This was just okay. We stopped in for lunch after visiting my fiancée’s grandmother before we started our long drive back home to Maine. The bar when we walked in was beautiful, but there were no «seat yourself» signs so we stood there awkwardly for a minute, until the(host? Busser?) Told us to have a seat wherever. The deck was open so we asked to sit outside, and it was nice. They’ve got a pretty big menu, but we decided to start off with poutine and boneless wings. The poutine was alright– the fries were crispy and it was hot, but the gravy was definitely from a mix or can(which wasn’t a big deal, just something to note). Wings were yummy! Nice and crispy but the important part was the sauce– we split the order with half teriyaki and half Jack daniels sauce. The teriyaki was good but the Jack daniels was awesome! You could really taste the bourbon! He got a prime rib philly cheese steak for his lunch, which came with a side of au jus. The steak itself was under seasoned and a bit greasy. Decent, but nothing to write home about. I got the Jack daniels burger, rare with extra cheese. The burger was perfectly rare, but the entire thing tasted like charcoal. You could pick off the black spots like they haven’t cleaned their grill in a while! It really ruined it for me. The sauce was fine, but they didn’t melt the cheese, and it was just an overall disappointment. The sauce was fine. The(host? Busser?) Was really pleasant. The server was nice enough but missed the basics, like introducing himself, welcoming us, and asking how the food was. I told him that the burger tasted like charcoal and asked him to take it away. No apology, no offer to take it off the check, nothing. We told him we’d like the bill. They didn’t take the burger off or discount it. Never even got an apology, we paid and left. It was okay. The highlight was the Jack daniels wings. Everything else was mediocre. I’d probably go back for a few drinks, because the bar was nice, but not for lunch again.

This restaurant has a lot of seating available. It is clean and nice inside, and various options on their menu. Their burgers are quite large and flavorful. Their wings are delicious! The last time I went I got a buffalo chicken finger wrap, yummy! I always come here when in towns

Meh… sums it up. Ok for a beer or two. Salads are good. Sandwiches are dry. Wings are alright.

Went there for lunch yesterday and it was great. Our bartender was a good sport tolerating myself and my friends jokes. The burgers were excellent, but the kicker was the fries, outstanding. She kept my pepsi full, wish it was Coke. They have a great selection of beers, next time I will have a couple. Going back again soon.

We waited at least 20 mins for our drink order to be taken so we were able to put in our order for food as well. 20 minutes later or drinks made it out. We ordered 2 appetizers and 1 came within a reasonable time while the other one came with our meals a good 45 minutes later. I got the bacon cheeseburger which was good enough. All of our fries were cold. My daughter got plain pasta and it was so soggy she wouldn’t eat it. Overall it was a frustrating experience and I think we’ll find somewhere else to eat next time.

We happened across this place on the Canandaigua food tour, glad we found it. The building has a lot of history. When you arrive you get a chance to step back in time with the décor and tin roof, which makes you really think of being in an Irish pub. The place is clean, busy and has wide open spaces. You can sit by the window and people watch. The service is great, friendly and fast. So let’s get to the food. I LOVE Reuben sandwiches, my husband hates sauerkraut, but… he loved the Reuben and so did I! It was well made and well balanced in flavor… I would recommend it! The fries were fresh, crispy and tasty. They are the battered fries which are great! Go here for anytime, it won’t disappoint!

Asian salad very dry w sparse sesame tasting dressing topped with large chunks of Feta cheese was a terrible combination of flavors. It was obviously thrown together. My sister had a shrimp pasta scampi dish which was a huge portion with spaghetti that had not been properly drained this her pasta was waterlogged. Pasta fagiole was thickened bouillon with a few white beans n spinach leaves thrown in. We waited 15 minutes for our order to be taken and another 15 to receive the food. Wait staff were rushed n all together 4 – 5 different people served food. Just a terrible dining experience. Don’t waste your money. I suppose a burger might be ok but a Big Mac is a more reliable choice.

Food was disappointing tuna salad tasted like it had vinegar and it french fries are fake –pressed and battered. Friends meatball for sandwich was big but he thought the meatballs were made with too much bread another friend had a club sandwich which looked very good I can see why this place has mixed reviews because some items look good while others are not very appealing. Iced tea tasted like it was fountain I would not be in any hurry to go back

Excellent food and service. Our server was attentive and took care of our dietary needs. Chicken Pesto Wrap was soooooo good. So was the Chicken Smoked Mozzarella sandwich.

In March I visited family in Naples, NY. We were looking online for a restaurant with a variety on their menu and chose to go to Eddie O’Brien’s for dinner. There were 5 of us and we were all very pleased with the yummy food, service and ‘old time’ atmosphere. A couple weeks later, my sister and I were in Canandaigua and decided to go there for lunch. We enjoyed it just as much the second time around!

Service was fine. THe philly cheesesteak was pretty bad. The fries were OK, I guess. I don’t care for fries that have that fried tater tot consistency. The mozzarella sticks were too small in length and just OK.

We stopped by Canandaigua on the way home from the races in Watkins Glen. After a weekend of grilling everything we ate or eating something out of a package, I really just wanted something fresh with flavors that didn’t consist of fake cheese powder or bottled ketchup. We had originally planned on going to a diner called Patty’s down the street, but they were closed that afternoon. We ended up at Eddie’s mostly because they were the only restaurant open. The Greek salad that my boyfriend and I split was fresh and just what I wanted. It was piled almost too high with feta, but this was an easy enough problem to resolve. For the main course, I had half of a deli sandwich(roast beef on rye with tomatoes and lettuce) and a cup of clam chowder. The chowder was delicious, while the sandwich was a little bland. I took some of the feta cheese that had been relegated to the side of my plate and added this to the sandwich, as well as a piece of onion from my dining mate’s burger. The MacGyver ingredients made the sandwich a lot tastier. Service was fine, food was okay. The restaurant itself and bathrooms were clean with high ceilings and interesting décor. Overall, the experience was just average enough to be forgettable.

I’m not sure when I became old and started minding loud music, but it has happened and it is sure darn loud at Eddie O’Brien’s. However, the food isn’t bad and on our last visit our server was great so I can overlook the noise. I enjoyed the cajun fried haddock(which appeared to be a piece of fried haddock with some cajun seasoning sprinkled on after frying, but with a nicely seasoned sauce). The burgers here are also very good – nice and thick and juicy. The reubens are good as well.

Not sure why there are so many bad reviews. I have never had a bad experience here. I have ordered several different things from the menu — mostly burgers and sandwiches — and every time my food has been delicious. It can get a little loud in here with the bar and the live music on certain days. So don’t come in here to sit down and have a serious conversation. It’s a bar, you get a bar-like atmosphere, and if you were expecting something else I don’t know how to help you. My advice? Ignore bad reviews and give this place a chance. In addition, there is another location on route 96 that has a more open seating arrangement if the noise in this location bothers you a lot. Food quality at the Route 96 location is exactly the same. I highly recommended either place. In brief, the service has always been great and the food delicious. I keep coming back for more.

Had the blackened tilapia Ruben. Amazing. Have always enjoyed this place. Came with a party of 6 and service was good. Food was a bit slow to come out but it was good and everyone was content. It’s a bit loud in here and the lighting is not great. It’s a nice location.

Had been passing by this due to only fair to bad food experiences in the past. Also the acoustics are terrible so when a loud band starts up it is impossible to have a conversation in the dining area. Note to owner — small acoustic bands — good, loud composite bands with drums — bad. However I though I’d give it another try after a long hiatus and I must say the food has greatly improved. I had one of the best Reubens I’ve ever had with stacks of corned beef and just the right flavor. The chicken chowder soup was delicious with tons of tasty chicken chunks. My wife’s chicken salad sandwich was very satisfying and my daughter loved her wrap. The service was fast though there was hardly anyone in the dining area late and mid week. I think they must have gotten a new chef or something because it was definitely up several notches from the last time I’ve been there. This is a great place to gather with friends and larger groups as they are always accommodating for large groups I’d recommend it & will put it higher on my rotation list.

Its a sports bar and burger joint. Nothing special here. Okay burgers, cold beer, lots of screens, okay prices. Can be loud. Service is average. Good parking and central location. predictably average.

We visited Eddie O’Briens restaurant in Canandaigua, NY for my boyfriend’s birthday. There were 4 adults in our party. The menu states«FRESH haddock». When the waitress came over to take our orders, I asked her to be sure — this is FRESH haddock, right? Not frozen? She said no, it’s fresh. So, I ordered the Fish ‘n’ shrimp, with scallops. I absolutely love seafood, so I was excited to try their fish. When our order finally arrived, I was shocked at what my dish looked like. The scallops were burnt, there were 3 pieces of shrimp, and most importantly, my «fresh» haddock looked like a piece of cardboard. It was completely FLAT. I picked the entire piece up with 2 fingers, it was solid as a rock. There was NOWAY this was fresh. My scallops were so burnt, I had to remove the burnt breading and just ate the scallops inside. I eat fish fry’s all the time. The entire slab of what they called fish, was about ½ an inch thick, and completely flat. The entire piece. I took ONE small bite of the fish, and it was DISGUSTING. My boyfriend called the waitress over, which took forever to get her to come to our table. We told her how bad the fish was, and she gave us these excuses: «I don’t eat fish, so I don’t know what fresh fish looks like» «The fish is usually fresh, they must have run out and used old frozen stuff» «I promise you, it’s usually fresh and usually doesn’t look like that» Ummm, ok. Well, it DOES look like this now, and it DOES taste worse than cardboard, so what are you going to do about it? You could tell she was annoyed at the situation with us, and was borderline rude to us. She asked me if I wanted something else, but by this time, everyone else at the table was finished eating, and I didn’t want them to wait for them to cook me something else and then sit there and watch me eat. So I told her I didn’t want anything else, but I wasn’t paying for my meal. She said«I will take a little off your bill» and walked away. My mom also asked for a box to bring home the rest of her burger. It took her over 15 minutes to bring the box. When we FINALLY got our bill, she took off $ 5. My meal was $ 14.99. I ate 3 little pieces of shrimp, and 4 pieces of scallops that I had to take the breading off of because they were burnt. I couldn’t eat the fish whatsoever. We all argued with her that taking $ 5 off was NOT sufficient, as I could not eat my meal. We asked for a manager and she told us «there is no manager». We continued to tell her that taking $ 5 off our bill was not good enough. She said she would see what she could do, and again walked away. We waited… waited… and waited some more. Another 15 minutes or so, and my boyfriend finally went to the bar and asked where our bill was. She told him they were on the phone with a manager and trying to figure out what to do. A different girl came back to our table, and said she took another $ 5 off our bill, but that’s the best they could do, because«they are really funny about voids on the register». She also made the comment«well you did eat some of your food». Seriously? I ate the very few bites on my plate that were edible! She was a little snotty too. She tells us «no one else has ever complained about the fish before.»(mind you, our waitress told us she’s never seen the fish look like that before). There were all young kids working in there — one reason I’m sure why the service was so bad. They were not budging on the $ 10 off, she even said she spoke to the manager on the phone and she said to just give us $ 10 off, that’s it. Just as we were getting ready to leave, our waitress came over to give us her apology, but it was obvious the only reason was so she would get a tip. So apparently, they would rather lose 4 customers here than comp my disgusting meal they placed in front of me. And that’s just what they did. Had they been professional about this, and done the right thing, we would continue to dine at Eddie O’Briens. But I can tell you that NONE of the 4 of us will ever step foot in another Eddie O’Briens restaurant again. They lost us as customers, and the potentional customers of everyone we tell about our horrible service and food at their restaurant. And as a blogger, I intend to tell everyone I know. Want proof of my review? I even show pics on my blog post here:

I was a little nervous to visit this restaurant because of the negative Unilocal reviews, but my family said it was great, and there were only a few reviews, so I got over it. When you enter the restaurant, it is very busy, so clearly a lot of people enjoy this place. It seems to have a good bar vibe, although I felt that everyone was staring at me when I entered, which made me feel like an outsider. Don’t really have an explanation for this??? I did like the sports bar atmosphere. They had a lot of cool unique items for different sports teams, which I appreciated. The food: Nachos– huge plate of nachos with everything was a great share for the four people. Chicken Salad Sandwich– eh, very unimpressed with this, and I didn’t even finish my sandwich. French fries– these were fantastically seasoned and perfectly crispy. Basically, I would come here as a bar, but probably not for dinner again. There are probably better things on the menu, but I’d rather not experiment.

Stopped by last week for a meal. Got rave reviews from family who I was visiting so thought to check it out. A little worried after the reviews on Unilocal but I trust family. Had a $ 1.50 Blue Light which is a steal compared to home in NYC. Ordered the Jack Daniel’s Cajun Creole Chicken sandwich. Was pretty good and tasty. A little dry but the red pepper creole mayo was good to dip in. Could taste the smoky flavors and the cheese on top made it good. The best part was their french fries. Wow they were good. I’d stop by just for the fries. Seasoned, well fried and not too overdone but crispy. I’d love to have some of those again. We also all shared the nachos which were good and plentiful. Good to share among four people. I’d recommend this place for good bar food and a place to watch a game. I don’t know if I’d want to try any fancy foods, as this is probably not a place that specializes in it but it has a long bar, lots of tv’s and is definitely sports themed. Given the option, I’d consider stopping in again for food and drinks.
