Richie’s Shell Service Station

As gas stations go this one is on par. Their prices are higher yes, but it’s a. Shell and b. In the center of a major city so if you didn’t expect that… duh! The two times I have been in recently the service guy, well he doesn’t seem to know too much (for instance I asked if he could look up my fuel rewards number and he didn’t know what the fuel rewards even was…) and he doesn’t speak much either, no hi, thank you etc. doesn’t bother me as I’m not one for casual conversation with strangers… but some people get upset with stuff like that. Yes there’s a Dunkin Donuts inside… shocker as they’re literally everywhere in this town! Can’t comment on them except that when I first went into the store and up to their counter by accident they were a bit snotty about pointing me to the right counter (wasn’t paying attention didn’t see the gas/​store counter)

This review is for the Dunkins inside.
The coffee is decicious. I ordered a pumpkin spice with cream and a turbo shot that almost made me blow my top. It was amazing.
Hot, fresh and just that kick of liquid courage I needed to complete my day.
Its a small space inside so it usually seems crowded but the line moves fast.
The service is friendly too.

It’s a different type of gas I get at Richie’s. They have a Dunkins inside and I walk right by it on the way to work. SCORE! Very busy inside. Kinda hectic and tight quarters but if you don’t have a difficult order you can get in and out unharmed. When I run out of my home brew I quick stop here M-​F. Didn’t notice it was even there the first month of my job. Oops…

I work across the street from this Shell. I’m here at least 2 or 3 times a day. Not only to utilize the store inside the Shell, but this also has the only nearby Dunkin Donuts inside. (See my review of the DD inside this shell)
As far as the store.
Its one of the few stores within walking distance of my office. Its usually well stocked, and lit. Its also open 24 hours. The staff are great, but then again, myself and many of my coworkers are regulars to the store and the DD, so they all know us by face.
My only complaint about the store, as with many gas stations, its just over priced usually. But when I’m at work and need my coffee and Pepperoni Pizza Combo fix, I come here.
As far as the gas…
I typically don’t drive to work, but I can say the gas is a bit over priced. Typically 20 – 30 cents more than most stations. However this price is set by Shell, not the store owner, as the two other nearby Shells have the same price (O’Brien Hwy & Rutherford Ave), so I can’t really fault the station’s owner or the staff (remember, most brand name gas stations make their $ off the store, not the gas!)
I’m sure I’ll be back. Most likely in the morning for my first Dunks run when I’m at work…

Since america runs on dunkin, all you need to know is they Dunkin Doughnuts in their convenience store! Perfect for those who work in the area.

Normally I wouldn’t review after just one experience, but this was ridiculous.
They were out of premium gasoline. OK, but they had no signs posted to that effect, so we drove around to several pumps thinking the ones we tried were broken. We had to go inside to find out they were out of the premium gas. So we tried to mid-​grade gasoline and found that wouldn’t pump either.
Unwilling to waste any more time with non-​working pumps, we went to another gas station a few blocks away and found the prices were about fifty cents less per gallon than at Richie’s.
I’d have to be literally on my last drop of gasoline to come back to this station.

No offense, but this place is kinda terrible. I don’t like to kick a business when they’re down, so I usually keep my (few) 1 star reviews short, though not so sweet.
Go to Richie’s if:
1) You’re out of gas and you’re pushing your car around East Cambridge/​Inman Square
2) You have a strong urge to pay between 10 – 25 cents/​gallon more than like any other station in New England.
Nooooo thankee.

Nice place where to fill your tank. Saturday’s Mondays are not full of people like others places. It is easy to get into and get out because Cambridge St. is not a very busy street. The tires air pressure dispenser is friendly to use.
They are nice people too.

Sometimes, a girl just wants to pump her own gas.
Living in Cambridge, you might feel overwhelmed by the amount of full-​service gas stations you find. If you’re originally from New Jersey, or any other place where they don’t trust their inhabitants to competently wield a gas nozzle, you may not have even noticed, but if you’re like me, and sort of like the smell of gas fumes; if you like to clean your windshield with that greasy blue water at the pump; if you don’t mind getting your hands a little dirty while you try to make the pump stop at exactly $ 12.34 (and then continue pumping until your tank is full); if so, you might want to go to this gas station.
It’s just an average gas station, in all reality. But it’s on the way downtown, it’s never too busy, and the gas is never too expensive. Heck, there’s even a Dunkin’ Donuts. That’s A-​OK by me.
