I’ve known Mike for close to 10 years now. He is amongst the best in the industry. Their company is family owned (Mikes Father started Modern Landscaping back in the 70s) and they’ve won numerous awards for their work over the years. They have long standing history of creating breath taking landscapes.

Modern Landscaping installed all of the hard– and soft– landscaping as per my landscape architects drawings, and they did a fantastic job. This was two years ago, and my garden and all of the elements (gas firepit, outdoor kitchen, water feature, lighting, french drain, etc, etc) still work perfectly. They did a fantastic job with the remodel. Every member of his crew were professional, punctual, very detail-​oriented, and answered all of my questions, no matter how many. Modern’s crew also does the weekly maintenance. They go above and beyond the mow and blow, and they really know their plants and how to care for them. I’ve had to replace some plants that the landscape architect recommended, and Mike was spot on in picking plants that would thrive in my yard.

We had an entire backyard /​driveway side strip
remodel including hardscape, walking paths, planting beds, irrigation, electrical and vertical succulent wall.
They also, in the process, made numerous changes to improve our front yard from a landscaping project that was done by a different designer/​contractor;
implemented years ago but lacking in cohesiveness. Mike’s own design aesthetic, which seems to come to him very naturally and keenly, fixed the problem spots and now we have people continually asking who we used for the work.
Mike was easy to communicate with, prompt and professional in every aspect of the
process. Billing was clear, workers were on time and courteous. I am calling on him again to address a tree replacement project– I
have no worries, I know we’re dealing with the best in the business.

I have used Modern Landscape for over 2 decades and consider them to be the best in the business. The last job they did was a full remodel of my back yard integrating our redwoods, our old school clay bricks in with the adult folage already in place. The results were outstanding and we have received accolades from our friends on the job they did. In addition they put in a gorgeous brick fire pit that was the center of attention during the winter months
I highly recommend them.

I’ve known Mike for more than five years and have always been impressed with his professional approach to landscaping. He’s very conscious of the environment and will make sure your irrigation system is working properly and that there’s no water waste. I’ve referred clients to them over the years and have only heard positive feedback. This company was established in the bay area by Mike’s father years ago before he officially took over. Next time I have any landscaping needs, they’d be the first ones I’d call.

Modern Landscaping came highly recommended. So I asked for a bid multiple times. Initial interaction was very positive, and they said they’d get back to me in a week. Got back to me a month later asking if I was still interested. I said yes. Still haven’t heard back from them. It’s been a few weeks since. Not interested any longer, but the experience got me thinking I’m glad I didn’t sign up. I would have never gotten the job done :-/
