I absolutely love this place. When you go inside the cabins, they are absolutely beautiful, especially the one that is secluded. The staff is friendly and courteous, full of great stories and jokes. They have an awesome tourist shop for all your wine needs and the wine is good too. My personal favorite is the Casa Cooler.

The stars aligned & not only were able to toast at our wedding with Casa Cooler, but we had our wedding at Casa! This was the only wedding I’ve ever planned, so I have nothing to compare it to — but working with Casa(Crystal is the special events planner/coordinator) was so easy! Any questions I had were answered quickly. Everything was very straightforward — no hidden costs, no surprise add-ons. I thought the pricing was very good. They were very easy-going & flexible to accommodate any reasonable requests. The venue is absolutely gorgeous for weddings. I enjoy dry red wines & our red wine & beer drinking guests all loved the Casa Cooler that we provided as well. My family is beer drinking Wisconsinites & they even turned in their beer cups(also provided) in favor of the Casa Cooler! Crystal did an excellent job of suggesting area vendors for our other wedding needs(we’re not from the area so needed some help with this). Working with Casa for the venue was amazing — such a beautiful & amazing day! Crystal & Miranda really went above & beyond & did a great job! Also worth noting, our big day happen to be a freak mid-90s day with humidity through the roof in fall. Like you walk outside & without doing anything, you just sweat like crazy. The AC in the venue had no problem keeping the active dancefloor cool so we were very comfortable. And last note, as much as I love Casa & all my guests did too. 1) get transportation for your guests. The road to Casa is wicked to drive on sober… Don’t do it drinking. 2) do NOT stay in the hotel/motel rooms. Casa does everything else very well, but the rooms… Awful. We attempted to stay there while wedding planning & ended up leaving & staying elsewhere.

This is one of my favorite wineries in Mo. Wines are barrel aged, with unique flavors, and cool names like«Call a cab» and«Paranoid pino». Obviously the owner has a great sense of humor. Come here to wine taste in a relaxing beautiful outdoor setting on the river, take a float trip, or overnight in one of their unique, historical rooms. They get a four because we have experienced some rudeness from servers and owner. It was not enough to keep us away, but enough to lower the rating. We do go back when we can, but haven’t always found them to be the friendliest.

I wonder if there has ever been a visitor to this winery who didn’t wonder at least once what they’ve gotten themselves into. I wondered it three times, driving back along the eroded rock roads, then looking at the shabby cabins you drive past before getting up to the winery, then when I tasted the merlot, which was truly an awful wine. Things got better from there — there are some plusses. The sweeter wines, in typical Missouri fashion, are the best here. The setting along the Niangua River has a very secluded and rustic feel and the area they had set up for a wedding was really pretty nice, in a rustic way. Don’t come here looking for an upscale wine-tasting experience. You’ll also want to avoid the lower tables when the sun it beating down — it gets really hot really fast. One more complaint; the rail on the decks has a very thick top that is right at eye level, putting a damper on what would be a pretty nice view. They might think about something less obtrusive. Once we settled in to a shady spot, we had a pretty nice time. The server and owner seemed like good, down-home folks. Not sure we’ll be back due to the inconvenience, but if you’re into wineries and places back in the woods, it’s worth checking out.

Quaint, Quirky and unique. The drive off highway 54 to find this place is an experience in itself. Take note of the intersecting streets you will encounter. The wine is okay but the view is fantastic. If you’re winery exploring check it out

We stopped in Casa De Loco after canoeing and camping in Bennett Springs. My boyfriend mentioned that there were a couple of wineries we could check out in the area. As we were driving on the gravel road, my thoughts were that this is gonna be a hole in the wall winery. Once we made it up to the top of the hill, I thought again small time and would be a quick visit. Boy was I wrong. Once we got out of car and saw that million dollar view-i thought WOW! If this was an insane asylum… let me go crazy to enjoy that view on a daily basis. The river, the hills, the view goes on forever. Saw a bald eagle fly by and a blue heron stake out his lunch. The wines are named after mental health diagnosis. Bipolar, Paranoid… fun wines for the crazies you might know. Worth the drive and such a surprise!

This was our second stop on our Ozark winery tour today and unfortunately, they closed early due to the poor weather. This place is definitely off the beaten path… literally! It’s a 2-mile drive off the main road on this gravel(more mud today tho) road. You get to pass by roads like That There Road and Wrong Turn Road which was fun. We had heard that Casa de Loco was actually an insane asylum back in the day. Unfortunately we couldn’t confirm this since it was closed. We were able to walk around the winery and see the vineyards and the beautiful scenery. I bet this place is just gorgeous in the spring time with the river and canoes and the fall must be amazing with all the leaves changing color. We also stopped at Shawnee Bluff Inn and we learned that the owner also owns Casa de Loco, so many of the wines we tried at Shawnee Bluff would have been here as well. Will definitely need to come back when the weather is nicer! Pros: — beautiful scenery, great location for weddings — off the beaten path, I would take a first date here for somehting new and adventurous Cons: — It was closed :( Why I gave it a 4… Wish we could have actually gone inside and sample wines here even though I got to sample some of their wines at Shawnee Bluff. Beautiful location that is great for pictures. Just need to make my way back here in the spring or fall time!

This place was horrible. The scenery was great but that was about it. The room was dirty and the shower didn’t work properly. The bed almost fell apart while we slept in it. We brought all these issues to the manager and she did nothing about it. All she said was that she would talk to the owner and call us. We have yet to receive a call. Bottom line… AVOIDTHISPLACE! They charge Hilton prices, but give you less than Motel 6 quality.

Unfortunately Casa De Loco has made some changes lately and not for the better. They’ve moved their wine tasting and sitting area into their banquet space and it’s changed the quaint, small time charm it used to have. They used to have an unlimited free tasting and provided bread and cheese to accompany the wine, but that’s changed. There’s a limited tasting and the snacks are long gone. It just isn’t the same anymore and no longer worth the long drive. It’s unfortunate but we do enjoy visiting their new Shawnee Bluff Winery located near the strip.

This winery sits on the Niangua River and you definitely won’t find it by accident. Since the last time I visited, they turned the old tasting room into more rooms to stay and converted another larger building into the tasting room. I love the stone they use in the buildings. We had a wine tasting and ate pizza and everything was fabulous. The staff was friendly and we had an amazing time. Out of a group of 6, it was everyone’s favorite wineries of the day.

Not a whole lot to do in Camdenton but this place is fun! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and I’m so glad they finally moved to a bigger area. I am a little upset they are now only carrying their wines since they carried many that were hard to find; but they do carry a great selection… I recommend the Casa Cooler for those looking for a semi sweet white(big difference from drinking it out of their tap vs the bottle, obviously). As for red the petite sirah is pretty good! If your hungry try their oven brick pizza — it’s to die for… If your looking for something lighter their tomato, basil, mozzarella salad(comes on 3 skewers drizzled with balsamic dressing). The views are beautiful and it’s quite peaceful every time we go. Great gag gifts and nice gifts for wine fanatics or alcohol fanatics. Bottom line: no this is not a full on glamour winery but it does beat the jank Sugarloaf winery down the way. If your looking for something to do this is a great little place to spend a couple hours and get a little tipsy. I can’t speak for the hotel stay part but again it’s Missouri… Lake living is whole other ball game :)

I agree with Chris S. This place is FILTHY!!! And they are completely bogus! They don’t make the wine there, they have it shipped in using UPS. We seen the UPS guy deliver it! So how can they be a winery. The rooms were disgusting. The bed spread had tons of stains on it… it really just needs to be burnt. I couldn’t believe that they would rent a room in that condition. There was black mold all over the bathroom. It was growing up the wall! The fancy schmancy shower didn’t even work properly. Only the shower head worked! We were severly dissappointed. And yeah, the wine sucks and is very overpriced. The grounds were covered in trash that was used in previous weddings. If I was getting married there, the staff would of had their a** out their cleaning. It was ridiculous! But there they were… Just hanging out, smoking… running around like hippies. My boyfriend wouldn’t let me tell them all the problems while we were there, but I am calling today! I am just amazed at what they call a winery and that they would be OK with all the filth!

Yes, the wine isn’t from Missouri, but who cares? The owner, Larry, makes a good wine and this is a fun place to come visit. They have wine tasting and a pizza oven and one of the most beautiful view of anywhere off the main road. The history of the place, the beauty, the Niagua River flowing over a bluff — this is why you want to go to Casa de Loco(Crazy House — in case you are wondering). The owner and his staff are terrific and you can try some wine, buy a bottle and enjoy the scenery. You can ever rent to cabin that has some unussual features. We have been known to even pack a lunch to have with a good bottle of wine. Unless you want to fun winery off the beaten track — don’t go there.

Wow… this place… seriously where to begin. First, this really isn’t a winery since last time I was there none of the wine was actually produced in Missouri. But that doesn’t really matter since the wine is all overpriced and terrible. The grounds are covered in garbage… which is always nice to see. My wife and I actually stayed here during her cousin’s wedding. The rooms are small, dirty, and covered in dead insects and mouse droppings. A pillow fell behind the bed and I just let it go… not worth it. The management at this location was HORRIBLE. The man who runs it is the skeeziest of skeezy people who tried to nickel and dime the wedding party every step of the way. Not only that but he allowed other«customers» to wander around the wedding setup the whole time. My FAVORITE part was that he told us that they have no housekeeping on the weekends. This came up because he informed the wedding party that the night of their wedding… the bride and groom’s room would not be cleaned… I could go on and on and on… but if you take nothing else from this STAYAWAY. For the love of god, stay away. And if you’re thinking of doing your wedding there… seriously…it’s NOT worth it.
