Currently in the midst of a Self-Imposed 30-Day Torture Ritual(the Whole 30), I am, at the moment, *that* customer who asks for an unsweetened iced tea and a burger with no bun and a bunch of lettuce and no dressing when I go out to eat. The Boathouse happily obliged my odd requests and the food was delish.(I nabbed a few of the truffle fries and they were awesome.) Plus, this place was sparsely populated on a Friday night while Daedalus, next door, had an hour wait. Chill vibes abound. I’ll come back, thought it might be when I’m allowed to have alcohol again.

I love the boathouse. My go to order is the fish taco appetizer, which is large enough to pass as a full entrée and $ 8.99 for a delicious dinner. The décor is nautical themed and fun. They have paper covering the table like a tablecloth(and crayons) and the service is very friendly.

Food was good. Only thing I can remember being really remarkable were the fancy fries. We ordered 2 more orders!

My fish tacos were good, and our waitress was attentive. My friend and I both found the extremely loud ‘80s music blasting in the background somewhat distracting. It’s a tiny place, and I’m really glad we got there early before it got too crowded. I might return, but I think that I’d rather explore other options.

My boyfriend and I found the Boathouse through Unilocal and it did not disappoint. We went on a Tuesday night and had no trouble finding metered parking and getting a seat at the bar right away. The fish tacos are the best I ever had. The chipotle cream sauce adds delicious flavor to the dish. My boyfriend ordered the steak tips which were cooked to perfection. I ordered the fish and chips, which also were great and not overly fried. The restaurant itself is pretty small, but the nautical theme embraces a cozy New England feel. Downsides: Small food menu, only 6 beers on tap

This placed saved me when I was frantically looking for a place that would take a reservation for 8. Thankfully I’ve been meaning to stop by here for a while now. I really enjoyed the laid back ambience, the nice, friendly service, and the reasonably priced food. Place can get crowded since it’s a relatively small space, but great place to grab a drink or a meal.

I love stopping into The Boathouse when in Harvard Square. So many other bars get jammed up on the weekend, but The Boat is always full but comfortable. Great drink selection and excellent fries!

Great nautical themed spot near all the action of Harvard! Good beer selection, salmon burgers, and popcorn chicken.

Great place to kick back and chill with friends. There’s a nautical theme so the place is decorated with flags, mermaid statues, etc. My friend and I had cocktails(I recommend the Light and Stormy for fans of ginger beer! $ 8.) and wine. The highlight was the table: it’s covered with paper, and you’ll have a cup of crayons so you can draw on it! If you’re a «kid at heart» adult, you’ll love this place.

Perfect«New England-ish» restaurant to have lunch or dinner at. Came here for dinner while exploring and left very full and satisfied. The ambiance is great in the restaurant, very much reflects it’s name. The service was fast and friendly. I ordered some chicken fingers for an appetizer and fish & chips for my entrée. Both were very good! Would I come back? Definitely.

I’ll start with all the positives first: great ambiance, the menu was friendly to vegetarians, great drink selection, reasonable pricing Cons: Do not go here if you have a big group. There is only 1 table that can accommodate large groups. I made reservations for 9 but when I arrived the table was only set up for 8. Our waitress took a considerable amount of time before asking if we wanted drinks and was pretty rude about asking for our IDs(we are all 28−32yrs old so we weren’t trying to pull a fast one). When it came time to order our food she didn’t look too happy to be taking our order either. Very abrupt/snippy«what do you want?» as she took orders. We weren’t a painful group to serve either(no special requests, just wanted drinks and dinner). Other than the service I really did like this place. I would give it 3 stars becasue of it, but gave it 4 because I want to give them the benefit of the doubt.

We wanted to hit up something fairly light over by Harvard Square. Didn’t really know much about this place, but was disappointed once I saw the menu. The food was not that good. It wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t great, so 2-stars for me. I would not go back(for the food). Didn’t have a drink, so can’t comment on the bar.

The Boathouse and Daedalus are owned by the same people but I’d argue that The Boathouse is a marginally better bar because of its atmosphere. The layout makes it more conducive to large groups, although The Boathouse does lack Daedalus’ awesome open rooftop. To be fair, it’s cold enough in Cambridge that you won’t want to go outside for most of the year anyways. The Boathouse has a slightly more expanded menu of entrees(steak tips!) and also more exciting beers on tap like Grey Lady. Definitely the play for casual hangouts or happy hour.

Cozy spot for a quick meal. I had dinner with a several of my co-workers after working late on a weekend. Everyone seemed happy with their meals. The service was decent and the décor was fitting. After a long day, I decided I needed a burger. It was cooked perfectly and served with delicious fries.

Summary: Great spot to dine. Good and atmosphere are on point! Food: I ordered the chicken menu with truffle fries. DELICIOUS! The truffle fries were savory and full of flavor. The chicken sandwich was crisp and fresh. Atmosphere: Cozy and good for a dinner for two or party of up to five. Service was a bit slow, but definitely a good spot to eat at when in Boston!

The Boathouse was acceptable, however, there was no «WOW» factor. I ordered the salmon burger and the seasonal draft. The burger came with the choice of French fries or a salad. I chose the fries. I should have taken the salad. The burger and draft were good, not great. Our server seemed somewhat bored with the whole thing and knew nothing about the beer I ordered other than the name. 24 bucks all in for food, draft, tax and 15% gratuity. A little pricey for what you get. In the end, the whole experience felt complacent.

How«New American» can you get before it stops being classy? Test the boundaries. Beer selection is the minimum you can expect from any place that’s up to date. Has Guinnnessss(you know that’s the good shit). Makes the Irish standards(Fish, Chips, etc.) with some bonuses. Date night, date day, you’ll be treated nicely and without fuss. This is the Friday’s of non-Friday’s Boston dining. Just enough off-the-the-beaten-track to demand attention, but with none of the quirks. Straightforward. If you need to forward your coworkers, set the course straight ahead Four solid stars for always delivering the goods

3.5÷4 One of the only places around Harvard Square that has somewhat healthier fish tacos and they serve food late. The prices are also okay for the area. They happily accomodated a dietary restriction and pan fried some fish and substituted veggies, which was really nice of them. We will frequent the location for sure. See photos.

Food: 4⁄5 Service: 4⁄5 This place has the best mac and cheese! Boat house is a decent place to grab a quick lunch or dinner in Harvard square. It’s essentially slightly elevated pub food, but I think they do a great job, at a reasonable price, and with some pretty cool décor/atmosphere. It does have somewhat of a boat-house like environment(get it?). I think that the food is slightly better than bar food as the mac and cheese is definitely more complex than that you would get at a typical diner and the servers are very helpful with menu selections. I’d recommend going for some of their burgers and sandwiches as well — very economical and they have a great fried chicken sandwich I enjoyed for lunch. Another quick note, they have these cool table mats and crayons that you can draw on with your friends! You might not want to try at first, but there’s a kid in all of us!

This is a tiny restaurant/bar that has a very Boston/New England feel to it. The food is typical bar food — burgers, fish and chips, etc… The salmon burger was cooked nicely and didn’t have too fishy of a taste like some other salmon patties. My friends got the fish and chips and said it was tasty. So overall, the food is nothing exciting but it’s not bad. However, the service was awful. The waitress did not seem like she wanted to be at the restaurant and was generally quite cold to our group, even though we came for my friend’s 21st birthday. There’s not much variety in the drink menu other than beer — the hot apple cider was the most appealing thing on the menu, but my friends said it was overwhelmingly alcoholic.
