au gratin potatoes to the prime rib and rack of lamb to ending with Peanut Butter Cup pie. Every part of our meal was fantastic! Owners Peter and Nick are great hosts! You must try this place! Tucked away in a side street but so worth it!

i took my boyfriend there for his birthday and it was really good. We started with the flatbread of the day, which was a chicken bacon ranch flatbread. It was delicious and cheesy. For dinner, my boyfriend got the filet wrapped in bacon and the twice baked potatoes. The filet was cooked perfectly and my boyfriend really liked it. I had the steakhouse alfredo with scallops. Tthe scallops were delicious, and those are always something I’m worried about. We shared a crème brûlée for dessert, which was also very good. My boyfriend’s only complaint was their lack of beer selection. My negative was the location. It was nice on the inside, the outside looked kinda sketchy. Overall, we’ll be back again and will likely send my boyfriends parents there(who live in the area) for a special location

I’ve been to Nick’s Chophouse numerous times. I just cannot get enough of the food or the staff. They are friendly the second you walk in. Greeting you and making sure they accommodate to what you would like. The sides are incredible especially the cream spinach. I’ve had the tuna, bacon wrapped filet and blackened shrimp. All of them were cooked to perfection with great presentation. My family enjoys the atmosphere where we can have a drink first and then be seated for dinner. Nicks chophouse is just the place. I only wish they served one thing. An Espresso option for coffee!!!

I have been to Nick’s 3 times now and each time all has been great … Two of the 3 times I had the ribeye steak which is just fab … cooked perfectly … good temperature. one other time I had the prime rib. good flavor and again cooked perfectly. Not to be over looked at this place are the side dishes for the meals … incredible. I overheard the owner say that the sauce recipe was his mothers and that he makes fresh himself. Well its very good. Appetizers are also good … the flat breads have wonderful taste. Is it pricey … it can be … but I am willing to pay for atmosphere, good service and good quality. We don’t have many places like Nicks in the Rochester area.

Went to Nick’s Chophouse for Valentine’s Day and it was great! The bartender made a chocolate covered strawberry martini that was amazing! We were seated right on time and the waitress was very attentive. The calamari was delicious. We also had the prime rib, which was cooked perfectly. The creamed Spinach and side of mushrooms were also great. We took home a piece of chocolate cake and it was rich and flavorful. A rose at the end of our dinner was a nice touch. Will definitely be back!

Tried Nick’s Chophouse last night and was not impressed. Ordered the duck and prime rib. The salads came out and the blue cheese dressing tasted like mayonnaise with some fish flavor, no chunks. Did not eat salad. The bread was served with butter which has way to much garlic mixed in. No regular butter was offered. The prime rib was heavily seasoned to the point of not allowing the flavor of the meat to be enjoyed. The meat was chewy. The duck was ok but not what I expected. Part was done well and the other part was not. It did not fall off the bones and made me think I should have ordered something else. The side was a twice baked potato and it was large but seemed like it was sitting around awhile. Ate a small portion and tried to give the rest away to the group. The two items were $ 65 without drinks and there are many better restaurants to spend your money and get a much better meal.

Not that impressed. Visited there a couple weeks ago and I would also describe this place as mediocre at best. Moreover, the prices were astronomical relative to the atmosphere. The food quality was very good but not by any stretch worth the prices. For example, several of us got fillets and I found a few days later that the fillets at Richardson’s Canal House Restaurant were several dollars cheaper(with a LOT more atmosphere). Also, our occasion for dining was the birthday celebration birthdays for two of our party. We ordered a couple of deserts — and for our birthday congratulations, they stuck a candle in one of the deserts.. . whoopee! Not a great way to win a regular customers(or even a return visit). With some changes, this place has some potential, but not without some improvement in customer courtesy and some price adjustments.

Six of us had dinner on a recent Saturday night at Nick’s. We arrived a little early and enjoyed a pre-dinner cocktail at the very nice bar. When we indicated we were ready to sit down we were taken to the rear dining room, which is just off of the bar area. Although the front dining room appeared to be busy, we had the back room to ourselves. We started with 3 different appetizers which we shared among the table and all 3 were delicious. For our entrees, we had 3 different steaks(mine was the filet) and 3 prime rib dinners. The steaks were all cooked as requested and very, very good. The owner stopped by during our dinner, which is always a nice touch, and spent a few minutes getting to know us. We finished our dinners with coffee all around and a shared Snickers peanut butter pie, which all enjoyed. Nick’s is a very nice spot and I look forward to going back soon. Give them a try, I think you’ll like it.

Had dinner there last night. I’ve been there when it was the Mexican restaurant and the physical changes were great. Expanded bar area with great lighting and much more. Would I go back, yes. Here’s why: –The atmosphere was fantastic –The staff was super friendly and helpful and accommodating –All the food was delicious. My fiancés steak wasn’t actually cooked right but she feels bad sending it back. She asked for it medium well and it came out fairly rare. But she said it was so good she could eat it anyway. Baked potato was good but I’d wished for mashed. And steamed broccoli was great. –the restaurant was not that busy but we still got seated next to a window. I was disappointed thinking I would be cold but I couldn’t even tell. Comfortable environment. I hope they will change: –hire someone to expand your wine list. Half the red wine was California Cab. Find Simone at Apogee in Roc, I’m sure she could help. –as nice of a place as it was with the price tags that it does, you shouldn’t have paper on the table. It’s not Texas Road House. Buy some extra table cloths and change them if they need. –but being a steak house I feel the options for steak could be improved, eat dinner at Char in Roc and you’ll see nice options. This wasn’t exactly reportable but something that could have been handled differently… Long story short they forgot to bring our salads, ok no big deal. Asked us if we would still like them even though the steaks were out or if there was anything else they could do. I said not now, knowing I’d be looking at the dessert menus later. Ordered dessert and coffee, it would have been nice if maybe the $ 4 coffee was comped because of the salad. Pay a little more attention and that kinda little thing takes it from a good meal to a good meal with great customer service. Anyway, keep doing the good things and change a couple others and you’re sure to be a destination spot for all the lake people next summer.

Worst date night ever. Our jaws dropped when the shrimp dish came out, thought we were on MTV’s ‘punked.’ There is nothing in the world you can do to justify 5 lonely shrimp on a plate for $ 25. You have been warned.

Went to Nick’s Chophouse on the recommendation of a few friends. Started off with a Painkiller Martini… multiple juice infused martini… very fruity and flavorful. Ordered seafood bisque for an app. Was enjoying it until I was midway through a spoonful and felt something crunch. I spit out a piece of hard plastic that resembled a fish hook. The waitress was right there when this happened and did try to offer a new bowl but I soldiered through as I am not one to make waves. Main course came out and the prime rib was stone cold… like I could chill a drink with it cold. The waitress took the prime rib back and brought out a fresh piece that was up to temp. When I got the bill I had to remind the waitress about the seafood bisque and was hoping that some sort of remedy for having to wait for the prime rib to come back out… I wasn’t looking to have the meal completely comped but an offer of a drink or a dessert sure would have been appreciated. The owner/manager came over begrudgingly after being asked by the waitress to come over. He was very hostile and was not real receptive to listening to my complaint and pretty much dismissed my complaint with the exception of the soup. If you wanted to be treated like your business isn’t appreciated visit Nick’s Chophouse… I’m very disappointed that I was made to feel that my business was not appreciated and the owner could have seemed to care less… poor customer service like that won’t garner you much repeat business.

Everything we had, from apps to steak was delicious. Perfectly made martinis, by a great bartender and great conversation. Ask Pete about the upcoming happy hour specials.
