I had the beer battered cod sandwich with fries. I’m a big fan for fries and these were cut thicker but honestly maybe the best fries I’ve had. My sandwich was much larger than what I expected. It was delicious and reasonably priced. My mom had the bourbon fig chicken and said her meal was fantastic. Service was also very good. Needles to say, we will be going back soon.

Went here a few weeks ago. Girl had the caprese focaccia sandwich which i normally love but avoid unless its at least mid-summer because out of season tomatoes suck. The focaccia was really good. I had their burger. Ordered it medium and got well. Fortunately, it was not dry and we had someplace to be after dinner so i did not send it back or complain. Aside from it being overcooked, it was a tasty burger. Cant give this place 4 stars. When you go to a place like this with their higher than average prices, you should expect to get a higher than average meal, which includes getting your burger as you ordered it. I did not. 3 stars. I did have a bright/refreshing ginger beer they had on tap. Good choice for early summer. Also, loved the painting of the monkey smoking a cigarette.

Limited wine selection but what they had was decent. Food was really good and service was super friendly but a touch on the slower side. Prices were reasonable. Not the most attractive atmosphere but would definitely eat here again.

Another independently owned local gem. Always try the featured specials! However, they have a small but varied café style menu. Some of the BEST specials I have enjoyed include Chipino, Walleye baked in white wine sauce and rice, pumpkin soup, carrot ginger soup, and the deserts are homemade. Their steak cuts are from local vendor Blystone Farms, and server Joe, always makes the experience even more special!

Whatever you think Village Wines is like, you’re probably off base. If you think it’s like one of the flashier, big menu’d, lots of bottles, wine and food places — it’s not. If you’re thinking it’s upscale and unafforable — it’s not. If you think it’s too small town to be good, you’re wrong. Village Wines will surprise you. It’s casual enough to feel comfortable in jeans. You can drink great wine, hang out on the patio and listen to acoustic music, or you can just come for a great meal that rises well above the area’s chain restaurants and bar food kind of places. The flatbreads are a great starter. The asian salmon I had was pretty close to perfect. The sandwiches are consistently delicious and the pork chop is something to write home about. Hats off to the chef for maintaining a great menu and bringing a touch of class to downtown Canal Winchester.

What to say… Wine selection: good Staff: nice Pricing: not so hot Food: blaggghhh Short and sweet: tried this place when it was up on Waterloo Street and should have permanently learned my lesson there. The name & location change to historic Canal made me think this was an all new place but really they just moved. Tried it again & still a disappointment. The staff is friendly and it’s fairly roomy with a nice patio but the fun seems to stop there. I know wine isn’t cheap but sheesh you could go broke just trying to quench your thirst here. The worst part though was the food. The items we ordered tasted like they came straight out of a 1980’s used microwave with less than decent ingredients. Will not be going back.

I really love the food, the staff is very nice. Could use an iron on the shirts, the shorts don’t look right on a server in a restaurant with linen table cloths. I’d go a couple times a week if the menu every changed. When they do have a special is over priced. What they do have is very very good. becareful of the cork fee. A $ 10.00 bottle of wine to go. To drink it with your dinner is $ 20.00. They call it a cork fee.

Once we got in the door this was a pleasant surprise. Unfortunately they didn’t feel the need to shovel or salt their sidewalk which is strange for a small town restaurant. This place has great potential though with a creative menu and friendly staff. Just can’t forget the small things!

This was our second visit and it was our second great experience. I had soup, salad, crab cakes and cheesecake. All were excellent. My wife had all the same, except her entrée was the mushroom ravioli. Her food was well prepared too. Our server, Christopher was competent and attentive. We ate on the patio on a beautiful night. Only downside was we seated 5 feet away from the only 2 smokers outside, who smoked Marlboros between every course of their meals. Be warned if you choose the patio. Since the vast number of diners were not smoking and eating, the restaurant should consider a total no smoking policy. I don’t think it would hurt their business. It may actually enhance it.

My husband and I went to Village Wines Saturday April 27. Joey was our server and he was fabulous! He was very attentive and personable. We sat in the bar area so that we could look outside. Next time I hope it to be warmer so that we may sit on the patio. We started with the calamari which was probably the best I’ve had eaten. I had the steak salad which I ordered medium and it was perfect! My husband had the dinner special, a full rack of ribs with steak fries and chipotle cole slaw. Everything was delicious! I am definitely going back again and again! I highly recommend the Village Wines Bistro for any event, date night, friends night or even family night.

Village Wines is a cute little shopped tucked away in what I would consider historic Canal Winchester. After the busy week I had and the upcoming busy weekend, we all knew anything with«wine» in the title would be appropriate. In case your wondering parking is easy. Pull in behind the restaurant and you will find multiple lots with plenty of parking. Village Wines has also made it even easier by putting a awning at their back entrance so you know exactly which door to head in. Upon entering you will first notice the nice bar. Many people were sitting in this area at the tables against the windows or at the bar. I suspect many people just wanted to enjoy the sunshine, since all the tables in the bar area were full. After letting them know how many we had, we were in and seated in no time. Shortly there after the waitress came over with our drinks. For wine we tried various different kinds, forgive me if I don’t quite remember. When it came to the food, everything was excellent. The appetizers, artichoke dip and the lettuce wraps, were both great. If I came here again I might considering ordering one of these items just as my meal, based on quality and size. And my salad, the Chicken Pesto Salad was beyond amazing! In fact everyone at the table very much enjoyed their meals. The food here all looked amazing and for each of us, it was hard to choose. As a note, I’m taking away a star for the time it took for us to get in and out. We were with children and while they were great about getting their food out quickly, it took a very long time to get our meals out. By the time our food arrive the kids were having a hard time sitting and being quite. Overall Village Wines is a very cute place that should I be back in the area soon, I will frequent. Their outdoor patio looks great, so that would be something I would love to try.

Visited V. Wines this past week, early dinner and only one waiter but the service was great, much improved from my last visit in December. Food continues to be fabulous and the ambiance is relaxed. I love it here.

I have heard really good reviews about this place since before they moved to this new location, so decided it was time to give it a try. I had salmon and it was cooked perfectly. The portion was sufficient, not too little, not too much. The wait staff was decent, although they could have been a bit more attentive. It their defense, it was pretty busy that night. The wine selection was awesome. I will definitely be going back.

Service is always friendly, food is consistently good. I have gone for lunch and dinner many times, never any issues. My favorites are the dinner salads which are so big I can barely finish them! They do an excellent job here!

Village wines is a pleasant surprise tucked away in the sleepy, comfortable suburb of Canal Winchester. Situated just barely off the road in what I’m pretty sure is a well-disguised double wide, this restaurant delivers fresh, delicious food casually; almost like it has no idea how good it is. We took a table on the quaint and comfortable patio. The menu was full of surprises: Seasoned shrimp sauteed and served with an ‘orange and red onion salad,’ baked goat cheese with apricot jelly, Chianti braised brisket. I looked around again to make sure I was, indeed, still in CW. In a trailer. I was. The most important part: The food here is great. I had a buffalo chicken hoagie. I’m a sucker for anything buffalo, and this sandwich was not a disappointment. Roasted, shredded chicken smothered in buffalo sauce, mozzarella cheese and served on what I think is a sourdough hoagie bun. Aside from just being good sandwich, I must point out that the bread was startlingly good. No soft, spongy commercial buns for this place. I would say that I suspect they bake their own, but I don’t want to be too fanatical. It’s good. It’s 7 bucks. It comes with a small salad that is worth that much itself. One companion ordered a Greek salad that probably could have buried her. It, too, was delicious. Another friend ordered the roast beef sandwich on herbed foccacia with bleu cheese and caramelized onions. Aside from confusing ‘sauteed’ with ‘caramelized,’ this sandwich was absolutely wonderful. Again, how is the bread at this place so good? The wine selection is good, but I’m not picky. I guess it had better be good, since this restaurant doubles as a wine store. I glanced at a couple of bottles on the way out, and the prices seemed reasonable there, too. Go! You’ll enjoy it.

Having known this area well, sometimes I still can’t get over that this used to be a vets office. I had brought my animals here many time and(I’m sure its in my head) I sometimes think I can smell the disinfectant smell! I went here hoping to try out their wines which I had heard so much good about. We ate on the patio as it was still warm with the sun out even with a slight chill in the air. We ordered 2 starters and when she served the 1 we asked about the other one. She had forgotten to put the order in. She said she would submit it then. I ordered a glass of wine to go with my main and she served it then. It was OK but not anything wonderful. The main course of a goat’s cheese sandwich was not worth the price and even after eating my main, she still hadn’t brought us the other appetizer. She didn’t bring that until the end of the meal when we were finished and ready to go home. She did box it up but it would have been nice to have with our meal. Their wine selection in the store was good. They had many of the varieties that I always look for and would probably go back for the wine selection but not the food.
